Correct me if I am wrong...is that an original 80s RG? It looks like to me. Most excellent song and playing. Love the heavy juxtaposed with the melodic. Much more heavy and brutal than all heavy all the time. If you can't tell I grew up in the 80s. This is on par with the best the 80s had to offer. Lots of Testament and Megadeth sounding influences. I also wear my influences on my cuff when I play. Thx for the awesome playing and song.
Great ! I just swapped my EMG81/85 set with SH6 set, last week on my Horizon. They're darker, but awesome and works with everything. I had trouble finding a good tone with my 81, except with Engl amps.
I'm so used to the EMG sound after using them for 10+ years but i've started dabbling with passives recently and I do like the SH6. I still need to do a proper recording session with it though to really get to grips with it's style. Never had an ENGL personally but I found EMG's work well with the Mesa/5150 stuff!
Ahah, you know them, that's why they fit your style so well, I guess. In fact, I always found 81 too trebly and "flat" in palm mutes, for my taste. I had to keep my OD808's tone knob low to get rid of this annoying 2/3 kHz shit, without killing the attack too much, and set the presence knob of my 5150 quite high, to get my guitars alive in mixes (I still suck at this), but never found a good compromise, even with EQ in the loop, or after the Maxon. Please do ! I'm really curious to see what you can get from your SH6 ! 81's with Mesa = win for sure ahah

In that Ibanez it is indeed a SH6 Distortion however the original song was recorded with an EMG 81.
