Possibly, our first goal is beautiful dancing, besides chestnut balls cater for the four main periods of Countrydancing : Arbeau and Playford- 18th century- Regency-traditional and modern. We cannot change costume four times so the dress code is Regency-Empire which is not accurate for The Merry Merry Milkmaids published in 1651 and certainly older than that. On top of that I have revisited the dance so it is not the John Playford version either. Thank you for watching
Yes indeed it is the Chestnut revised version of the John Playford dance edited in 1651. This version and a simpler one will be danced at the Chestnut period ball due June 9th. Thank you for watching
