I thought I would have a lot more respect for Carlos after this podcast but this guy can't apologize to save his life. He can say sorry for bumping comics 10 years ago all he wants but until he's able to come to terms with the fact that he stole material from people and apologize for that shit as well, THEN I'll have some real respect for him. I feel bad for Joey at the end of this too. You could really tell that he didn't quite get the apology he thought he was going to get. Good on him for giving the guy a second chance though. Joey likes to give people second chances because he got a crazy amount of extra chances and turned everything around. Ned just needs more time to understand why so many people dislike him altogether. Guess Joey just needed to outright have a sit down with whats-his-face to really see who he is in real life and who he is in front of a camera.
While I do agree that he has a mental disorder and has learned nothing, I didn't mention anything about Ned in my comment. I'm saying that to take the high road and give the guy an hour to try and redeem himself is pretty fucking huge of him. I don't know if i could show the same grace to a scum bag like him. My advice to Carlos would be to stop reducing his indiscretions to simply failing to acknowledge the shifting sensibilities when it comes to "pushing" comics out of their time slot. i know Mencia is a joke thief, and i actually witnessed him do it in person at the improv in coconut grove in Miami a couple of years back. With all of that being said, Mencia interacted with everyone after his show for at least 30 minutes, and he was honestly on of the nicest guys i've ever met.

I'd love to give Mencia another chance. The problem is he still won't admit he either stole jokes or bought stolen jokes from writers. It's not just because he was rude and made other comedians angry with him. Not once did he admit he used other peoples material. I respect Joey Diaz. I'm a regular listener of the podcast and I've seen him live many times. I understand where Joey was coming from. Everyone deserves a second chance. BUT... three things bothered me greatly about this interview.
1. There was no apology to any comedian for the jokes he lifted and Joey let him slide.
2. The edit at 20:22 in both the video and the podcast. I want to know what was cut. Did they talk about stealing jokes?
3. Mencia had the balls to say "I have integrity" at 1:09:57.

Thanks to Uncle Joey for this. I think we all have to "hug the cactus" sometimes and for 10 years he has. Maybe he's learned his lesson, maybe he hasn't. I think there's enough of a spotlight on him he wouldn't be able to steal anyone's jokes. I think if under these circumstances I'd be willing to give him a chance and see if he has something to offer.
