Hey Burt can you make a video soon to explain a bit how to play better or hold on to the puck, score. I play champs and i cannot get more then 7-9 wins…. It’s frustrating, you got any tips please to get maybe that 11-13 win zone. Im a division 4 player
@@burtkrown8842 yeah I know, what i meant is showing us how to finish a chance is good, but showing us how to create a chance would be even more helpful
To create chances: 1. If the AI team is playing very aggressively (i.e. going after your player as soon as they touch the puck by throwing hits or poke checking), use this to create space and chances by making smart passes. Try not to panic pass. If the AI is constantly rushing you, they're creating space on the ice for your other players, so keep the puck moving by passing to OPEN players (the AI is unreal at intercepting passes if they're close to the player receiving the pass or in the passing lane). Also, protect the puck. Do not carry the puck through the neutral zone and skate too close to the AI because they will pokecheck it away. Juke them by slightly skating one way before going the way you actually wanted while maintaining space. 2. Practice tip shots from the point. Even if they do not go in, it'll often create chances for rebounds. 3. Go in the corners of the O-zone with a player (preferably one with high agility/elite edges) and bait the AI to move away from the front of the net. Often times this can create gaps in front of the net for your player to move laterally and get a pretty consistent goal by aiming for the bottom corner (far side). I find it works best for left-handed players, in which case, you'll come from the right circle/corner of the O-zone, bait the AI towards you, use your agility to get around them, move laterally through the slot, and aim for the far left side of the net (usually bottom corner is more consistent). 4. On breakaways, do not skate straight at the goalie. Skate at one of the posts, slightly off-center from the goalie. For example, say you have a left-handed player, skate towards the right post, and then, when you make your backhand to forehand deke (or forehand to backhand if coming from the other side and skating at the left post), move towards the left post as you do so to throw the goalie off a bit. It's all about making the goalie move and give up space. 5. Shoot the puck often. Far-side shots from the slot go in a surprising amount. I typically aim for the bottom corners far side as this could create a rebound too. 6. Use born leader if you have it and throw hits with that player. It'll help reboost your team's stamina which will help you get your top line/d pairings out more often. 7. Don't be afraid to use your defenseman in the O zone if they have a good shot/agility (i.e. Quinn Hughes, Dahlin, Makar). Although, if you mess up, this could lead to a breakaway for the AI, so be careful. 8. Agility and elite edges will go a long way in helping you create space to make passes or take shots at this stage in the game. Speed is also king at this stage. 9. Change your offensive strategy to aggressive (use the d-pad, I believe, during the game to change it). I find it makes a difference, but maybe that is just me. 10. Don't be afraid to skate in the O zone and hold onto the puck so you can find an open man for a one-timer. If you have room, you can circle the net a few times a la Kaprizov. Also, don't be afraid to pass the puck backward in the neutral zone and into your d zone to an open player if you don't have space. Do the old Soviet strategy and maintain possession until you find an opening you like. 11. Practice reverse hits to help you hold onto the puck. Not the most important thing, but useful. 12. If you have time before a shot, sometimes doing a quick backhand to forehand and then shooting the puck will throw off the goalie, even if you're not super close to them 13. Use angles to your advantage. Shooting the puck when you're centered with the goalie is futile. 14. Change lines when you have the opportunity and your players are low on stamina. AI likes to hit which can wipe your stamina, leaving depleted players on the ice for a long time before they'd "naturally" go off for a change. 15. Practice these and different strategies on lower difficulties for a game or two to get used to them and then move up to superstar. Defense: 1. Truculence/big players help a lot. Try and balance fast and small defensemen (Makar, Hughes, Josi) with a bigger defensemen (Hedman, Power, Mcsorley). There are more options, I'm just listing cheaper ones. 2. Poke checking is inconsistent as the AI always gets the puck back, but it can still be useful. Just don't poke check a player from behind (if they already skated past you) as it often draws penalties. Obviously, bigger players are much more useful for poke checking. 3. When defending in your own zone, focus on defending and not breaking out of your own zone/getting a breakaway. You need the puck first to do that. 4. Use sticklifting, especially along the boards. It doesn't draw a penalty nearly as much as in NHL 23. Just don't spam it. Also useful in the O zone. 4. Win faceoffs. Having someone with a high faceoff rating and/or quick draw helps for both offense and defense so you start with the puck. MSP Hischier is a good option. 85 Taylor Heise is a very cheap option (88 faceoffs no quickdraw though). Giroux is a free option but can be a pain to get. 5. Try not to let your defenseman get stuck in the O zone or neutral zone, leading to an odd-man rush. 6. Make sure to cover the AI players in front of the net. They always seem to get rebounds or go for one-timers to those players. 7. Pressure the AI defenseman at the blue line because it'll force them to pass it, but don't do this if it leaves an AI player open for a one-timer or alone in front of the net. 8. When going for loose pucks, remember what Gretzky said: Don't go where the puck is, go where it's going to be. I'm sure other players have much better tips, but I hope this is a good start, and that it makes sense. It's harder to write about it than it is to show it.
@@t.s.3628 thanks I appreciate it, so I do all of that, but vs 84 and higher teams its much harder. My biggest problem is protecting the puck, I was really bad at it last year too

My 84 goalie lets everything in even on pro seems harder this year I use to play on superstar
Who’s your goalie and what type of goals are going in
This is helpful, but showing us how to create chances vs high rated teams on superstar, or even how to defend would be more helpful

I will look at a defensive video here soon
