- Neji Hyuga was regarded by many inside the hidden leaf village as one of Konoha's most skilled prodigies. During the Naruto vs Neji fight in the chunin exams, Neji was in complete control until Naruto tapped into the power of the nine tailed fox. When the story skipped to the Naruto Shippuden portion of the manga, Neji had achieved the rank of jounin, being the only member of the konoha 11 who held the rank at the time.
However, just how strong was Neji Hyuga? In this first installment of the Hyuga clan edition of the true power series, we're going to break down Neji's True Power!

Neji was my favorite character in the whole show and I cannot believe they just through away maybe one of the most powerful and greatest shinobi in the whole anime. I can't just wrap mind mind around how really dumb they were to throw all of that amazing potential in the trash, and the reason he died was to strengthen the relationship of Naruto and Hinata, so they killed off one of the most liked and popular characters just to frickin strengthen a relationship? That is so stupid.
They didn’t just throw him away. There’s more philosophical symbolism to the manga and anime than people realize, it’s the reason it’s a top 5 globally. Neji’s death was a signal of the shinobi world advancing in the right direction, it was an achievement, not a loss. Ultimately the Naruto universe would not be the sensation that it is without the very specific symbolism that was laboriously developed for our entertainment.

Neji's death should have been way more hardcore than what it was in the war every character should have gone full tilt at least once
so true they could have revealed new jutsus neji was working on in his last fight so that we could have seen some character development especially considering the fact that kishi hyped us up about the byakugan in the beginning of the series

@@tityajack I can't remember which game it was but neji had an attack called the 361 palm that shut off all 361 chakra points. It was so cool lol I used it all the time. And he had another palm attack that could destroy tailed beast bomb type attacks. Smh he was done so wrong in the series man...

I think an adult Neji would have definitely been Kage level potentially even rivaling somebody like Itachi. He also definitely would have been Naruto's left hand man no question. I could even see him being up for the position of hokage if something were to happen to Naruto and Sasuke. He wouldn't have been the strongest Hokage but he definitely would have been Powerful enough to give the other villages pause if they tried something.

He is one of my favorite characters. It seems like they should have had a huge role in the story but he may have become more of a rival for sauske and possibly overshadowed too many of the characters they wanted to touch on.
Hyuga clan didn't got the love it deserved. Most wasted potential.

Neji was always one of my favorites. Was sad when he died. I absolutely agree he was wasted potential, but I was never angry about it because there were so many ninja with vast potential in their generation and the one before it. And with so many moving parts, there had to be casualties. Also, had it been a weaker ninja that was killed, we may not understand the full scope of the 4th great ninja war. In other words... it really upset me, but I feel like I also understand why they did it.
I'm perplexed on why there is not a hyuga on the boruto teams.

Also I would have like to think that they would've taken precautions for the Byakugan of the main branch family falling into the hands of others but when I think about the issue with Toneri, Hanabi and even Ao I'm left to think differently now. Given his rate of improvement in his Hyuga techniques and Byakugan, his Air Palm should have been equal to Hiashi's and his Rotation and chakra defenses should have been impeccable, preventing his death. Hanabi, Himawari... they have nothing on anything he ever achieved in terms of sheer chakra control. His former self continues to be better than the current generation by far... With his speed, insight, chakra control, and multiple apparent chakra natures, he could have been kage level, easily.
Plot hole
There are two things that could prevent his death.
1. If there i enough time, for Hinata to run around Naruto and Neji Jumping infront of Hinata, there is obviously enough time for Hinata to drag Naruto out of the dangerzone.
2. Substitution

I remember after watching part one of naruto neji was one of my favorite characters! His fight with the sound four member was easily one of my favorite fights in the show & Neji was just a boss. Then I go to watch shippuden, excited about the character development a prodigy like Neji would receive anddddd!!!!!!!! Nothing we got nothing from Neji ever again smh, wasted one of the best characters in the series. #RIPNEJI

Neji should've incorperated wind style into his gentle fist style that way he could easily switch from taijutsu to ninjutsu and short to long range.

Hiashi Hyuga should've died in Neji's place, fulfilling his promise to his brother.
Also Neji should be the 3rd strongest ninja in the leaf, and unlocking unknown abilities of the byakugan, such as reading ppls minds and memories, being able to control others like Kaguya did to her son. And obtaining the Tenseigan with the mode and all.

Neji has 3 changes in Chakra as a genin but proceeds to never showcase them
Most of the Hyuga don't actually use ninjutsu as they prefer to rely only on the gentle fist which their ninja clan is know for, however I always thought this was why the Hyuga never progressed, imagine the insane chakra control granted by mastery of the gentle fist directed into using similar to the rasengan by channeling the rotation into a hand strike, my character that I made for a table top RPG uses the puppet master jutsu and earth release techniques

@@junglejuice4761 in a hand to hand combat a master of gentle fist would win against even an Uchiha with a fully developed sharingan even with ms or ems the speed of 64 palms would be to much for the sharingan to keep up with. However the uchiha have the edge in range combat. But yes the Hyuga allowed themselves to stagnate by not developing more ranged jutsu that took advantage of their byakugan or the ability to expel chakra from any chakra point

@@junglejuice4761 Susano are chakra based so provide they can get close enough to strike it or use air palm they can damage it it depends on if they can get close enough and the twin lion fist actually drains chakra from the target so it is a pretty good counter in close range but the susuano can decimate at a distance but rotation can probably protect them for a small time till they get close

They should've given us the Neji vs Sasuke fight at the Chunin Exams. Neji is my favorite hyuga and my favorite Naruto Storm character to play. They should've sacrificed Kaguya and left us Neji.
After thinking this over, Neji really needs more feats. Particularly some speed feats.
A few people have convinced me he would not project as high as I thought based on evidence and not what I think to be his ceiling.
I should have more evidence to say one way or the other.
James Toombs the real problem was the writer used neji as a tell not show character. So we kept getting told that he was amazing and that he progressed more than normal but because he couldn’t fit in with plot that was outlined he didn’t get an opportunity to show what he was capable of. Aaaand I think the writer kind of forgot and dropped the idea of developing the byakugan/hyuga

I wouldn't put him that high, but he was definitely powerful. Neji was a master of the Gentle Fist from a young age, canonically the most skilled member of the Hyuga clan and a superior fighter to Rock Lee. I'd say he's around the skill level of Asuma or Zabuza.

I can see that. Neji is definitely the superior fighter in a close-quarters scenario, both in terms of Taijutsu and agility; however, Asuma and Zabuza are more versatile. They do pretty well at a distance, while Neji struggles a bit in that department. That's why I say they're around the same level ^^
@@JayfroC He should have been Low-Kage level given his rate of improvement at a young age. He had already surpassed his clan members and Jonin level ninja by age 13, no differently than characters like Itachi. If Kishimoto wasnt a shit, cheap writer , Neji would have advanced to low kage level by part two, and the rest of the konoha 11, minus Sasuke and Naruto, would NOT be able to touch him. He was vastly ahead of his generation.
Oh, I agree. As far as I'm concerned, both Neji and Lee *should* 100% have been Kage-tier fighters in part 2, given that they were the two hardest workers of the bunch and started the series way above Naruto and Sasuke in terms of skill. But unfortunately, they were side characters bound to become irrelevant.
Still, he was super impressive. No one will convince me that Neji (and Lee) can be beaten in a pure Taijutsu confrontation, unless we're talking about Might Guy, dudes with protagonist power or some BS god-tier opponent.
I feel that Neji and Sasuke should’ve trained Boruto
Neji Was always one of my favourite characters, In my opinion, His back story should have been told in Shippuden and not in the Original series. If Kishimoto did it that way Neji could have been a character that was mysterious and could potentially show us the Full power of the base Byukugan.I see him as being the one character in the OG series to master the Byakugan possibly being on the level of a powerful Akatsuki member by his story arks end. He would battle someone like Kakazu and push the Byakugan to its limits and in his moment of despair, we'd see his back story finally.
but all that potential was wasted so that Naruto could get his shine both times. I say this a lot because it's true, Shippuden Would have been A whole lot better if The Konoha eleven battled the Akatsuki one by one ending with Naruto beating Pain, but again that's just my opinion.

Plot threads were only used to advance naruto and sasuke.
Every other character was used as a leap pad for m.c
They could have more sloy threshed the characters.
My guess is Neji is like Itachi. If Itachi would have been alive during the war and fought Madara he would not have got far. vs Neji the otsuki clan well kaguya clan would have a hard time against neji because he prob would have got advanced to their level.
A shame we never seen a real Neji fight in Shippuden
I really wish these things could of been shown to us through filler arcs....there was so much room for it and all side characters could of gotten a chance to have good showings that are accurate to their abilities. Hopefully Samurai8 will be more like that since Kishimoto is focusing specifically on writing and handpicked an artist to draw for him

Taking into account that Neji was evolving at such a rapid pace I am in the firm belief that his byakugan could have been Kaguya level. Neji would have been a very useful weapon in boruto, him and Sasuke would have went and saved Naruto on their own. And imo Neji would have slapped any of the kage but would have been interesting fight with Gaara.

He should’ve never died. Neji was a whole prodigy and hinata’s father even admitted that he was the most Hyūga out of anyone in his blood. Hinata could not even surpass him until she was an adult. He would’ve been the strongest Hyūga and I believe he would’ve transcended the Hyūga clan to new levels. Obviously it’s not a mangekyou sharingan ,but still wasted potential. I would’ve enjoyed if they awaken more steps as well like sharingan ,but I see why they didn’t do that.

Shikimaru lost his fight but apparently showed enough promise to be promoted to Chunin so he could lead the squad in the Sasuke retrieval arc. Are you telling me that Neji or Shikimaru could beat the same Naruto who fought and beat Gaara who became a Kage 3 years later who used his play possum jutsu to summon the full One Tails is not Chunin? Tell me how Neji and Shikimaru would win against Chief Toad. It’s not just because he’s a main character but because he’s stronger than both of them. This is why Oda-sensei is the superior writer than Kishimoto-sensei. Oda-sensei gives even the minor characters time to shine, like for example Bon-chan, now that's a good character even if he's just a minor character. On the otherhand, Kishimoto-sensei has so much awesome ideas for his characters but then forgets about it because he's so focused on the Uchiha. He even kinda shove one of his main character Sakura to the side and now a lot of people are hating on her. I know Naruto was inspired by Dragonball but he doesn't have to be inspired by Toriyama-sensei's tendency to forget things in his own story. But I know it's not entirely his fault, I'm pretty sure his editor played a big part in the down fall of Naruto.

To Anwser your question on Neji possibly being able to read minds like kaguya did and competing with Momoshiki? I believe it was possible and here’s why. 1. As mentioned & seen, Neji already processed the ability to read emotions as he did with Hinata during the chunin exams. As well how much his visual powers and skill grew in part 2.
2. If Neji was still alive I believe he would’ve been the one to save Hanabi from Toneri and gotten Hamura Chakra instead of Hinata.
3. As a result of receiving Hamura’s Chakra this would possibly let Neji awaken the Tenseigan. Just how Sasuke awaken the rinnegan from receiving Hagoromo Chakra.
4. With the Tenseigan this will allow Neji to compete with Momomshiki maybe not win but would be a great battle.

MAAD TEE Well in order to get the Tenseigan you combine the chakra of a Hyuga & Otsutsuki clan member. I mentioned this will be similar to how Sasuke got his rinnegan from Hagoromo giving sasuke his chakra. Plus Neji was more skilled then Hinata & Hanabi. As well considered to possibly having a kekkei genkai stronger than any other present Hyuga member. So it’s possible but that’s just my Theory 🤷🏽♂️

The one issue I had with Neji is that we never see him use those chakra natures as far as I remember. Those would have come in handy in a lot of the fights he was in.

Neji is fast as fuck. Remember when he crossed this huge amount of terrain (while bleeding to death) in order to give the killing blow to Kidomaru before he hit the ground? Not to mention that Lee, unfortunately, never managed to surpass Neji. Neji HAS to be fast if he can beat Lee in a 1v1 Taijutsu battle.

I respect and fuck with Swagkage, but while Neji is at a disadvantage depending on who he fights, Neji isn't a pushover. Naruto versus battles are soooo tricky. Too many factors to take into account, which is why I don't do those types of videos.

If he had made it into adulthood, his eyes would probably have been the ones that were stolen in Naruto the Last, IF they could have gotten close enough. In my opinion the bykugan should be the eye that's able to copy jutsus just by looking at it. I mean it make more sense that an eye which can see through objects, see chakra flow and nature would be able to know how chakra works when a jutsu is being performed
If Tsunadai or Hashirama activates their regeneration abilities and get hit with a “gentle fist 64 palm” will they be able to recover?

During the final stage of the war Madara gain power of the six path, and regeneration due to hashirama cells. Kishimoto stated to have no idea how to defeat Madara but wouldn’t the answer be in “Team Guy”.
Tenten: tho a joke was able and has the potential to master the weapons made from the sage of six path and actually damage him.
Neji: With the Gentle fist he will be able to mess up his chakra control, slow down or potentially stop his regeneration, and maybe with all these chakra corruptions he will not be able to maintain control of the ten-tails that was inside him.
Lee: Since ninjustu doesn’t work his taijustu would be the most effective.
Team Guy as a whole specializes in taijustu which is the only way to damage him.

Rember this while it is true the guy and kakashi were able to hold of 6 to a minimum of 4 tailed beast by themselves even then it was just bearly. Team guy as a collective is still weaker than that from what we seen. Madura before getting the ten tails while he was temporarily blinded and freshly revived soled all 9 tailed beast including half of kurama controlled by naruto which is in fact stronger than an individual half 9 tails. Just think about how astranomicly strong the madura was and then you realize why guy decided right of the bat to go eight gate. Team ten would be squashed and get in the way of Guy. During that metaphorical fight even then in the maga it was shown multiple times that the charcters on the side lines watching 8th gate guy literally break himself had to intervene in order to keep guy form being stabbed or immobilized and this madura was lowkey playing around. While yes I aee your point about how team Guy really was a perfect counter to then that form of madura they were all just to individually not strong enough to compare to him remember the version of madura was the second God tier threat that we seen other than jubito. @@maadtee6281 The reason Neji doesn't learn the 8th gates is because he isn't built for it. Rock Lee is a genius in his own right, even Kakashi only has the 1st one. This is different. Sakura uses her Chakra control to focus Chakra out of her fist. The Gentle fist does the same but through even smaller focused point. If force applied with the punch was the same with the palm or the poke there would still be precise internal damage on various chakra points and organ but accompanied but massive blunt force and piercing power. Ejecting chakra forcefully all in one moment over not the fist, but individual chakra points. Not to mention much more chakra to work with in jutsu like rotation, air palms or feeding more chakra to the Byakugan
@@ontoya1 I never mentioned anything about the 8 gates just that neji fighting style is different from that of gai and Lee that's why he hasn't tried to fight using their style even without the 8 gates cause it doesn't support him. Byakugan style deals internal damage and Sakura fighting style deals external damage just like Lee's style
Hey here is a idea for a hyuga video. The possible applications of the byakugan and gentle fist that never was shown due to lack of screen time.
Afterall in this vid u said how would the sharingans eye of insight deal with the byackugan. The problem with that is according to kakashi the byackugan is superior in the eye of insight category. Thats where the byackugan is better. Where as sharingan uses a watered down eye of insight and the hypnotic eye. I have always believed it may very well have been possible for a hyuga to copy a jutsu. It has allthe abilities that would allow for it to do so.
