It is almost impossible, how one single movie can influence the positive reaction. The amazing castle, settled in the middle of the lake, made me look for a trip to this place in 2025... and yes, I found it 😃
It was one of my big dreams to travel to Finland. I was there last summer. I fell in love with Finland. The country is beautiful and calm. I like the Finnish logical and practical way of thinking. We didn't have enough time there, but I hope to get to Finland again. I want to see the Finnish winter and the Northern Lights.
I have only been to Finland once. Would love to go again! Home to my ancestors. I am a 2nd generation American-Finn. A few mispronounced Finnish names.
@@samhartford8677 My mom brought a Flintstones comic book back from Finland one year and Kivinen was on the mailbox. I also heard that nen with the kivi could mean small piece of the stone. Grandpa had to change the name when he came to the USA because our original last name has an oomlot and the American alphabet doesn’t have an oomlot. Kiivista with oomlot I think.

North-Carelia is the best, take my word on it. It may not seem like there are not alot of attractions, but somehow the lack of huge attractions make the tiny ones stand out all the more magical and unique. A road trip around North-carelia in the summer, or cross-country skiing from town to town in winter will bring you unexpected wonder upon wonder.
I recommend also Kotka and Hamina, such a charming duplex in South-Eastern Finland! Pori and Rauma in western Finland. In the north Kuusamo+Riisitunturi, Pyhä and Pallas.
At 3:17 is not Punkaharju, it is Pulkkilanharju....The place at 2:00 is in Puumala, my summerhouse is 10 km from that location (Lietvesi). And I can see Olavinlinna castle (at 5:00) from my home window.
This is what tourists think of Finland. Reality is very different. These places exists but only few people live there. Most of the people live in cities and maybe once in their life have visited lapland or other places in this video
Not quite true. Compared to other countries quite a lot of people live in the countryside if Finland. Most of those " cities" in Finland are villages in other countries.
why you didn't mention Turku Cathedral?, is the only medieval basilica in Finland and the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. It is also regarded as one of the major records of Finnish architectural history.
Saana tubtyr's story: When the dawn of humanity was just beginning to dawn And Lapland was a land of giants The beautiful Malla girl started preparing for her wedding Young gallant Saana as her fiancé People from all over came to Halti to celebrate And the church bells started ringing That's when dark Pältsa from Sweden entered the church He also wanted Malla to win as his wife He planned to prevent the wedding and called the wizards for help And soon the party crowd heard to their horror When the ice fell from the north And the wind came The church people fled with Malla in their arms Saana also started to run to safety They didn't get far when they got stuck under the ice And froze on the shore of Kilpisjärvi Ages have turned them into fells And Malla's tears that raised Kilpisjärvi When the icy north wind blows Saana is also crying
Imagery is great, but perhaps making a few fact checks would've been smart. Throughout the clip, there are small, but significant mistakes, including the funny remark about the arctic fox being "a rare sight" in many parts of the country. Yes, it definitely is, since it's only found in the northernmost reaches, and only breeds within the Finnish borders for about every four years or so, though in the last decade or so, there have been several successful summers in a row. Naantali, by the way, is officially a city (or at least a town in the international terminology), not a village. The pronunciation of the words is mostly foreign, and it doesn't really matter that much, but what hurts my ear maybe the most is "Levi" which has nothing to do with the Biblical character. It's pronounced more like "leh-vee". I definitely like this clip. Thanks for the beautiful scenery brought to our screens.
Absolutely loved this video! I recently posted something at [5:10] about local experiences too. It’s great to see how these spots are covered by different creators! 🌟"
Almost all Finnis place names were pronounced like they should be pronounced. There is still one that is almost always pronounced wrong: Levi. It is pronounced as Levi´s or levigate, not like a man´s name Levi.
Somehow it goes towards fishing for the viewers. Isn't there anything else in Finland but Porvoo, Helsinki and Lapland and the lake landscape and the archipelago and Åland is some attraction. Well, Finland is a country of national parks but.... Santa Claus, do many people believe in him, all the props are just financing and, on top of that, overpriced. Livai..... NO Levi , is a right way to spell it. . Korouoma is hardly an attraction. Oh, the Saami legend is an attraction, and the rest of Finland???? Hello . Yes, I'm Finnish
In Finland there are so many truly beautiful nature trails and towns, that are not familiar even to us Finns. I just visited this weekend in two lovely places: Janakkala with medieval church and nice nature trails in Laurinmäki. A stunning nature I found in Riihimäki Riutta. 🌿❤ I was only walking along the fitness path (pururata), which will be soon only for skiiers, though. The altitudes in Riutta totally amazed me and the old, untouched forest! Even more surprised I was to see just walking slowly that path: 3 different spieces of woodpeckers (starting with White-backed woodpecker), a group of crested tits and couple of Eurasian treecreapers! Propably would have seen a lot more, if I would have had the time and muscles 😂 to roam in some forested valleys with extra paths! Big recommendation. ❤👍 Ofcourse Finland's shoreline towns and archipelago also have to offer many wonderful places. But easiest as a foreigner you find the magic in Helsinki, Porvoo, Tampere, Turku, Savonlinna in summertime and in Lakeland area, Kuusamo area+Riisitunturi (stunning in winter time), Santa's Village in Rovaniemi and in other places in Lapland! But, please tell your "secret favorites", what are not commonly known even by Finns! ❤🙏

I will visit city of Tööky next week. Liivai is one of the best ski resorts in Finland. Only Jyllas is better.
Tööky = Turku. Liivai = Levi. Jyllas = Ylläs. For the foreigners if they want to go and google those places. (helpompi löytää). 😉
Thank you! 🙏❤@@kalma999

That's when dark Pältsa from Sweden entered the church
He also wanted Malla to win as his wife
He planned to prevent the wedding and called the wizards for help
And soon the party crowd heard to their horror
When the ice fell from the north
And the wind came
The church people fled with Malla in their arms
Saana also started to run to safety
They didn't get far when they got stuck under the ice
And froze on the shore of Kilpisjärvi
Ages have turned them into fells
And Malla's tears that raised Kilpisjärvi
When the icy north wind blows
Saana is also crying
