    A move to the Big 12 for Colorado would be a great move. If the conference works out as you explained in this video, it would be consistently rival the big 10 and SEC. This is all fascinating to watch unfold. Thanks Chris for your content and knowledge you drop for us.

    I think all 4 schools will be playing in the Big 12 next year. Wouldn't be surprised if Oregon and Washington inquire about joining also if the Big 10 doesn't snatch them. Definitely would be a super conference- and not to mention the recruiting opportunities across the nation. The ACC is also in trouble as there's talk of Florida state and Clemson not being satisfied with their payouts and looking to move. I know there was talk of the Pac 12 and the ACC of joining together, but haven't heard anything lately. In the end, I think the move to the Big 12 is imminent.

    I think the powers that be in the PAC-12 are very conservative. But if anyone is considering moving CU to another conference, I’d look at the Big 12. Initially, I thought the Big 10 would be more beneficial but after giving it some thought, I think the Big 12 will give CU the greater return on their investment across the board. My only concern would be the new 12 team playoff format, specifically will there be enough bowl games available.

    • @alpinegaragesports2155
      @alpinegaragesports2155  Год назад +1

      I don’t think it will be an issue with playoffs. If the P12 loses these 4 teams, and Oregon/wash, they will likely not have a championship game for the conf that counts for a bowl bid.

    • @shallojalloh
      @shallojalloh Год назад

      @Nefateri...please elaborate. Im trying to follow your logic. Not saying I agree or disagree. What benefits woudl the B12 give us.
      The annual money on the sports side is about the same as the PAC. The B10 will triple that by 2026.
      On the academic side....we get more research money with the PAC, and its not even close.
      From an alumni perspective, going to Lubbuck, Ames, Waco, Morgantown, WV or Orlando would be a NON-STARTER for most of our fans. We must rather prefer Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, San Fran.

    I remember rival fan bases say “no take backs” when CU exited the Big 12. The Big 8 was memorable because of tilts with OU and Neb. The highlights of CU in the Big12 was 62-36 followed by a championship against the longhorns. Historically, not very many CU fans show up for road games in Lubbock, Stillwater, Manhattan, Ames, Waco. “I’m going to Cincinnati to hang out with the local Buffs alumni chapter” said no one, ever. Who exactly is CU’s hottest rival in the B12? Maybe Yormark could sweeten the pot by adding CSU. At least that game could fill up Mile High. If the Big 12 championship is held in Dallas with CU versus Iowa State, would the stadium sell out? Face it. This is about TV money. It’s basically a booty call date with ex. It’s licking Yormark’s lollipop and jumping in his van.
    If the B10 were an option, historical rivalries include arch-nemesis Nebraska, alumni friendly USC & UCLA, plus a AAU flagships that includes alumni hotspots from Chicago to DC.
    If the SEC were an option, historical rivalries include OU with whom Colorado actually shares a border, Texas, A&M, and 5th down buddy Mizzou.
    If the CU regent meeting was about jumping conferences, I’d imagine a key provision of the terms and conditions includes how easily CU could jump out of the B12’s bed and into the arms of a conference made out of flagships.
    “If you can’t love the one you want, baby, love the one you’re with”. - Steven Stills
    Those chats with KU and Baylor fans will be so awkward.
    If the Pac12 could hold itself together for the next 3 years, it gives Coach Prime the most direct path to a conference championship and a Playoffs spot, plus access to CU fan’s favorite road trip to the Bay Area.

    • @alpinegaragesports2155
      @alpinegaragesports2155  Год назад

      Very well said DCB. I don’t know if I stated old rivalries or new ones. I meant new ones. I like your take, but let’s say we take Stills up on his words and stay. The other 3 schools leave and so do Oregon and Washington either to B10 or in place of CU in Big 12? Now where are the rivalries? San Diego State? We get left with a terrible conference, and little money. Prime would be like…yep I got my Pac 6 Championship and now on to greener pastures in a major Conf. And I am sure the ncaa would not allow the champion from a conference like that to get an auto bid into playoff. I like this debate! So many pieces in place it’s almost impossible to determine the outcome.

    Great stuff as usual, Chris! I see the same potential you see with the new commissioner of the Big 12 and CU! Brett Yormark, who I don’t know much about except from what you said about him, if he, indeed, thinks like Coach Prime, he’s going to pump up CU like it IS the Big 12, and not just a school in it. Idk if Coach Prime has met with him yet, but if he ever does…game over! 🤯 Once the Buffs start to SHOW they’re winners AND put on a SHOW while doing it (which Prime will see to it that they do), CU will have more attention than ever before. Let's go to BIG12 and get this over with. I have had it with the PAC12. They have always treated CU and the other non-west coast schools poorly. The PAC12 has always viewed itself as the California Conference. PAC12 has been poorly managed, mostly by Larry Scott. CU has always been a true BIG8 & BIG12 school. We were never a California school. Yes, CU does have a lot of California kids that go to CU and yes, there are a ton of alums in Cali, but we are not a California school. Denver and CU is in mountain/prairie. Look at the border states. The new question that comes up is who is our new BIG12 rival? Who is our ThxsGiving game? Utah has BYU. OSU maybe? Who would be our in conference rival?

The P12 is being picked of it’s good schools and what will likely be left is sub grade schools and us. Is there anyone stating that the P12 is going to be a dominant conf in 2025? This could happen - O and W go to B10, AZ, ASU, and UT go to B12. We still have OSU, WSU, STFD, CAL. Then we add some non-discript schools. That is better than B12? I just love to debate. I wish we could have kept our conference the way it was, but change is inevitable. Thank you for your great comments.

    I couldn't disagree more, we always stuck out in the Big 12, we don't think like those schools, never have never will. We are not a Bible Belt, or a rust belt school. The only reason I would ever want to head to the Big 8/12, would be to play OU and Nebraska again, but of course they are both gone. The big 12 has lost every good team they had over the years, and replaced them with Cincinnati, Houston, UCF and BYU! We don't need them, they need us. Every time a conference in the Big 5 signs a new TV contract, it's the new biggest one. If we were smart we would wait until the end of the season and add two new teams and sign a new TV contract, but everyone seems to be in panic mode right now.. The entire nation is going to be watching Prime and CU this fall, and that would give us a huge advantage getting a bigger TV contract. Going to a conference with so many teams is not going to work to our advantage.

      Hi Dee😂, how are you? I have a couple of questions regarding your comments. I am in VA and have been following the realignment drama since OU and TX departed for the SEC, and then USC and UCLA to the BIG-10. Name it and I have read it or listened to it. Did you attend CU and graduate from there? Now, can you tell me HOW Colorado "stuck out" in the BIG-12? When you say you "don't think like those schools" what does that mean, specifically? How exactly does the BIG-12 need Colorado? When you say the PAC should wait until "the end of the season" do you mean this coming football season which would be December 2023? Which 2 new teams would you add to replace USC and UCLA and why those two? Who exactly is in panic mode? Why do you think the "entire nation" is going to be watching Prime and CU this fall"? Why would having Prime give CU a "huge advantage" with obtaining a bigger TV contract? When you say "so many teams", how many teams is too many and why? 🦬

    • @deerobinson557
      @deerobinson557 Год назад +1

      @@VorlonAngel Well I thought you were going to be civil at first, then I noticed your emoji. That is a lot to answer but I'll try. Colorado is in the west not the midwest, which is very different in many ways. All the schools in the PAC 12 have very high standards just to get into one of those schools, outside of the Ivy league, it's the toughest. Oh and by the way I did not graduate from CU, but I did graduate from the U of Colorado at Denver, which is a part of CU, and had a few classes on the Boulder campus. Also all of the PAC 12 schools are research schools, which means they receive a lot of money that most universities don't receive. When the Big 8 became the Big 12 most of the schools stopped selling beer at their games at the request of the new schools from Texas, in particular Baylor and Texas A&M. A Christian School and a military school. But Colorado having more micro breweries than any other state at the time refused. So those schools talked the Big 12 into making it illegal to sell beer at their games. Which later when the conference and schools realized how much money they were losing, they made it legal again. So much for moral standards. The so called bible states ironically, are far more racist and judgmental than states in the West which are much more open minded. The Big 12 needs some actually good teams after losing their two best teams Oklahoma and Texas, who were in such a hurry to leave that they paid the Big 12 a 100 million to leave one year early. Since the Big 12 started they have lost the six best teams when those teams left. When you leave a conference it's harder on the new team because you are trying to understand the strength and weaknesses of all those new teams, and that conference is only having to learn one new team. Just ask Nebraska, who when they left for the Big 10, had the best record of any team in the nation in the last 40 years. The only team who had more championships during that forty years was Oklahoma. CU's football problems began in the mid 2000's, when the football team was accused of a gang rape while bringing in recruits for a visit. CU voluntarily places themself with the strictest penalties ever imposed by any team, except for when the NCAA shut completely down the program at SMU for years. CU had kept those strict recruiting policies until this year when they changed them at the request of Coach Prime. Pac 12 football is much better than most of the country realizes, especially everyone east of the Mississippi River, probably because by the time our games are over, half the country is already in bed. The Pac 12 has won more championships total in all sports, that ALL other conferences combined, look it up. People back east always seem to think USC and UCLA are the best teams in the Pac 12, but in the last 14 years USC has won one Pac 12 football championship and UCLA has won none. In basketball USC and UCLA in that same period have won one apiece. We did not lose the best or even the second, third or even fourth best teams in the Pac 12. Colorado is on their way back, and Washington, Oregon and Utah are better than any team that will be in the Big 12 next year.
