So Nas was actually responding to that and Jay Z calling himself Hova. You have to remember Biggie and Nas were on each others radar before big passed. Not JayZ. So i'd still say Jay started it. Idk why this came back up on my notifications but to help @MathHoffa out, Jay & Rocafella had issues and jealousy for Nas from the start. I was there and heard the music petty bts. I co-created The Dead Presidents track with Ski. I was in 1199 on a daily. I only learned through your show that Nas took half the publishing for DP as I was never given any credit or kept in the loop after the album was done. That was Dame & Ski MO all the way through the Blu Roc era. Thinking about it all now, it makes sense. Jay admired Nas but had an the bigger ego. He probably felt outmaneuvered by Nas and held the grudge. I used to hear all kinds “disses” when Nas would be mentioned and I’m talking circa 1996. Anyway, keep up the great work. Your lane is solidified. I can’t wait to see what’s next for us!

Jay wanted to be like Nas and and hang with him. Nas didn't see him as anyone special. Jay got mad so he started to sleep with his baby moms. During that time Jay came out saying NY looked soft when snoop crushed the building. Prodigy went as Jay immediately. Jay dropped takeover then Nas finished him

That definitely is not the timeline. But you tried that’s what counts
@@rightouskofi7861 THE HISTORY: Jay Z started the Beef. Nas and Jay been going at it years before Takeover. In Feb 1996, JayZ sampled Nas voice without permission on Dead Presidents. Nas also knew back in 1994 JayZ was messing with his girl Carmen...thats why Nas would never do a song with JayZ. In July 1996, Nas who confirmed his song “The Message” includes shots at JAY-Z with "Lex with TV sets the minimum". Nas song "Black Girl Lost" was also about JayZ cheating with Nas girl. In Nov 1997, JAY-Z sampled Nas’ voice again without permission on "Rap Game/Crack Game". In 1997, Jay Z song "Where I'm From," took a shot at Nas by listing Nas last amongst the best, "Who’s the best MC’s, Biggie, Jay-Z, and Nas.” In August 1999, Memphis Bleek released a song “What You Think of That”, which sounded like Nas song "Nas Is Like". Memphis Bleek said, "I'mma ball till I fall what you think of that?" In Nov 1999, Nas responded to Memphis Bleek in “Nastradamus”, "You wanna ball till you fall? I can help you with that.” And NAS song "Come Get Me" (1999)...second verse was about Jay-Z..."you make hot songs but she know you steal from me". NAS is talking about JayZ sampling his voice twice. In Dec 2000, Memphis Bleek went at NAS in song 'My Mind Right". "Your lifestyle's written/So who you supposed to be, play your position"...and the song "Is that your chick"...which JayZ talks about sleeping with Nas baby mother Carmen. In 2001, Nas responded to Bleek and Rockafella with “Stillmatic”. “Rip the Freeway, shoot through Memphis with Money Bags/Stop in Philly, order cheesesteaks and eat Beans fast". Nas also released “Is he H to the Izzo, M to the Izzo?” dissing JayZ "Izzo (H.O.V.A.) released Aug 2001. JAY-Z performed a freestyle at Hot 97’s Summer Jam dissing Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Nas....which turned into the song "Takeover" in Sept 2001. NAS ethered JayZ in Nov 2001....also on song Last real Nigga Alive. In NYC we heard these songs before they were released. I just went by the release dates of the song to make it official.
Jay was mad Nas didnt cime through to be in Reasonable Doubt.
Subliminals thrown since then.
He gotta stop hatin on Queens. He was cute like 5 minutes ago lol
Bs because jay'z diss was first to come out
i dont buy that jay had extra. he made two songs and talked about his baby moms on the 2nd. that was his lowest blow.
Clue is biased asf. No revisionist history. Jay knew he lost. His reaction on Hot 97 was recorded.
Clue still a roc a fella artist at heart
It was Memphis that started it off of Jays orders
Bleek started it.
