Always did like this one. The soundtrack was sweet, and the aesthetic of the enemies and environments once you reached the hell levels was pretty awesome.
Outstanding soundtrack and audio quality! And the graphics look awesome most of the time. The plot is decent. Too bad it's not a well thought-out beat 'em up in terms of gameplay and action.
Reedemer fight is built around impossibly tight button presses and unbelievably high punishment for failure. I bet most players runs ended at the the reedemer fight.
36:51 For a SNES game, this level is the most creepiest with the background music and the fact that the entire stage is composed of flesh and bone, and stomach acid.
de niño recuerdo que cuando pase por primera vez este juego estaba solo en casa y al ver esa cara diabólica y escuchar ésas risas salí corriendo de la casa 😂😂
This was a fun game to play but, I was confused with the ending when the end credits started at 1:16:00 where I thought the whole point of this game was to rescue children but it felt weird that after completing the game I didn't win anything and/or be claimed as a hero. But all that happened was just getting captured as a prisoner as seen from 1:18:35-1:18:48.
Having played this myself, and watching various people play it, it's pretty easy to see WHY Tarosan mostly sticks to the same two or three attacks. It would've been neat to see them go in spells blazing, sure, but they eat through your power meter really fast and you barely ever get tokens to restore it. Likewise, they're so fickle to use. The way the game controls it can be difficult just to get it to use basic attacks sometimes. The game looks and sounds great, but it doesn't control particularly well. So really, it's amazing to see someone do so well at the game.
This game brings back memories. Glad I learned all the moves in Street Fighter II before I played Spawn. Spawn is my all time favorite comic book character.
I don't know why, but this game scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, it was the cause of many night terrors. I was even afraid to look at the cartridge.
3:55 this character "Overkill" was created after a collaboration between Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld and Stan Lee in an episode of Comic Book Greats, can anyone tell me where the t came from to make instead "Overtkill"?Awesome collaboration.
I believe it was considered a Marvel character name since it was created when Rob & Todd were working at Marvel. I believe the “T” was added to Overkill’s name to avoid potential copyright issues.
That downwards-flying-spinning-double-kick (lol, sorry for my english) looks very very similar to the Skate's one from Streets of Rage 2.( "Oh-hee-hee")
Just beat this game, had to use my game genie so I could spam special moves in the final three levels to get it over with and make it more fun. Definitely would not replay it again but my younger self thanks me for finally enduring this til the end lol
Well reason I Dhalism my way through this game was because the special moves in this game were impossible to press but I was patient enough to win and the kicks were broken. Tarosan
Tarosan/heavybass I completely understand lol, just wanted to thank you for uploading this. Hitting me hard with nostalgia. As a kid I could never beat this damn game !!
Old comment but just in case you're still wondering today, it was believed that Malebolgia had lifted Spawn's limited necro powers (the counter thing). In some way stating he was going to keep Al a little longer than planned.
Todd has been promising a new Spawn movie for longer than I care to think about. I'm in the camp now of I'll believe it when I see it :-). I know that there has been some recent talk of it with Jamie Foxx saying that he wanted to play the part. Only time will tell
Yeah it would. It might also be a good way to introduce the character to a new generation of fans who were not around during his 90's heyday. I never played in The Demon's Hand but I heard that it was good. I also can't figure out why no one ever tried their hand at a Crow game. That series lends itself to a solid video gaming experience especially if you could play through the different comic series as the different Crows in their own settings. Just my 2 cents
This has to be one of the most tedious un-fun games I have ever played, I tried to persevere since I'm such a big fan but when I got to the dudes with the flaming swords and shield the game became abysmal haha, What a horrible ending too, wowzers. Thanks for beating it so I never have to.
This is just a guess, but I think the gift to Spawn was his powers regenerated back to 9999, because once that hits zero, he dies for good. Ironically, Spawn wants to die, so its kind of a sense of torture for him to be far from death again.

Used to play this a lot when I was younger. I think it's an underrated gem, but not without its flaws. The good: atmosphere, music, graphics, and hell the story itself is pretty engaging for a snes game. Very creative in some parts. The organic level in hell, the upside-down mural boss fight, and the fight against the Mad One/Malebogia stand out in particular. The bad: gameplay is clunky and repetitive, controls are awkward. Some sections stretch on for too long. After all these years I still don't get the ending. Is it Malebogia turning him into a game or what?
1 year later but no. Canonical, Al Simmons AKA Spawn wants to die, but he can't so long as he has all that power. And he can only die once that power is depleted. Malebolgia *RECHARGED* him back to max power... forcing him to go through even more torment.
As a kid I lost patience with the boss at 1:00:50. I thought the game was broken and I had to use Spawn's abilities to defeat him, but I didn't know them all at the time. It's funny how you just had to persist and he would finally take noticeable damage. I wish I hadn't given up so early back then.
Curious? Why don't you Spawn special necroplasm powers?? did you know he had special moves or just chose to save them up?? I believe the video would have been a bit more interesting had you used his powers...He gets them back in the end anyways
I wonder if this game scared some kids that didn't know anything about Spawn for those kids whose parents purchased a random video game for their kid after branching out from Mario and Disney.
In the Demon's Hand was great. I played it at Arcades back in the day, I used to play as spawn most of the time. I also played Armageddon on PS2, which was like DMC and GoW, which I think was fun. The scenery in this game sure feels random. First streets, then an "asylum" that looks like something you'd expect from a Terminator game, then hell, then a cathedral, then what looks like the inside of Satan's anus, then a pyramid/tower with reverse gravity?
Spawn gets humiliated by Malebolgia by having his powers restored to maximum, thus ensuring that he stays a hellspawn for eternity. Keep in mind that this game was released way before the really important stuff started happening in the comics.
Apparently, Spawn wants to die. If the 9:9:9:9 counter reaches to 0, he dies for real and free from Malebolgia. But, he gave him a gift that will reset his power to 9:9:9:9 thus he will be Maleboglia's pet for eternity.
I didn't know that Daredevil had a game, is it any good? I ask because I've never heard anyone talk about it. I mention all of these because I would like to see them done Arkham style by Rocksteady who did bang up jobs on the newer Batman games. The Crow would would be a awesome experience.
Spawn really needs a current gen game.
Something in the vein of Arkham Asylum.
What about like a Platinum game with crazy uber magic attacks like from Bayonetta or dmc?
