Quan Hong Chan is just brilliant n an amazing diver besides bein petite an added bonus.Have watched her dived since she was twelve first started. She is the best!❤
It's extremely rare to see a teenager like this who performs in such dominant fashion while feeling zero pressure, especially from a country that puts so much pressure on their elite athletes to win gold. Quan needs to be treasured.
It's seriously all thanks to her family. I saw an interview of theirs and they are so down to earth and wise. They refuse to touch any of the money their dauther's made from diving and have put it into an account for her, and they refuse all commerical sponsorships because they don't want to turn her into a money-making commodity. I know that Quan said in an interview at the Tokyo olympics that she dives in order to pay for her mother's medical care and it's all very tragic, but I don't think that's the whole story. Like, first of all, she was 14 at the time and in other post-dive interviews since we see that she is really awkward when it comes to answering questions on the fly (I recall one journalist asking how she feels after winning and Quan looking at her like "what do you mean how do I feel? I just won didn't I?" and her synchro partner answering for her after the akward pause). So her talking about her mother's injury as inspiration for diving isn't a lie, but it was also a 14-year-old grasping for anything to say at all at the press conference of her very first international competition. Also, her mother's car accident was 4 years prior to that interview, and, again, her family refuses to touch the money she's made. Her mom was fine by that point and win or lose, she was getting paid a lot just for going to the olympics (with a nice bonus for winning, of course) so it's not like there was pressure in that sense. In summary, Quan hongchan is able to compete without falling to pressure because she has a great support system. She just dives the best she can and focus on nothing else because she knows that win or lose, nothing crucial is on the line.
@@Ai-yahUdingus it was her goal to earn money to pay for medical expense for her mom when they asked her what make her wants to win. obviously lost in translation.
