    Its sad that there are so many cats in the world that there's not enough time or people to take care of and give homes to all of them, so that they need to be put down. Its really sad, but I'm really glad these babies have the chance to find themselves forever homes.
    The cross-eyed baby is just so cute though... I would love him forever, my gosh XD

He's very smart and vigilant. I see improvement in his shyness but I can't hold him or pet him yet as he will run if I try, even gently.

    I'm hoping you can help me. I'm in Sacramento CA, and I'm feeding a number of feral cats who come to my yard. I'd like to get them fixed, but I don't have any space in my house for a cat to stay between getting trapped and their spay/neuter appointment, or afterward while they're recovering. Even my garage is full. I've been looking for someone in my area who's willing to help, but the best I've gotten is an offer to loan me traps. It would be a bonus if it were someone who could accurately assess whether the cats could be tamed, as there are a couple who I think could be and I'd love to see them in loving homes. My yard is a pretty safe place for kitties (I even sprung for a heated cat house), but being someone's cherished cat is better.

      I know it is bad, but I don't know what is worse: the father of a girl I know killed his kittens himself rather than getting them euthanized. They were super cute, but he didn't want to spend money on them or spend time to find them new owners, so he put them in a bag and chopped them up with an axe 😢😢😢

    • @Kalyahna
      @Kalyahna 3 года назад

      Then foster for them. Donate to them. Volunteer with them. Private rescues and no-kill shelters can (AND DO) turn animals away. Those animals then go to public/county shelters that have no choice but to take the animal. They have their limits - time, kennel space, money, foster homes. When those things run out (particularly kennel space and foster homes), they run out of options. No shelter *wants* to euthanize animals. They would like it very much if people would spay and neuter and be responsible pet owners!

Stephanie works with many area vets to help not only the healthy cats and kittens but also the health challenged severe cases that are in immediate danger of being euthanized. She has a network of fosters like yourself that work tirelessly for the well-being of all furbabies. I myself have former ferals Momma Kitty and her 2 daughters that now enjoy the good life indoors and we enjoy their grateful loving purrs, cuddles and kitty kisses 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

    • @juldansol
      @juldansol 3 года назад +1

      Over population and not enough services or resources to house them all. The cat population goes up every year because of irresponsible people who keep them outdoors and don't have them fixed. County shelters can only keep a few of them for so long, and if no one's adopting or donating, and if a few of them become ill, then they have no choice than to put them down because nobody wants to adopt a sick or injured kitten.

  • @matthewvoss7365

    We can afford to give billions of dollars to China or terrorist countries in the middle east but we don't have the money for animal shelters big enough to care for unowned cats and dogs. I love the USA but if there's one thing I really hate about my country----it's foreign policy.

    Wouldn't it be better to neuter and release them? Maybe half would still die in the wild, but that means half would live. If nothing else, think of the potential pest control in major cities.

  • @cute_canadian_redhead6747
    @cute_canadian_redhead6747 3 года назад +1

    If more shelters would neuter/spay more animals and adopt them out with a very minimal fee, they'd solve the back log pretty quickly. The high cost of adoption fees ensure animals stay there longer.

      if anyone is interested, The Kitten Lady Hannah Shaw wrote an excellent book on caring for the kittens who are most likely to be euthanized, those ill or under 8 weeks and needing extra care. It's very very detailed, it's amazing! You can partner with a shelter and take them when they have them come in instead of them being killed. The book is Tiny But Mighty!

      @@christenawalker2944 Cats bread incredible quickly. To the point that in many areas you have far too many cats to simply TNR. Cats pose a hazard to local wildlife. Although I hate the killing of any animal, you have to keep things balances and TNR alone isn't always enough. Having TNR cats wipe out local animal species (birds, lizards, frogs, tiny mammals, etc.) is substituting one type of murder for another based purely on how cute the little kittens are and how innocent they look. They are predators and they aren't native to that ecosystem.

I was interested to see, in another video, that you separated the more aggressive ones. It works, for sure. Good luck and well done for all your hard work. This pandemic has increased the amount of mums to be being discarded like rubbish, a shame, but that’s the reality of rescue.

    How the people that kill these babies can live with themselves amazes me, I could never do that. You are doing the best work! I've taken in several cats in my life and I know I gave them good lives and a warm home and plenty of food, they never feared for their next meal or lived in the cold. I had a little tuxedo runt that wouldn't let me leave the house he was born in without him, he was so little and so scared. I took him home and gave him 14 wonderful years of love, I lost him recently and I know that he and his sister would have never made it if we had left them. Never understand why shelter traps cats to "rescue" them, but kill them if they can"t socialize or find them a home. If you're going to kill them, let them at least try to live their lifes outside, it might be harsh but better than be dead with no chance at all just because some random people chose for them

    • @Kalyahna
      @Kalyahna 3 года назад

      It's not usually the shelter that's trapping them. It's usually the general public who then turn around and bring them to the shelter and the shelter has limited options (and limited time, kennel space, money, and foster homes).

    What’s the matter with the human race. Thank you for helping this cat

    • @cute_canadian_redhead6747
      @cute_canadian_redhead6747 3 года назад +1

      You ask what's the matter with the human race? Here is the answer, the uncomfortable truth. We abort babies, give pedophiles light sentences and treat children as disposable trash and yet people are surprised when people treat animals the same way. No society that condones murdering unborn children, dismissing them as clumps of cells, and sees their lives as disposable, unwanted and to be terminated without consideration will ever value any life be it human or animal. The longer that we tolerate and embrace the idea that the unborn are not human, that children have no value will become more abusive and hostile to the lives of animals as well. We can't even be decent to our own species and we are even worse to other species. The other problem is you then have those on the flip of that... they worship animal lives and yet seek to murder children while patting themselves on the back for their pseudo virtue. Pro-choice vegetarians are the worst hypocrites out there in regards to what is wrong with society.

    • @CrystalRose1111
      @CrystalRose1111 3 года назад +2

      I’m sorry but these comments are misguided. As an owner of two beautiful strays, cats are an invasive species in North America that repopulate way too quickly, endangering local native animals. Over 60 species of birds have gone extinct because of cats. As sad as it is they literally become a threat to the environment when this happens. No Kill shelters don’t always take every animal either. There’s not enough people and time to take care of every single stray kitten unfortunately. It’s really sad but this isn’t about humans being cruel for once.

    • @CrystalRose1111
      @CrystalRose1111 3 года назад +2

      @@cute_canadian_redhead6747 Also abortion’s are emergency medical procedures, and they are usually done as EMERGENCIES when giving birth could endanger the life of the woman. A fetus is not a live human baby. You don’t have to like it, but I just thought I’d drop that here since you brought it up on a kitten foster video.

    • @Kalyahna
      @Kalyahna 3 года назад

      @Destroyer of Bots I'm with you entirely on breeders, but there aren't always the options we want for TNR. It may not be legal in the area due to nuisance laws. There may not be any established colonies with caretakers. There may not be local rescue orgs who can take in a dozen kittens on little notice, or enough foster homes available.

    Disgusting that this shelter was going to put them down!
    They show a clear potential and just because they do not feel like working with them they were going to kill them.
    I find it sickening when shelters go "oh we havent found a home for them in the last few weeks so let's kill them" with cats and dogs. They treat them as a product instead of a living creature that needs to be loved!
    Shame on them!
    I am so happy the shelter I work at is a no kill shelter, sure some months we have a lot of kittens(both stray and feral) but if you spend a bit of time with them they can still become great pets. At this time we even have a higher demand for cats and dogs then we can suply and that makes me happy. Excluding the quarantine rooms(they can not be placed yet) we only have 2 cats and one dog up for adoption at this time. And if it would take 5 years for them to find a owner, then they will stay for 5 years!
    You don't need to spend 12h a day per kitten, but give them a cuddle a few times a day. If all employees do this between chores they will get used to people in no time.
    Adult cats that are too feral to rehabilitate, they are neutered and released back into their territory or are housed with farmers as a natural pest controll. And dogs that can not be placed due to health issues or agression, they will get a job as our guarddogs.
    It warms my heart to see someone with the same love for these animals giving them the chance they deserve.
    What you do is wonderfull, keep up the good work!

      I'm with u 100% on that. If they gonna put them down, they should at least let them try to live their life outside. They took them from their feral place and chose to put them down because they couldn't socialize or find them a home. If they didn't intrude in their life in first place they could have tried to live their life outside learning the feral way throught their moms, but just because they chose to take them at that early stage of their life, they made them unable to life outside by themselve. Really a shame. If you're going to take them out of their environnement you should commit to their well being and development in first place, not kill them because you failed. Plus imagine their mom finding suddenly that their kitten disappeared, they lowkey ignore animals feelings and mothers instict. Fucking pathetic. They could just have neutered them and put them back to their place to avoid growing cat population and let them live with their moms.
