  • Your compressor doesn't have to be the most obnoxious tool in the shop. This STEALTH SAQ-12018 20-gallon Quiet Air Compressor creates about 80 dB(A) at the compressor, and about 65 dB(A) just 10 feet away. #review #aircompressor #stealth

I think it was California Air Tools that were the first to come out with one of these quiet compressors. Ever since then there’s been a ton of copies, many of which look identical. My biggest concern with many of them is their longevity as they’re oil less, but otherwise I love the idea. Awesome video!

i've had an old craftsman oilless for over 20 years. noisy as heck but still puts in a good day's work. luckily i have earplugs too.

I enjoyed your video review. This has been out for more than 3 years and I am surprised no ressonably priced compressor is using the next generation of oil less compressors that use more Horsepower motors (2HP) and the lower noise levels produced using those motors (70db up close and 54dB in the short distance away.
Here is one such newer compressor, also 20 gallon: Dk2 2HP 20-gal. Single Stage Portable Electric Vertical Air Compressor.

Cali Air Tools has a new model that resembles this format but it has two fairly revolutionary features not common on a small home-gamer portable: (1) the tank is aluminum...no rusting, and (2) an automatic drain to remove water condensate from the tank. And it's *very* quiet. The one I have is a peach and perfect for my small garage shop.

Why is that thing so wobbly? Throughout the video, that would drive me nuts.

I have Husky 20 gal silent which looks almost the same. I Installed a -6an power steering cooler, 5" muffin fan, 3/8 water separator with 3/8 to -6am male adaptor, -6an stainless steel braided fuel line. The manifold gauge and regulator are very restrictive so I replaced it with a highflow. The bottom drain is DRY, barely any water comes out the bottom. Able to use those low cfm R500 spray guns.

Could you make a video showing how you did this along with part numbers?

You were obvously given this compressor. Because I have a similar brand and it is not ideal for a shop at all. It is quiet I give it that, but let's face it, they're only good for a small garage to fill up a few bicycle tires and inflatable toys. It's won't keep up to an air impact gun or even a die grinder.

How!?!? That's incredibly quiet! If it really performs, why would anyone choose something crazy loud? 82 decibels? I can be in the same room with that thing.

is there a way for you to test the cfm? if so could you do that in future videos? showing that the tank fills and it functions doesnt show that its any better than a walmart air compressor

There is a way we can do this. It requires some run testing and calculations, but we can definitely get there. Maybe we'll create a RUclips Shorts video on testing CFM with this compressor. Thanks for watching.

I don't understand how a compressor that big can be so lacking on cfm. The Dewalt portable 5ga compressor puts out 5.1cfm and its quarter the size! Won't even run a proper impact wrench. I guess if you don't need a large amount of cfm and want quiet then this would be good. California tools 20ga compressor is just as quiet but puts out 3x the cfm. Good review regardless

im pretty sure tank size has nothing to do with cfm. the california tool 20ga compressor does 5.1cfm@90psi, how is that 3x the cfm of the stealth?????? it cost $200 more and doesnt have anymore output
the dewalt does the same cfm at 10 more decibel which every 3 db is twice as loud.
