    Cruised on the Zuiderdam last year to Alaska. .Holland America are just about perfect for me. Classic lines, traditional cruise itineraries, great food, enrichment lectures and so it goes on. Hope to cruise with them again.

    I just came back from a cruise last month on the Noordam around New Zealand and Australia. I wish I had viewed this video before the cruise. In fact, I think it would be a good idea to put it on the list of inhouse videos that guests can watch in their rooms to orientate them. . It was my first cruise. Some of these places I didnt know about. I discovered the Rolling Stones lounge 12 days into my 15 days cruise - and it was a great place with dancing and a live band performing songs from the 70s and 80s which was wonderful. The world stage was indeed impressive, but the performances in my experience were underwhelming - a Chinese woman playing the accordion for an hour, on another night there was a woman giving a talk about the history of playing cards which was pretty lightweight. I do remember the show about the environment with an orchestra playing to wildlife images and that was very good if your into that sort of thing, The staff were absolutely top notch - a bit too perfect. The food was extremely good. All the guests on board were lovely and from a well to do background - mainly rich American retirees. I yearned for a bit of luxury at the spa, and ended up treating myself, but didnt expect to be paying $200 for the cheapest facial - including the beauty product I was pushed into buying that I didnt want and have never used. But like all the staff, the beauty therapist was very good. Everyone who worked there was VERY good at their job. I thought it would cost an arm and a leg visiting the doctor. it didnt. When my partner came down with covid, I was offered a small separate cabin free of charge - and hence I never go covid. Although my partner had to isolate in his room, he was well looked after and recovered well with anti-virals and was given free credit equaling the days he spent in isolation for his next cruise. I thought this was generous since it was not the cruise line's fault that he got covid.

      It’s very true that with every cruise you take, you get more and more experienced. Watching a video like this one in advance and reading reviews or the forums on a cruise website like cruise critic it also very helpful. The more often that you take a cruise vacation you will get even more out of it.

    Full promenade decks are a must! Sailing to Hawaii on the Koningsdam for 17 days and that was a major deciding factor. Never sailed on HAL before and wondered if the older ships would be appealing, but after watching this video I would definitely consider one. Your videos are the best on the internet!!! Thank you!!

    I like how the Noordams past were acknowledged. HAL reuses classic ship names a lot and it’s always nice to see their predecessors. After visiting Queen Elizabeth back in 2019, I’ve come to find that just because Vista Class has been mass produced doesn’t mean they are all the same. And the Noordam looks like a beautiful example of Vista done right. Case in point - oh, how we miss promenades. To be WRAP-AROUND is just the cherry.
    And such a mind-massaging video.

    We've only sailed Nieuw Amsterdam, three times. I cancelled Volendam due to the price (above OV), maintenance reviews. and lack of a music stage. With a Rolling Stones Lounge, I think we'll be fine with Vista Class! We're on Koningsdam next, but nice to know we're not just limited to Signature and Pinnacle Class.

    Couldn’t agree more that the wrap around deck is a must, we missed it more than we thought we would on our last couple cruises. We have sailed with HAL one time and found it a good deal. This was years ago when they still had the dreadful "parade of the baked alaskas" and nothing, but songs from the '60s and 70 were also dreadful." I like this video so much. Did you find the service to be very good? We dare 74 and 78 so we like a calm cruise. This ship looks like a good fit for us. How is room service and is the coffee good and strong. We do not drink spirits. Are coffee and tea and colas free? You got us on Silverseas via your excellent video. We sail primarily on Seabourn and Silversea. We are looking for a change. This may be it.

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  Год назад +1

      The service was excellent, some of there best we’ve ever had. And we very much liked the food too. The coffee from the explorer cafe was very good and the buffet coffee wasn’t bad (though it’s never as good as the extra cost coffee!). As in most larger ships there are included drinks available from the buffet and around the pool but we would suggest getting the soft drinks package which is very good value for money. We don’t identify use room service but on the odd occasion we used it before an early excursion we found it to be very good and punctual. There are things about both which are very good and some things which could be better (as with all lines). The board needs to be set up with white square in each players bottom right hand corner. Otherwise, as in this case, the queen and king sit on the wrong squares for the start of this game. If people could incorporate this type of colour and richness into their homes today, maybe modern, interior, design would finely, have it going on, rather than being the drab, dreary, dead and boring, tasteless, empty, shells most are today. You have to spend time on a cruise ship in order to experience and enjoy beautiful and tasteful decor now, as you see it almost, nowhere else, these days. I'm impressed, I must say.
    Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼

      @@visitwithus : I've never been on a cruise ship myself, but I have to say that if most are decorated the way this one is, then it seems to me they are excellent, examples of how we should be going about designing the interior of our homes today. This ship is infinitely, more warm and cozy, charming and inviting as almost, any homes out there today. I love and miss terribly, the look and styles of the 60s, 70s and 80s, even the 40s and 50s too, though I was not around then. And it's not so much that I'm saying we need to reintroduce absolutely, every aspect of the styles and designs of these decades, though that would not be so bad either; it's merely, that I'm saying we need to reintroduce the richness, character and charm, styles and designs had in these decades. The richness of textures and colours and so forth. I'm so, beyond tired of all this endless, drab, dreary and boring, all white and open concept nonsense that has gone mainstream for well over 20 odd, years now. It's made even, worse when you realize everything must be as MINIMALISTIC, as conceivably, possible; and you come to realize that modern, interior, design has devolved terribly and taken a huge, huge, nose dive into the gutter, over the past two, plus, decades now. For those of us who are forced to rent; it has become a complete, nightmare, because seeing as this is now, mainstream, most owners who rent, design their places this way, and the renter has no choice in the matter, whether they like this crap or not, and this is terribly, unfair. Twenty, plus, years now guys. What is new or innovative about this look any longer? Nothing, of course, as much as there ever was when it started. It's really, very, high time we moved past this now, big time.
      Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼

      @@david_mysterium2317 I’ve only been on about 5 cruises, all on different cruise lines. But, I’ve been on a lot of vacations all around the world, and cruising is a unique experience. You visit many different locations and never have to change hotels, or ride a plane, a train, bus or car. Plus, the food is generally very good, the entertainment is worthwhile, and it’s just a lot of fun. Seeing the coastline from sea is also unique. We going on a Holland American ship, for the second time next week, and we are really looking forward to it. Cruise ships are always a pretty good value not matter what class of stateroom you select. But, I recommend one with a balcony at a minimum, and better if your budget permits.

    Nice ship, but honestly the first two ships of that name looked more attractive to me. But then again, I'm hopelessly old fashioned. Here is a video of the Noordam II ruclips.net/video/IybduLKufKk/видео.html . and here is a video of the SS Rijndam of 1901 which along with the SS Potsdam were identical sisterships to the first Noordam of 1902. ruclips.net/video/L1ZWjC53HVk/видео.html
