I’m lucky enough to have had four great grandparents that fought and survived world war 2. I also being the eldest grandson/ great grandson had a great relationship with my great grandparents. Two of which met because my great great grandfather was the sergeant of my grandfather’s regiment. From what they told me, no one went to fight for anything other than their families and then, the man next to them. Most had absolutely no interest whatsoever in being there. A divesrion tactic from the real going ons in Ukraine. They are losing and the counter offensive has miserably failed. Russia on verge of victory and nearly captured all the territories they set out for. They not planning on going any further unless they are further antagonised then it will become nuclear. I’m lucky enough to have had four great grandparents that fought and survived world war 2. I also being the eldest grandson/ great grandson had a great relationship with my great grandparents. Two of which met because my great great grandfather was the sergeant of my grandfather’s regiment. From what they told me, no one went to fight for anything other than their families and then, the man next to them. Most had absolutely no interest whatsoever in being there. All they done was what they had to do to get home to their families

It's not this government. The issue has been going on for a long time, and it affects every country in the west in one form or another, including the migthy US. It's due to a generational shift in the way of thinking. We got used to believe (and young generations - millenials like me and z - more so) that life is about instagram and tiktok, and buying apple products. It's fcking not. Ukranians had to learn it already, and the message is going to hit home in the rest of Europe soon, quite likely.
It's not just that, when you punish civs for buying and training like the military no body wants to train anymore, airsoft and paintball require a license, you get arrested if you buy body armor and train with the mates
