Is VIVIANNE MIEDEMA going to MAN CITY? Arsenal have lost a true legend!

  • After a casual 172 apps and 125 goals for the gunners, Viv is leaving the club at the end of the season? Where to though? I imagine her options are endless, but does Manchester City make the most sense?

I have just tagged you on a video that a fan took where Jonas puts his hands on Viv on the sidelines pushing her to get back into the dugout and she is furious! The club is letting go of a superstar to satiate the ego of this clown who hasn't won a serious trophy for us yet!

I'm still seething over his treatment of Iwabuchi. In my opinion, the match where he brought her on for 10s remaining in a match, was when he lost Viv. She was visibly upset that her friend was thrown Into a match with seconds remaining. Jonas has a lot to do if he's to convince us that he's the right person for the job,.

Talking about the Everton game and being there in person it’s surprised me how it hasn’t come to people’s attention on the conflict that happened at the game with the substitution. Jonas was putting her on last minute then it looked like the 4th official said it’s basically time up so jonas told viv to go sit back down and with vivs reaction she swung her arm away from him as if “go away” which resulted in her going straight down the tunnel without speaking with the team and Beth running after her saying to the fans “ I need to go check on vivi” and then suddenly has another problem and not playing next games. I think that was the final straw/ moment the fans at the game realised that viv was actually going. Don’t understand how it hasn’t came to light on social media surely the fans saw it coming no? 💔

They're just letting her go, she has given her ACL and subsequent comeback injuries to the Arse - they don't deserve her and it looks like they don't actually care about player welfare. Substituting someone on in such late minutes is no representation of Viv, the stats speak. I know injury is a huge factor, but we see the likes of Beth and Leah comeback and have played consistent minutes. And to say she doesn't fit in the current team sounds like a lack of bother and thought...most clubs would take a player, as talented and as goal-scoring as Viv, and build the team around her...start a fresh. A massive part of Arsenal, as a family, has been lost today. But the memories and the talent will always remain. THE GOAT.

I think Manchester City have shown more interest in bringing through young players they got in January so far. I would not be surprised to see a US club trying to sign her.

Vivianne needs a team around her. And Fara is right.

It is sad to see Viv go. This will be a move that Arsenall will regret. In the end it is apparent that the club, and more importantly, the manager haven't shown her the respect she has earned. This might sound crazy, but i feel like Liverpool could possibly get her. Matt Beard is a solid manager and there are solid players there. She would start and get a lot of minutes. Plus she is a fan of the men's team from what i read. Crazy opinion, but you never know. It could happen....

Pure stubbornness and incompetence from Jonas and the Arsenal board. Jonas is out of his depth, his man management is poor. He doesn't know how to fit an WSL and Arsenal great in Miedema back in the side. He signs Kyra Cooney-Cross but doesn't play her. Its a joke, Viv rejected offers from Barcelona the best team in Europe to stay and play and fight for Arsenal over the years.
For Arsenal to not offer her a contract when she hasn't had the best of times due to the injury which happens its football, injuries occur.. its honestly a disgrace to see.
I hope Jonas and Clare Wheatley both go ASAP. Conti Cup isn't enough for a club like Arsenal !
We have now strengthened our rivals in Manchester City. Dumb move... as from Jonas' mouth we want to compete and win major trophies. In order to win major trophies you need players like Viv in the team! Lastly you can see from Viv's emotional and heartfelt leaving message she did not want to go. The players posts also show it too how gutted and sad they are. If Viv wanted to leave she would have stated it in her statement like Rafa did. She didn't. This is a bad bad day for Arsenal & Arsenal fans. #JonasOut

Unlike Emma Hayes at Chelsea!! (The Best!!)…Players missed out on The World Cup …!!!🤬 for goodness sake!…Viv would have ruffled a number of feathers there…but the truth always hurts the Guilty… like ‘Mr Ego Eidevall’ for a start !…No wonder Emma Hayes shoved him aside recently!!…for his stupid antics etc etc. Really hope that she gets due respect… eg at Man City where their Manager actually recognises and has spoken of her brilliance and intelligence as person and player 👍👏…feel that there is a growing dismay at the popularity of the Womens game… and it’s attraction of its skills and family friendly atmosphere… in certain quarters ( which was behind the 50 year ban by the FA ….only ended in 1971 )…apologies for long reply….just very angry about the whole disgraceful episode …

Gutted. She is the reason I become interested in women's football after watching some highlights of her absolutely demolishing some poor team long time ago.

I really don't understand it. I'm gutted and very miffed. My main club Cambridge let the best goalie we've ever had go, Dimitar Mitov. Sometimes these things just don't make sense.

While its sad..its not a surprise. Whats fascinating is that everyone is blaming the club..when Viv made it clear b4 signing her last contract that she didnt intend to stay. Also her not playing is due to injury and several setbacks.. shes had 3 knee surgeries..thats why she isnt playing. And when she did play after acl she didnt look good at all. You have to remember she has other struggles in her life/mentally and has for years..
2nd to that the game has changed ALOT just in the time that shes been gone.. and even more since her peak years. Her style does not fit the current team..they tried changing her position but i dont know how she felt about that. and yeah they could change style of team but with the players they have just signed they wont. Too much money invested in Russo etc.

Think she was too honest with him he seems to make ridiculous decisions it's a joke. Not an Arsenal fan but I know football bad move !!!!! She can come to Chelsea if she fancies that 😅

She must feel so discarded and disrespected. If I was an arsenal player I'd be worried about getting a long term injury as there seems to be a lack of support after. She's barely had time to recover. It's like if you arnt back to your best straight away and your contracts up.. you are out.

Will this be the tipping point? This is from Wikipaedia about Arsenal Administrator Clare Wheatley. "In 2020, Arsenal Women were fined £50,000 for discrimination after it was found by a Football Association tribunal that Wheatley had fired a youth coach who had been diagnosed with autism.[8]" They have been criticised for their lack of diversity due to a total absence of ethnic minorities. Hope they get a thumping in Melbourne, then maybe there will be a clanging reality check about the management. All sympathy for the players.

If she was in her 30s i could understand letting her go based on the last 18 months but she is still in her 20s with a proven record. This decision on the face of it is madness but is there something we dont know......

Get rid of the manager at Arsenal…. And the one at Man Utd too….they are both below par… all of the players deserve better…not these two big heads who think they themselves have ‘won’ the silverware…Arsenal fans , in particular will be ‘livid’….and maybe other players may want to leave???…Hope Viv doesn’t get tempted to go to France or Spain ….This is her home away from home…She’s even got a Scottish accent… for goodness sake!!!!

gutted about this. I love Russo as you do @shebahn but let's face it Viv is world class and the best finisher they have. please not City, I can see her scoring hat-tricks against Arsenal as City win their fifth WSL in a row, just like the men's team. I can handle her going to Barça, in fact I'd welcome it as that's my local team and I'd love to see her play in that team. Or even Lyon. But please not City! she deserves better than to be discarded by Arsenal, I agree it's a sad day
