I use to play in the Arena Football League and I have to say you did a good job explaining the rules
Thanks again Manny!
Manuel Diaz, Jr. was it fun?I wanna make some kind of football league when I’m older.
What's the pay?
Why you lying
How do you join an arena league?
I feel that Arena Football is TOTALLY underrated! I love the game! I wish it would become the standard off-NFL season game. Great video as always Ninh!
***** Hey Nick, welcome back! I agree with you ... Arena Football is better than what most people give it credit for. It's actually pretty fun to watch and it plays a damn-sight quicker than the NFL. I still believe that the NFL comes up with a development league that plays in summer, but Arena Football is a viable substitute.
Thanks for stopping by! :)
+Nick Sharrer Where I live we have a minor league variant called indoor football which is essentially the same game without the rebound nets. They just hang a goal post from the ceiling. There's a team called the Maryland Eagles which play at an ice rink covered with turf in Wheaton, MD. The rebound nets were patented by the Arena Football League. Washington will get an expansion team next year, that will play at the Verizon Center and they just hired their head coach. They used to have a team in the early days of the league called the Commandos.
rockvilleraven Yeah the Washington Valor. They couldve just brought back the old Commandos but im ok with it
It could become a development development league like the nab has the g league
I love going to arena football games because there is just so much energy and unlike the NFL’s massive stadiums in arena football no matter where you sit you can see every thing and you feel so close to the action
Yeah, Arena Football has that advantage. Too bad there's only 5 teams left in the league.
As a huge football fan I can watch any form of it and it's a shame that arena is not more popular it's a very fun exititing game and it's very fan friendly. The league though always have terms doling even one that have been around for a while like the Voodoo.
+bulldogsbob Agreed. It's a pretty cool version of football and I'm so surprised that it's not taken off the way it probably should?
A huge reason is all the terms that have folded even good teams like the sabercats. A cool hung I think you should mention is that is a ball goes out of bounds and a fan catches it the fan gets to keep the ball.
Not always. Some teams won't let you keep the ball.
DaTwistedOne1
All the arena games I went to they did.
It's different so it's cool to see different things done and how it's played
All indoor football leagues should join as one indoor football league and become a new NFL development league. Plus can you do a video on indoor soccer and paintball please.
Unfortunately, indoor football has different strategies due to the field size and would not be suitable for an NFL D-League. Besides, the NFL is already developing an outdoor D-League as we speak.
Ohhh I hope fresno has a team because I come from Fresno California
I know they've got several cities lined up for it. It's in the early stages.
Edgar Hernandez indoor leagues and especially AFL won't do it
the problem with that is just because you're in the AFL doesn't mean you weren't good enough to play in the NFL some people just fit better in the AFL. Making the AFL a developmental league would be a direct insult to the skill of these athletes. Keep in mind they're professional too.
I like arena football. It's action-packed and high scoring. I'm bummed that the Arena Football League folded, and now I don't have an indoor football team to cheer for, but the Indoor Football League, which I just discovered, streams its games on its RUclips channel, so that's like a treasure chest.
Shame it died.
they need a videogame to challege madden, this is tied as being a good idea
Lisa Pfalzgraf Yes, Arena Football would be cool to put on a video game! Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
they used to have Arena Football and Arena Football : Road To Glory on Playstation 2 but the game never hit the market, not many copies were sold and I don't EA trusted the project. (sorry for my english, I'm french)
Thomas S yeah it did hit the market but i cant seem to find out how many copies ea sold
Blitz
Lisa Pfalzgraf They did make a game. far as i know. They only made one game. I owned the game an loved it. It was for just the regular XBOX
I live in the us and have never heard of this, seems cool
+Riley Johnson It is cool! Shame it doesn't get more coverage in the US and the rest of the world. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Lol me too
+Riley Johnson ESPN and ESPN 2 will broadcast these games in a few months actually.
American Dad has a couple episodes about it
Arena Football is underrated !
Totally! Shame the league only has like, 5 teams now or something.
Ninh Ly Yeah hopefully the AFL can bounce back! Good news is some AFL teams have jumped to the IFL, that's a fun league and they stream games on RUclips!
I didn't know they streamed on RUclips, that's awesome.
how many leagues are in the US ? cuz Iheard about the AFL, IFL, NAL and is it this so unpopular ?
There's a few, yeah. But i don't think it's the fact that there's so many different leagues that's the problem.
I dunno why it's unpopular, I think it's a great sport - I'd go and watch it if it was available near me?!
Watching this on the day the AFL died. 11/26/19. It was a fun time while it lasted...
Yes, they have been dying for a while. It had to end sometime.
The Orupturetan dame really ? Rip
@@NinhLyUK There are still other leagues, like the NAL and IFL. They're much more regional, however.
Thanks a ton. I'm about to start playing indoor football and this video was immensely useful. Hope to see more in the future
Thanks for the comments Apollo, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
RIP AFL
1986-2019
Indeed.
Ninh Ly what happened?
@@tacoblude8208 They got hella broke
I love the Arena Football League. Great video man!
PieEater Thanks man. It's a shame that a lot more people don't know more about the AFL - it's a great sport to watch! Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Excellent video. Concise yet well detailed. I watch and understand football, I just wasn't familiar with the specifics of AF. Solid work. 🏈
Thanks man, I appreciate the comment!
Have I ever told you how awesome your videos are, keep up the good work
+Newyorkrangersfan0623 LETS GO RANGERS I'll try man, it's getting hard to make videos with my day job, but I'll try. :)
I've been to an arena football game and it is awesome!
+Wil the Warrior I bet it is. I would love to go to a game one of these days ... hopefully before all the teams relocate again! :)
The most helpful videos I've ever watched! Thanks a bunch (I've made sure to subscribe, like and share!)
+Alfie Kershaw Thanks Alfie! I'm glad you found these videos helpful!
Not a bad rundown. There was one thing that you did get wrong which I am unsure if someone pointed out (based on the AFL rulebook).
Of the three lineman, one of the tackles is designated a tight end. It is not a specific location so either of the tackles can designate themselves as the tight end for the play by raising his hand prior to the snap of the ball to signal to the referees that he is the tight end and eligible to catch a pass.
In your image, the tight end you referred to is one of the three wide receivers (see my rough outline below).
Of the three wide receivers, one is designated a "man in motion" and is the only player on the offensive team that can make a forward or lateral motion behind the line of scrimmage prior to the snap.
WR T C TE WR
QB WR
FB
So much more fun to watch than outdoor football. Shame it isn't as popular.
Great vid man, I haven’t seen your channel but make more of these please!
I've always prefered the arena rules over the American traditional rules. Sucks that 3 teams left the league this season (vegas and NO folding and Spokane going to the IFL). But we usually end up bouncing back one way or another.
+Beewalkerr Yeah it sucks that the AFL has so little teams these days. It's a shame because it's a great sport to watch. I'd happily own an AFL team! Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
The IFL is still really stable compared to the AFL
Vegas didn't fold, they moved to Cleveland (which is damn near the same thing really)
CONSOLETRUTH2 I was referring to the Vegas Outlaws, which was a different franchise from the Gladiators.
Lies again? Goal Arena Smart Bundesliga
Don’t usually comment. I watched til the end and heard you say it takes a long time to make one of these videos, so I felt I’d give thumbs up and comment to let you know what a good job you’ve done.
Thanks Jose - glad you like this video.
It's a labour of love sometimes, but I'm happy that these things help and entertain people.

Great video. Also, I'm glad you used my hometown team, the Soul, in your video.
patsflysfan2 Yeah the Philly Soul Rocks. And they're doing pretty good this season. I tried to contact them about acquiring a game worn jersey (best uni's in the league) but I heard nothing back. I'm sure I can get my friend in Harrisburg to send me a replica jersey or something. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe if you haven't already :)
I remember going to a Utah Blaze (one of the old teams) game back in 2013. It was awesome.
They were a cool team. Used to have a Utah Blaze game worn jersey!
Nice to see you included the drop kick in this one.
Yeah, finding footage was painful though.
Good video, thanks for the time you put into these!
+TJ Roybal You're welcome, I appreciate the comments! Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Ninh Ly ķo
Niceeee, this is what i wanted, thanks Ninh :DD
Danko Cimbaljevic Any time, Danko - I'm glad you approve of this Rules of Arena Football video. Be sure to share this video! :)
This game is so underrated
Agreed! Shame about the AFL's marketing and logistics. Only 5 teams left in the league. Ouch!
Thanks for another great vid!
Cheers Mark! Appreciate the comments!
i was at that game
Awesome! Dan Raudabaugh is a beast!
Wow this is my first time knowing about this league it looks interesting imma watch it
Yeah, it's a cool league to watch if you can.
Check out my channel for more like this :)
I remember going to Semi Pro Arena football games here in Augusta, GA ( Augusta Stallions -> Augusta Colts ) I miss losing my voice at the games ! Fun times
I could be wrong but I don't think I heard anything about touchbacks which in arena football bring the offense out to the 5 yard line.
I thought I had arena football down, but I had no idea that drop kicks were worth more!
TheNeers71 Yeah, drop kicks are worth more. I think they tried to encourage kickers to do that more, but it's not happened in years in the AFL. Thanks man, be sure to share this video :)
@Ninh Ly you forgot about a ruge or douse it’s where if you kick a kickoff through the uprights it’s worth 2 points
I love this channel❤️❤️
Cool, thanks man.
Be sure to share this video so that other people know about it.
Great job.
I liked this video, ha my High School plays 8 man football, and I was curious as to a few of the rule changes and field schematics.
Awesome! Thanks man!
I live in Arizona and I've gone to a bunch of Rattlers games. It's pretty fun and kinda fast pace which helps the attention span sometimes if games are going slow in the NFL and plus with the Rattlers being pretty good and winning championships so it's really fun haha
Yeah, I believe so. The fast paced nature of the game is cool to watch, for sure.
I just discovered your content and I must say, good show, sir! (Pun intended lol).
Thanks Robert, much appreciated!
Great video! Only thing I would change is the detail about the Jack Linebacker. The Jack can move laterally from wall to wall. The 5 yd. limitation is only from the Line of Scrimmage back.
AFL Slasher Thanks for the comment on this Arena Football video. Yes, I'm fully aware that the jack linebacker limitation of 5 yards is from the line of scrimmage before the snap, probably should have explained it that way. But you get my drift. Thanks again, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Great vid
Thanks bro, much appreciated!
You should do the rules of Squash. I played that when I was younger, and it was kind of fun once you got the hang of it.
Tim Olson I have that on my list, but it'll take some time to make, as I'm waaaaay behind on my video making schedule. Thanks for the suggestion, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Proper good video
Thanks again Steven.
Thank you!
As soon as drop goal was mentioned a sigh of relief by rugby league fan
Awesome video again!
JKABOOM 17 Thanks ... again! As you can tell, I'm starting to run out of legitimate sports to make videos about :)
I'm pretty sure you'll think of new content and I will be here to support you for it :)
JKABOOM 17 I appreciate the support. Thanks ! :)
Didn't know this was a thing but it looks and sounds like a great alternative to the NFL
Yes, it's pretty cool to watch. Shame that the AFL business model is crap and there's only 5 teams left in the league. The end is nigh.
Ayee I can't wait to play it
Thanks for the comments Ahmad, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
You just earned a sub
Cool, thanks bro.
Went to a Detroit fury game at the palace of Auburn Hills back in the day!
Those were the days!
Nice video
Bagas Irwansyah Thanks man, I appreciate the kind comments. Be sure to share this video and subscribe if you haven't already :)
It would be interesting too see the NFL too add the drop kick
They already do, but it's rarely used.
The last successful drop kick was Doug Flutie playing for the Patriots (if I'm not mistaken).
Was a big fan of the Tulsa Talons back in the day. Miss em.
It's a shame that the Arena Football League is turning out the way that it is right now. Back in the day, lots of teams like yours and it was actually competitive and fun to watch.
Yeah, and now they're trying to expand into China. Seems like the league is getting desperate.
Desperate indeed! Slamball are doing the exact same thing ... trying to expand in China instead of focusing on the US.
I miss the big rivalry between the Tulsa Talons and the OKC Yard Dawgz. Always fun to watch. Now both teams are inactive.
One thing about the safety. I'm fairly certain that an offensive player is tackled in their own endzone, the defense gets 2 points (which you addressed) AND the ball (I could be wrong, though, having been wrong before)
Please do more vids man!
Good video
Thanks Noah, much appreciated.
Ninh can you make a video explaining if a NFL Development League will ever work?
Ryan H. Excellent idea! There's an ongoing debate as to if/when the NFL will have a whole development league directly beneath the NFL itself. I can certainly jot down the idea, but it might take me a while to make the video - as I've got a load of other videos to make first. Thanks for the cool idea, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
+Ninh Ly thanks
They should make a Canadian Indoor Football League based on 3 downs and multiple players in motion.
make it a 55 yard field too haha
@@argentinevol6720 Good idea!
@@argentinevol6720 also make it a 10 yrd end zone so 1/2 the CFL's 20yr end zone. or 7.5yrds deap. Actually, I don't think most arenas could fit that size field without getting rid of a lot of seats.
And 9 players instead of 8!
Are there any touch backs on kickoffs or turnovers?
Besides Ebay I am looking to get AFL caps of former teams. Do you know where I can get them?
Apart from eBay? That's probably the best place to look. You might find some other classified ads that might sell them, but eBay is your best bet.
Man I love my cities soul
They are pretty awesome! Dan Raudabaugh is a beast.
+1 sub, great vid
Thanks Kiko, much appreciated!
Np :D
Arena football looks so fun
Yeah it does.
Too bad the league itself is dying a horrible game.
Nice Sir 💖
Thanks Zahoor!
You did miss one rule about Arena Football. A ball carrier is allowed to use the walls/boards along the sidelines as rebound walls as long as they are not pushed into the wall. If they are pushed into the wall, they are considered to be out of bounds and are down, all other instances of hitting the walls do not constitute being out of bounds.
Arena Football is so much fun to watch, though it has fallen off a lot lately. Games are usually very high scoring and because of how fast paced everything is it lends itself well to entertainment.
There's lots of rules I didn't explain bro. It's virtually impossible to explain the rule book in less than 6 minutes.
Having said that, Arena Football is really fun. Too bad they've (as you correctly pointed out) fallen off a cliff as of late.
Thanks
Anytime, glad you like this video!
Check out my channel for more like this! :)
The rules of Flag Football and the rules of Polo? Just some suggestions. Good work on these awesome videos!
Elliott Cox Polo yes, Flag football no - it's not really a professional sport. Thanks for the comments on this video, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
I went to an arena football match in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It was fast paced fun action for cheap. AND IT WAS A SELL OUT!
Really? Wow, those were the days! Now the AFL is a mess with only 5 teams in the entire league. Such a shame, it was a good product. Thanks for stopping by!
Ninh, have you heard of a sport called Calcio Storico? I stumbled across it the other day and watched this year's championships or whatever and kind of liked it and got the general gist of it. I don't know if you're still adding sports to your list of videos to make but I thought I might just throw this one out there. And also Polo is another sport I'd love to see you do a video on. Keep up the good work.
Henry 52 Yes I have ... it's bat-sh*t crazy! There are no rules - you just have to get the ball to the other side of the field BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! This includes punching, kicking, grappling etc. Why it's called Calcio Storico (Historic Football) is beyond me, as kicking the ball is rare. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Ninh Ly It's called Calcio Storico because is considered an early form of football, in fact, football is called calcio in Italy due to a resemblance with the calcio fiorentino, the original game
Javier Alvarez I'm fully aware of that, I was disputing why it was called 'football' when it clearly should be called 'beat-the-sh*t-outta-some-dude-ball'. It's slightly more accurate!
I think you could create a great new sport out of the rules of this Historic Sport.
Nice
Thanks bro, much appreciated!
Could you make another NFL rules video? Because a lot of new rules have been put in the rule book such as returning pat's and two points for scores
+Anton Vargas (JimmyHopkins232) I'm going to say no, mainly because those rules changes affect the NFL only, and not to the wider sport of American Football (which is what that video was about). If you haven't already: help me out by sharing this video and subscribing:)
+Ninh Ly can u make a video on the schedule in the nfl and how its chosen what teams play what
Toontowwn Rewritten Don't think it needs a video to explain. it's fairly easy:
Every team plays six games against the other three teams in its division, facing off twice per season - once at home and once on the road.
Every team plays one game against each of the four teams from a division in the other conference once per season - two games at home and two on the road. These matchups are also determined by a rotation, which ensures that all teams play every team from every division in the other conference once every four years.
Every team plays its remaining two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference - one game at home and the other on the road. The matchups are determined by where the teams finished in their divisions in the previous season. For example, a team that finished the previous year in third place in its division will play the third-place teams from the two other divisions in its conference
Oh, Ninh, When you make the video about the bandy rules? :'(
Josue Jafet Santos Matus It's on the list, but like I said to you ... I don't promise to make it anytime soon. There's a lot of videos I need to make first before that one. Thanks for your continuing interest! Help me out by sharing this video :)
Hey man.
Have you considered making an difference video between men's arena and LFL?
In terms of rules, I men rather then just gender.
Maybe, if I get enough footage. But I think we all know why we watch the LFL! Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Errrr... I also watch because it's football. Not just eye candy. Also maybe the closest we get to competitive and watchable US women's football.
Great vid as usual sound a bit contested though you doing good?
Daxon Gooding Thanks man, yeah I'm doing good. Starting to run out of sports to do and am looking to go in a new direction for my future videos. I've still got a few sports ones left to do, so it won't change for the next few weeks. Thanks for stopping by!
I miss your videos ninh:(
+CODNOOB223 Yeah sorry I've not made one in a while. Been undergoing two house renovations, a change in career and have just been too busy to make videos. Fortunately, I'm starting up again soon, so keep an eye out for my new videos coming up in the next few weeks :)
So, do they not have a half-back?
If the ball carrier is in contact with the side wall, is he only "down" if a defender touches him?
cryogeneric
No if they touch it it's out of bounds no exceptions
You should do an indoor cricket video
+Steve Greenberg Another person asked me for that, but I doubt it'll get made unless, like, hundreds of people request it. Thanks for the idea, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
You didn't talk about the ball, is it heavier?
Did he explain Uno's or whatever they're called now? Like on kick off when they kick a field goal
No, I didn't think that was a thing?
Ninh Ly I think it is, or could just be NAL. Im not 100% sure
Ninh you should make a video on indoor cricket
+Stevey G Ummm, it's not really a very popular sport. In my other videos, I cover Cricket and explain the difference between the three main kinds, but indoor variety isn't that popular. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
Interesting, so it is basically a NFL version of futsal. How popular is this variation outside of the U.S I wonder?
Not very. The AFL itself is dying a horrible death.
I've loved watching Arena Football since '01 when I started to get season tickets to the San Jose SaberCats. Loved going to the games every year and actually looked forward to the season. It's a shame San Jose has decided to fold.
+Rob Leano A lot of teams fold in the AFL for some reason. It's a shame because I think it's a great sport! Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
+Ninh Ly San Jose was one of the most successful teams in the league, and won the last Arena Bowl. They folded because the owners didn't like the way the heads of the league were running things. They thought the heads were demanding too much money with little promise of results for the league.
What kind of field do they play on? It looks hard
I think it's artificial turf that they just roll over concrete and/or the ice pad underneath. Not very comfortable I can imagine.
Can you do one on the rules of pro boxing?
+Juan Sol Badguy Maybe if I get the demand sure!
Can anyone explain the Jack linebacker position clearer for me? As of now I believe they must lineup over the TE or FB. When the ball is snapped the Jack is free to move sideline to sideline but can not exceed more than 5 yards backwards from the line of scrimmage. Is this correct?
Roughly yes.
Ninh Ly anymore details on that. I’m all ears
Can you do these sports?
Water Polo
Squash
Racquetball
Futsal
Beach Soccer
I'd go on but the list is already long and I don't want to overwhelm you.
Daniel K I realise that there's a million other sports out there, but none of which I'm dying to do. As I've previously stated: if I get enough demand for any one sport, I'll make them.
But I'm reaching the end of the lifespan of this particular playlist. To get more views, I'm going to need a different approach.
Thanks again!
Ninh Ly Ok Gotcha :)
Tell me the rules of Russian hockey(Bandy) ?
Glechik897 Bandy is on my list of videos to make, but it's going to be a while to get to that video because I have a lot more to make before that. Be sure to share this video and subscribe so that you can see all my videos as they come out! :)
Arena football got shut down 😭😭😭
They've been dying for years, it was high time that they folded.
Please do kabaddi. Such a fun sport to play with friends
Candross Kabaddi is on my long list of sports to make videos about, but it might be a while before I make that one. Lots of other videos to make before then! Thanks for commenting, be sure to share this video and subscribe if you haven't already :)
Could you do a college football video ?
I've done a video of American Football, which covers College football in general.
ruclips.net/video/Ddwp1HyEFRE/видео.html
Hope that helps?
Holy shit Ninh Ly! I just dropped my lunch!
I moved to America last year, and my wife (Emma Howard/Madden now) and I are going to watch the AZ Rattlers play this afternoon and I wanted to see how the rules varied to regular American Football. I didn't even realise until halfway through that this was you, albeit I did think it strange that guy narrating had an English accent!
Hope you're doing well mate - I can imagine you still rollerblading around Leyland!
Do the rules of wrestling (Greco Roman or freestyle or both)
I have scripts for those already, but haven't been able to make videos yet. Thanks.
Yes.
The tight end is actually one of the three linemen. When the offense breaks the huddle, one of the linemen will raise his hand which signals that he’s the tight end and therefore an eligible receiver. It’s very rare that a tight end catches a pass in the AFL though.
Okay then.
Is the ground made of turf or what? I've been trying to decide but can't tell
They lay some kind of artificial turf down over as rink floor, very similar to what they do for indoor lacrosse. Not comfortable to land on apparently.
Yes it’s not comfortable at all! I had two shoulder surgeries from landing on the turf wrong..I can say this out of all of my years playing outdoor ball, playing in the arena league was the most physically demanding jobs. I was a fullback and let me tell you shit got real in them trenches
West Texas Desert Hawks 💙❤️🤍
Good vid but left out what touch backs are and what the penaltys are
+Anthony Strickler Left out a lot of things man, there's no way that I can explain all the rules in less than 6 minutes. Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
A bit confused when you said the drop kicks for arena. You said a drop kicks is worth 2 points and a drop goal is worth 4. Do you mean if drop kicking on a 2 point conversion(after touchdown/try) is worth 2 points? If you're just drop kicking, let's say 2nd down, and wanting to to drop kick, that would be 4 points?
Yes, that's exactly it.
@@NinhLyUK ohhh okay thank you, thank you! Love your vids btw!!
Thanks Johnny!
Can you make a video about indoor soccer and roller derby?
+MrE903 Indoor soccer ... probably not. Roller Derby - yes if I get a huge demand for it. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to share this video and subscribe :)
+Ninh Ly i share and have been subbed for a while, love the videos!
+MrE903 Cool, thanks! Sorry if I've asked before, it's become a tag line for me!
