Temporary Repair for Cracked Screen

- Cracked the screen of your iPhone, iPad or Android gadget? You might want to follow my lead with this temporary solution to keep your gadget going until you replace the screen.
There's really no magical cure, you have to replace the glass or in my case, replace the whole LCD/digitizer/glass as a complete unit.
In this video, I used contact paper, clear tape and an x-acto to secure the glass so it can't easily break apart any further and to protect my fingers from glass splinters while I use the iPad mini 4.

I just cried a bit because I just dropped my iPad for the 5000th time and it’s not as bad as the 2 iPad minis I’ve had and broke. When I told my mum, she told to stop carrying it around the house everywhere I go. I was thinking that I could just use tape but this would be much better since I have contact paper, and we can’t afford to get the screen repaired. I’ve always said that I need a screen protector even if it doesn’t do much. I will definitely do this.

My sister cheap'd out. Her iPod touch screen broke, but like your iPad, she can still use it, touch works. I told her we can just buy a replacement screen and digitizer from aliexpress. But the prices for the screen and digitizers are still expensive. So I just told her to just put a tempered glass over it, since she doesn't really care about the screen only the functionality of the iPod touch which she mainly uses as an mp3 player. The tempered glass is installed and she has no plans of replacing the broken screen.
I guess that worked out perfectly for her. If she's only using it for music, there's no point spending a lot of money fixing it. It's crazy how expensive the parts are when you consider the original buying price of the gadget!

similar happened to my sister's phone with dragontrailglass, the price is so ridiculous, she decided not to replace the screen.
cracks may accumulate dust and dirt and may loosen up more overtime so she slapped a tempered glass over it.
Can I put a temperd glass shield on mine as well it just has a crack in the top right corner an the tuch screen doesn't work no matter where I place my finger on the screen?

you can also check out quiapo manila for lcd/digitizer assembly most repair shop around metro manila get their parts from there. probably 40-50% cheaper. though you have to replace it yourself.
Thanks for the suggestion :) I'm still hoping to find a place which has the machinery for removing and replacing just the glass. Instead of replacing the lcd/digitizer :)

Oh oh oh if you think that’s bad mine fell of my bed into tiles in a bag and there are cracks covering it I’m just glad it still works and with quarantine when it will get fixed and Im pretty sure my sister added another one since there is another huge crack easily

My ipad doesnt really have a big crack because i droped it and it has like a small scar on the screen it doesnt look serious when the ipad is off but when i turn it on near the cracks it looks like its orange do you know how to fix that?

wow 6500php. that sould be the original LCD from apple supplier then. iirc, i have my fathers ipad mini gen1 sceen replaced for less than 3000php. same problem as yours but only replacement part, not original. scanlines are very evident on it
They did the replacement of just the glass of my IPhone5s in Alabang Town Center. They have the machine for that there.

It's still going to work. It just won't look as tidy. This is really only meant to be a temporary solution until you have the money to replace the screen.

Mine was cracked. It was cracked on the full screen

Mine is the Mini 4. I've not tried any of the iPad Air range. I think the mini is just perfect in size, weight and power.

It's also called 5 second fix or Bondic, I've not tried it myself but it seems to work well for fixing something clear or the outer surface of an object.
Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked some youtube vids of people who tried it and it secures the glass but doesn't really fix or hide the cracks. So I guess it's not much different from using the contact paper. Good idea though :)
Yeah, I didn't think it would, but generally speaking, the glass feels nicer than almost anything you'll put over your screen, so I figure covering the cracks would be a better solution to hold you over.
I know the feeling, though, I bought a used LG G4 with a broken screen, I had planned on fixing it as a new screen was only $30 (similarly the glass is attached to the display) but the seller did not explicitly state that the IMEI was blocked (didn't pay off the phone) and it wasn't worth sending it back so I settled on half my money back, basically I got a G4 for about $30 that isn't worth fixing but otherwise works fine.

do it yourself you dont need tool buy the front screen not the digitizer pull off stick on easy 10 min vids on youtube show how the screen i bought one for ipod touch for £10 and done it
I don't know about apple devices, but it highly depends on the type of adhesive used...
A lot of newer devices use a very hard to remove adhesive and after reapplying it you need to cure it using UV light, so it's usually not going to be a simple 10 minute fix if that's the case and you're going to need proper tools in order to replace it, even then you'll be lucky just to avoid breaking the display forcing you to replace the entire thing anyway.
