There are no dum questions 😀 and Yes thats exactly what you can do. Shoot in HDR so it captures details in Bight and dark areas. Then in an editor as you said deliver in Rec 709 so no one has issues and it still looks great! . Also as it's in HDR you have a choice of delivering in 10bit HDR if you wanted to . Win win!

In CinemaP3 I have noticed that SDR, too, has a 10 bit option. Am I right?
