TOV is on my list of systems to try out! I've been hearing some really good things about their systems. Anything in particular that you'd recommend to zero in on first? I wish I'd dug into A5e more during my last campaign because I could have borrowed bits to fill in the gaps of WotC 5e. Running it now is like a dream with all the fixes they put in and the buffs to martial PCs. Thanks the comment!
Level up is so freaking good. I love how the new systems at first glance seem really crunchy (a material and repair system for gear) but in practice are actually pretty simple (a simple check at the DMs discretion). Honestly the only REALLY more complicated part is character creation and combat maneuvers. My only real complaint is how hard the physical copies are to get a hold of.
Yeah, I ordered from EN Publishing and it took a minute for them to arrive. That said, the physical copies are beautifully well-made. I also got all the PDFs so I can share it out with my players. All the entries are hyperlinked to each section which is helpful with the more complex character creation and combat maneuver selection.
Agree. Level Up Advanced 5e is basically D&D 5e improved using the best innovations of Pathfinder 2e without bogging it down in the infamous rules crunch of Pathfinder 2e.
Definitely. I've tried PF2 a couple times and it was okay, but my biggest nitpick with PF2 was exactly the rules crunch you mention. For me, having tons of rules for everything (even well written, well balanced rules) sucked some of the creative life out of playing a fantasy RPG. The core mechanic that I like is adding a bit of expertise spice and a combat maneuver spice for martial characters. Just those two add-in's really helped reduce my workload as DM.
+10 Insight! I agree. It’s the inverse of D&D’s brand power. Trying to figure out how to title videos for Advanced 5e is a bear on RUclips because D&D is what gets searched for and clicked on. Thank you for the comment and watch!

Great video! Man, I'm really looking forward to more from you on A5E!! Good stuff 👏 👍
I really do love A5e. Its super good. But I think I have leaned more into TOV recently. But I still borrow bits from A5e.

Another great video! I am loving A5E so far. Definitely a better version of PHB24
Level Up A5E is amazing. It has a huge problem though..... It has a really awful name.
