- At 62 years of age, Bill Gillespie breaks the equipped ATWR bench press by pressing 1129 lbs. This was Bill's last competition, and he plans to use his experience to help others. Give him a follow at: / master_strength_
Is that real! That might be the most impressive bench I’ve ever seen, it went up so fast. And he’s 62?!!! WTF 😳
It's crazy he is 62. I think this record will be broken at the Baddest Bencher comp in May. If you like RAW benching as well, Danial Zamani is going for 800 lbs, world record, in 2 weeks.
@@MaximumIron where can I be able to see the 800lbs raw bench? Will you post the clip on your channel?
‘Is that real!’
Sort of
@@HkFinn83 yes I know
@@HkFinn83 I get that it’s in a shirt but don’t discredit the whole lift man, and only a handful of people can hold 1100 plus pounds above them, have you held 1100 pounds in your hands before?
That's extremely impressive for a 62 yr old. RESPECT !! 💪
That's extremely impressive for any age.
@@sameerkanade4482 True!!!
It’s the world record, so it’s impressive for every single human in the entire world
bruh he made the world record for heaviest bench, this is impressive for any age
@@rhylemavericktan5826 not really since his raw bench is about 500-550lbs. Bench shirts nowadays are insane and do literally over 50% of the work for you. It's more so how to learn to wear the shirt right then lift the weight at this point.
wait did a 62 year old man just set a world record in the benchpress. If this is real I have no excuses I need to get off my ass and start training hard again.
Dude equipped lifting is a joke
@@Solonos well an 1,100lb joke is a pretty good one
@@Solonos an equipped bench of even 1000lbs is only done by the elite...this is leaps and bounds above that. it's still an amazing feat, bro.
@@comedysilver5572 he's not the strongest in the world, he's just wearing more layers than anyone else. I doubt his raw is even in the 600's, equipment just inflates numbers and turns it into a supreme ego lifting clownfest
@@Solonos ok I have to a agree that equipped lifts are a joke. But even if he benches 600 raw, thats still above like 99% of the worlds max. Still impressive. Just would be better without a suit.
Certainly not something i was expecting to see while casually scrolling through RUclips. That’s amazing, it literally moved faster than me benching 135 😂
The power of a lifting shirt, if there was less weight on the bar, say 900lbs, the tension in the shirt wouldn't even let him lower the bar to his chest
Thanks Bill. I'm approaching 40 and am always worried about my strength career going forward. You just gave me hope. God bless you, you're amazing.
-Jerz
I just did an equipped jack lift of my 2 ton car.
Congrats! So proud of you, breaking boundaries
@@muhammadputera6593 Thanks man.
Just imagine, it’s like that time you here some 60 year old guy:
“ I used to bench 1000 lbs back in the day.”
You’re just thinking yeah right sure you did...
then he’s like;
“and I still can, watch me”
shit flew like he had another 300 lb in him wtf lol
You mean in that dress. ;-)
i will never understand equipped powerlifting
Good thing they don't do it for you, eh?
Never will. Total ego lift. Only those who do equipped get it. They might as well use hydraulics
what kind of equipment is he using exactly robotic arms?
I would be very interested to know what this man can also bench raw. It must be an insane number too.
Probably 550 at the very max. The bench shirt does all the lifting.
@@joebot9309 still crazy impressive, even more so given his age. But equipped lifting, I don’t get….. raw all the way.
@@joebot9309 a benching shirt doesn't double your shit.
@@joebot9309 600lbs from a shirt?
@@dirtmcgirt01 Lol yeah, no way. Looks like maybe 250-350 at max, for a really good setup.
Where you at Julius Maddox?
Julius: somewhere crying 😂
What does this translate to in raw benching ?
I never understand these records. What’s the point of them. If you wanna see how much you can lift with something aiding you why not put a hydraulic jack under each tricep that pushes your arms up as your spotter hits a button. Dumb
I agree. He is 350 isch lbs over the raw bench, set by a juiced up giant with good genetics.
So he effectively has the most rigid clothing (doing 400+ lbs of the lift).
Bench should be done with a bare chest.
@@barath4545 his raw bench is 500... equipped is a joke
He didn't quit lock it out all the way
I do not want to disrespect Bill, but it seems like the side spotters had their hands on the weight the entire time and appeared to be lifting up on the weight. I have seen vids of him doing over 900 without spotters touching so he is capable. i also question the "equipment " Still I highly respect this MAN .
this federation allows most anything and is just interested in big numbers . Why not use a forklift ?
Even with a bench shirt that is incredible. Oddly enough it may have been disallowed because he paused in the middle. Old man strength is real. Not me, but my grandfather was a farmer and his humble feats of strength even in his mid 70's astounded others.
THIS DUDE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUSCLE BEAST MODE 💪 💪 💪 INDEED. AT 62!!!. YOU ARE DEFINITELY INSPIRATIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL
Muscle maturity is old man strength. I am Simalar as I age I get stronger. 455 bench press was my max in my 30s and 40s. Now I'm 51 and the 500 club will be soon. My goal is not 500 , that's just the beginning of my last go at this. There is NO weakness in being strong.
But give it away for a while due to injury and all the strength is gone and also the muscle starts wasting away. That's why when trying to make a comeback I'm like a skinny little teenager again but I believe having a good routine and sticking with it will bring gains. What routine do u follow?
These new shirts are crazy. This guy is older than Mendy and moved that like a warm up
Brad Dinkleberry: finally, a worthy opponent
He never lock out
Just holding 1,000+ pounds over the chest like that it's just crazy
Okay how much those spotters were lifting out of that 1,129?
You always have to look at fulcrum or distance. Take a guy with long arms vs short. It’s all how much bend in your elbow, size of your chest, (your chest is the mark) how far apart is your grip. If you took a tape measure, this guys moved maybe 6-8 inches. I have long arms, I’m closer to a foot.
Truly amazing I remember watching tiny meeker meet in Texas and it looked like Bill was done lifting. To see him come back a year later and set a record is incredible
Amazing Lift !! If you have not powerlift before you do not know the skill it takes to do this. Your arms would break trying to do this !! The most i had in my hands was 600lbs raw 20yrs ago and I thought my wrists were going to break !! That was on a 4 board !! Much Respect !!
He broke his own record 😳😳😳
That's insane holy crap
Hey Lois
Age is just a number. That's what I get told when young people find out my age. I tell people it took me a long time to get this strong. Stop on never do steroids and when your 62 or over you can do something incredible.
I mean, this guy is definitely on steroids, but so is everyone at that level, so that isn't taking anything away from him. I get what you mean. What this tells me is that if an old dude on extreme amounts of steroids can beat out young dudes also on extreme amounts of steroids, then we can compare this with natural people too, an older natural can be just as strong as a younger natural in the context of only comparing naturals.
@@Kaledrone I know what I'm capable of and I don't dop. Just saying
wtf does age even affect equipped benching at all lmao, last record which was JUST set recently was from a 50 year old, now the new one is from a 62 year old?! man...
Geez. Reminds me of me.
Congrats
age is just a number. this guy proved it
walter kurda benchpress was over 200kg when he was over 60 years old. Unfortunateley. he had a heart attack..now his performance decreased a lot.
This is unlimited, right? Or multiply?
Looks like a band shirt from the sleeves.
Multiply it looks like
bruh he is not human bro he is a diffeent breed
Guy didn't even arch his back all the way and he pushed it was a walk in the park
He’s a gillespe they are all beast
take the gear off, and he can probarbly still bench alot
He benched 551 back in September but the shirt is adding about 600 pounds which is crazy
The funny thing is all these people bashing equipped lifts are gonna go to the gym and put on the thickest fuckin belt they got and deadlift 200lbs more than what they could without the belt. Julious maddox can't bench what he's benching without wrist wraps. Imagine trying to hit a PR with two broken wrist.
Half a ton! That is more than half a ton! Jesus fucking Christ! His bones and tendons are made of steel.
That shit was fast!
it's all you bro I swear
that went up like it was 45lb wtf
With 25 He benched 1 ton
Is this real?
How does a bench suit help with lifting ?
It brings compression and forces the body into a specific position while adding resistance against the bar.
An 1100lb weight will weigh about 600-700lbs at the bottom. The shirt does the rest.
@@joebot9309 The shirt dosent do the rest, there is still 1129 pounds of force being exerted over the same areas as a traditional bench, He is still being pinned into the bench seat by 1129 pounds. His joints are still supporting 1129, the suit has 0 effects against the compression on his body.
I don't understand the appeal... but i respect the dedication!
Stay strong, train powerlifting, train RAW
Usually that kind of weight is a slow grind it just put it up fast.
That's why it's equipped lifting, shit basically makes you a spring
@@andonbrown385 The most impressive thing about this still for me is how his joints can handle that much weight.
Sure the spring helps him push it up, but his arms are still carrying that insane weight
Damn
equiped lifting is a meme and i hate it
See dudes always be saying "u got a big forehead" but thats why we lift heavy like this guy and me got big brains i could curl about 300lbs. Its good to have a big forehead
My 80 year grandpa operates a forklift. He lifts a lot more than this clown's rubber suit.
So this is the power of having no neck…
This is so impressive it looks fake LMAO holy shit!
Nah mate ...... unreal
um add 100 pounds please
Why have a record that can only b done with equipment helping u dont make much sense
I am confusion...
That was not fully locked out. The guy on the left is also clearly never letting go of the bar as you can see that on the decent.
These equipped low end meets are truly bad for the sport
😳😳😳
Equipped benching 🤣
Not a legit rep...started at the bottom?
Can do that easily.
Just beat tiny meekers
Rly pointless he just had better equipment then the last guy purely ego lifting soon elon musk will hold the record with his 1 billion dollar lifting soon.
short arms equals mechanical advantage with the bench press. look at all the best bench pressers and you see what i mean. short and stalky guys have the advantage when it comes to benching. still impressive af though, and even crazier to think that this guy is literally stronger than a neanderthal, who is supposed to be "much stronger than modern humans". i bet this guy has an extremely robust skeleton. with strong muscles comes a thick skeleton.
What are these grandpa's doing
what?
Gawd, I'm tired of these type of videos. Cool he has 1100lb in his hands, but 1) didn't come close to pressing it.
2)Without the equipment his true bench falls 60%+
That's like me posting a video of me benching 675 when my actual true bench is 405.
That's like saying Lewis Hamilton can run at 200 mph
While its good that he was able to reach a record, he should really focus on his diet. 62 years of age and a clear high body fat percentage is present, along with muscle. Not good, not good at all.
Not a real bench to me... With all the Damn straps and tight azz shirt's.... Then they help him lift it 5-6 inches over the rack.... shit
