Your videos help all of us going through that beautiful journey of language learning, please never stop.
ahh woke up today and was so happy to see you back!! i 100% don't think your videos are silly - it's true that there are tons of creators but each person that i watch inspires me in a different way, and that really helps me to keep going when i don't feel like it. looking forward to see more videos from you (if you feel like making them!) & happy new year!!
Yesterdsy I was thinking: "will she ever come back? I miss her. She has her own place in my language learning journey". And here you are! Happy you are back. 🎉 I'm from Poland and I am focusing on Korean, French and English in 2025. There are other languages I used to learn as well, however I almost forgot them. You are inspiring me. You also have a very comforting voice. Thank you for showing up :-)
So glad you decided to make a video to end the year! I agree that it can be frustrating to learn a language when there is such a lack of resources. Congrats on all that you have done in 2024!
I'm really happy to see this video! I've been thinking about your channel lately and missing your videos, so it was such a nice surprise to see this show up in my subscriptions feed.
OH MY GOSH literally two seconds in, and I just have to comment! You are one of my fave language youtubers ever (I only follow like 3) and I've been checking your channel regularly the past few months to see if you uploaded anything, and rewatching your vids if I need some inspiration. 😭🧡 This makes me so, so happy! Thank you so much 🥰
Finally watched the video! I loved the way you inserted your personal learnings/insights at the end of each language wrap up! It was very helpful and it made me reflect a lot about my own way of learning. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in such an honest and realistic way! 😊
Thanks for coming back ❤ I check your channel regularly for new content, and I wasn't sure you would ever upload again. You help me feel like part of a global language learning community, even though our target languages don't overlap :) I credit so much of the progress I have made to that sense of community and these very personal comments and recommendations on the learning process E se vuoi mai fare una chiacchierata in italiano, fammi pure sapere - è la mia lingua madre, ma sono molti anni che vivo all'estero e non ho molte opportunità di parlare! 😂
I am so happy to see you again! I think taking a break is so healthy and valid though. This era has been a hard one to live and watch, I think boundaries are the only thing keeping us sane. I will be so happy with anything you do put out though! 😊 Hope you and your family is doing well! I am about to start actually getting serious about learning this year rather than obsessing about the process. I am (hopefully a former) person who came from studytube studygram during hs and found languages. I have always had a goal to learn more, but until recently was more into the “study” portion of it. But no more. I want to be a multilingual person 🫡
This is such a coincidence I re-watched your Italian resources video this week because I had stopped learning earlier this year, and for some reason got inspired to start again (7-day streak on Clozemaster to be hopefully continued). I guess it's hard to articulate why I want to watch certain youtube creators, some peoples' content just appeals, has good vibes, don't know - but clearly there's plenty of us who are happy to watch your videos, at whatever upload schedule you choose. I hope the puppy is doing well now 🙂
First of all, welcome back! I recently watched several videos of you to help with ideas and resources for learning Italian and Japanese. I don't know why, but I wanted to see whether there is content about learning to play the guitar in Italian (yes, there is 😊), and it really helped me learn new words, especially connecting two important things in my life. I also started listening to more music in both languages, thanks to the Radio Garden (?) site you recommended in the past. I wanted to tell you your videos have ALWAYS been helpful. I hope your dog is feeling better, too. Thank you, and please take your time.
Yes, connecting a language with another hobby is one of the best ways to learn, imo! Thank you for the kind words. The doggo is doing well, we just couldn't get her to be still after a spay surgery which led to some minor complications
I really hope next year you'll share some videos with us, because this video has taught me so much about myself and my own language learning journey. Wishing you a happy New Year soon! 🎉
So glad to see you back! You’re the most comfort person I know out here. And you’ve helped me sooo much with my anxiety back in 2022 and since then. Wish all the best to you and your family and really hope to see more from you next year 🥺💞
Your videos are a huge source of comfort and motivation for me. So happy to see you back and hope you’re doing well! I feel like I had similar learnings this year - I am also someone who finds a new resource and feels compelled to complete the whole thing but gets sick of it at some point. But I also realized this year that I do sometimes go back to these resources and they help me in different ways depending what my level is when I go back (so the possibility of returning makes me feel less guilty 😅) I am also having similar struggles with French - I’ve got to a pretty high reading level but I feel like I am relying a lot on knowledge of English with comprehension and there is definitely a wide gap with my production skills that I want to focus on next year. And I might try the 100 day reading challenge - I love this!
You know, when it comes to the comprehension vs. production problem, I always try to remind myself that although my active skills are not where I want them to be, working on them (even if I have to go back to the very basics) will still be much easier than starting a language from scratch. And yeah, the 100 day challenge has become something I look forward to every year now - I think it's a good amount of time to go at something with a little more intensity than I normally would without burning out. And seeing the progress is so satisfying!
Omg Tanya you're back! I just wanted to say that I've missed your video so much. I can always see that you put effort into it! Anyways, glad to see you back. I've learnt so much from you 💞
Aw lovely to have you back. I’m in the same boat with Dutch as you are with Italian. Comprehension is great (due to knowing English and German) but my speaking/writing is at a beginner stage. I’m not too worried though. At the end of the day it’s all just for fun :) Thank you for sharing your journey!
Loved this video and so glad to see an update from you - I totally understand needing time off but if you’re up to it would definitely love to see more from you. Also would love to hear more how you’ve found Babbel Live - I have turned into an avid Babbel Live fan girl this year since getting the unlimited group and private plan on an introductory discount for an annual subscription. It was a big expense up front so I had to pause my Arabic italki classes sadly, but I have found Babbel brilliant for the languages they do have. I did the entire B2 and C1 French course not long after doing the B2 Lingoda sprint, and in the lead up to my DALF C1 exam. I Barely did any other study so surprised to have passed but I got 25/25 for the speaking which I think is a testament to the classes and just the ability to book a class every day at the same time to get me into a good morning routine. I’m now just about to finish Spanish A1.2 having started from zero and it’s been brilliant. I wish they had more non Euro languages like Arabic or Mandarin but as far as the platform and teachers go I can’t believe the value. Only thing I’d flag is it’s not quite “unlimited” for private classes as you can only book 12 at a time which is a pain if you have preferred teachers who book up fast but I would still recommend it anyway. I was very close to starting Italian on it but might have to try that after!
Wow, congrats on your DALF results! And thank you for sharing your Babbel Live experience. I recently renewed my subscription for another six months, and this time I’m thinking of taking German classes in addition to Italian. I’m curious how you found starting a language from scratch there. Asking because when I took A1 Italian classes, most people (myself included) seemed a bit above true A1 level, so the idea of beginning German from zero feels a bit stressful 😅
following this discussion as well! i have never learned a european language, but i'm interested in starting one next year and seeing people sharing their babbel live experience honestly makes me want to start joining those classes asap (which i won't do, because i don't think it'll be that effective until i reach early A2, unfortunately). congrats on your DALF results as well!!
Ciao Tanya!
I enjoy your videos - thank you for sharing your language journey :) If you ever decide to revisit Greek, I recommend the "Greek for you" series. I remember really enjoying the texts and appreciating how the texts had matching native audio, something it's usually really difficult to find for Greek; reading is my favourite language learning activity. Good luck with your continuing language adventures!
I was actually using Greek for You myself! Love the series (and will use it again if I ever decide to go back), but my main grievance with Greek is the lack of beginner-friendly comprehensible input resources like graded readers, podcasts, YT videos, etc.
I am so glad to see this video! But in the same breath, please take the time you need. I really understand what you said about it taking one article or post to make you re-evaluate posting right now, its really difficult. It is nice to see you here again
Oh my God! So happy to see a video of you! I did not watch this new one yet but I always have loved your videos and your content. I often cannot relate to language learners on RUclips but your approach has always been different - in a positive way! - and always brought me great new perspectives. I missed it very much! 🎉 I will watch it later when I have some time and enjoy it fully. Cannot wait ❤
I found your channel when you stopped updating, I binged everything haha. I definetly experienced your Greek issue with Basque, it is a difficult language, and meanwhile languages like Chinese and Japanese have many interesting resources but with Basque I only started actually learning it after joining irl classes.
Ooh, Basque was tempting before I started Greek and realized how tough it can be with limited resources. I’m glad it ended up working out for you, though!
By the way, this year hasn’t been great for my language learning. I’ve fallen off the bandwagon, and I don’t know how to get back on track, since my motivation for learning languages has been quite low due to my priorities lying elsewhere over the past several months.
@@bzylarisa Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! On the other hand, if it's not a priority right now, maybe it's better to take an "official" break and let yourself enjoy other things guilt-free?
@@tbenavente yes, that's what I'm doing because forcing myself wouldn’t be effective, and I don’t want to turn my learning into a chore that I "have" to do. That said, I do try to do something small every day. Hope my motivation comes back in 2025. Happy New Year!
I feel you about questioning everything, I think for me what helps is thinking about the importance of having a sense of normalcy in your life. One way war wrecks people is by taking that away so I feel like it's a balance of maintaining some level of that in your life, to stay sane. I think I watched a video once about the stress and trauma of war even for those not directly involved, or something like that, and it talked about that
I totally get what you mean about maintaining a sense of normalcy. I guess my struggle sometimes is just questioning whether I even deserve to have it when so many people are suffering
@@tbenaventeYeah I get that, I struggle with that too. Also if you feel helpless, suffering in some way can be an outlet for that, or an outlet for guilt etc. I try to force myself to maintain it on some level, despite that. It seems selfish but it's like, you make sure you have an oxygen mask on first before turning to others, even if those others are your kids and you're responsible for them. We can use that normalcy to our advantage, to help people better, to be more capable, either now or when/if it all ends, even if just because the world needs people who know what normal is like. I just try to not be too black and white about it, not for too long at least, and try to reasses my motivations or values when it comes to doing whatever I think isn't important anymore. Maybe find ways to reframe it, make it more aligned with what I care about. Motivations and priorities can shift of course. But also I get you completely, I've dropped all my hobbies a few times because it didn't seem to matter anymore compared to the things going on in the world, it can be hard to balance that

I rarely comment on youtube videos but for some reason I feel the urge to whenever I watch one of yours. You always have such an interesting perspective on language learning so I was so glad to see you posted again after a long time, I missed this cozy and reflective feeling haha welcome back 🥺 as for languages, I have been learning korean for a few years and in the past couple of months I kinda detached from textbooks because I got bored and started watching videos by korean creators instead... you don't know how much I screamed when you showed didi's podcast channel, which is exactly the one I have been watching 😂 I have always thought we have a similar approach to language learning but I never thought it was to the extent of liking the same channel among the thousands out there haha it was crazy. Anyways, my long term goal for this language is to be able to read books and watch content just as you, but I fear I'm not ready to read actual books yet. I was thinking of maybe starting with webtoons? Though I'm not as interested, but it could be easier and less discouraging... we'll see where 2025 brings me! Also I don't know whether you will actually read this comment and if so whether you get this far but as an Italian I want to say being able to read all those books isn't easy, congratulations! You have worked really hard, and please don't give up on picking up grammar. I know how hard and frustrating my language can be, there are many exceptions that make it all a nightmare sometimes but I believe being able to communicate with natives will be worth it in the end. Personally I am so moved whenever I see someone making an effort to speak Italian and being interested enough to do so! Keep up the good work
Haha, yes, Didi is a legend! By the way, since you are learning Korean, can I recommend a channel of a fellow Korean learner? Her username here is @caddberrie and although not all of her videos are about learning Korean, the ones that are are literally gems (also, it will be really funny if you already know her)! As far as reading goes, I'm also not a big fan of webtoons, so I lean towards blog posts on Naver and articles from this online magazine: www.kolonmall.com/OLOMagazine. And yes, continuing to work on my Italian is one of my main language goals for 2025!
@ aw thank you so much for these suggestions, I’ll make sure to check them out asap! I clicked on caddberrie’s channel out of curiosity and I see she has cute hobbies as well so I’m sure I’ll like her 🥺 also for some reason I never thought of looking for articles to read online but it’s actually a very good idea. Thank you again and best wishes for your 2025 ❤️
Lektor wyraźnie i bez zmieniania intonacji głosu mówi wszystkie dialogi z filmu jednak jednocześnie słychać wesję oryginalną (zazwyczaj angielską) w tle. Mam nadzieję że byłam w stanie pomóc ❤
I was so glad that I could watch you. I was little bit worried, why didn't you post a new movie. I love to listen to you. I am still learning Spanish and I add an Italian. To be honest Spanish is better for me than Italian but Italian is also close to my heart 😊 Can't wait for another film!
hi tanya! your commitment to reading is really awesome to see :) usually i worry that i pick up the wrong pronunciation from just reading-so what are your thoughts on audio books vs physical copies?
I'm literally feeling the same, like the world seems toi continue when on the other side of the world people are dying in Palestine, Lebanon etc. When you can't do anything but sitting and watching that from your life. Like sometimes I don't talk anyone because they don't seem to care about others humans
Ojalá decidas continuar 😊 Me encantaría saber cómo te va aprendiendo griego, yo he empezado este año
i'm taking beginner greek classes at my university this semester and i really want to do more outside of class but the resources are so sparse! it's also a reason why i have really neglected my turkish study, i just don't know where to go!
I’ve been waiting for you to post a new video, and I’m so happy you’re back! It’s great to hear your language updates for this year. Even though you weren’t posting videos, I knew you were making so much progress with your language learning. You’ve continued to inspire me, even during your time away from RUclips. I’ve also been away from my channel for about five months. I actually made good progress with my studies during that break, but I’m still trying to figure out how to balance language learning and content creation. Right now, I’m learning Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. (๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑) Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2025! ଘ(੭ˊ꒳ˋ)੭✧
Thank you 💜 I’m so glad to hear you’ve been making progress with your languages! Balancing language learning, content creation, hobbies and responsibilities is definitely a challenge, but here’s to figuring it out in 2025 🙃 Happy New Year!
You can get great language audio input here on youtube with bilingual stories, they will read a sentence of a story in English then read the same sentence in target language. Polyglot Beats on youtube does that well for multiple languages and there other channels for specific languages... its been helping me get passive listening and learning when going on walks... time is by FAR hardest obstacle in language learning - anything that can get us some passive learning is a plus 😊
Ahhhhh I’m so happy to see you!! I totally sympathize with the feelings behind dropping off the radar, even though I’ve done exactly the opposite and endlessly yap as a coping mechanism 😅 I know we talked about it already but 100% agreed on the fully input-based learning, I am definitely not going to be moving forward with German or Portuguese or any other language that way, it is just tooooo stressful when it comes to outputting. Loved to hear these updates! ♥️♥️
Haha, well, I might not be on RUclips as a content creator, but MY coping mechanism is definitely watching you and other people yap about languages 😅 Also, I'm super curious to see how your German journey unfolds!
@tbenavente It would be just great, if you would have a GoodReads account, so we can see which books you read / heard and give us an idea what to read in the different languages.
@tbenavente oh yeah, this happens every day. Poor 'tens of thousands people being killed'. That's the reason why there are still ppl living. People die. Yeah, that's life, man. Is was ever like that and will ever be. Live with it. How naive are you?
What did you ACTUALLY study and progress with ? You seem to start, get interested and excited about, devote some time to, then drop and maybe later pick it up again. It seems you just study some parts of a language and totally neglecting other parts like reading c2 level- speaking a2 level. No offense to you but your language learning seems utterly confusing and not very productive. Perhaps if you would focus on 2 languages for 2 years you should be at a B2 level within 2 years And then you can add 1 more. Would that not be a more efficient learning plan ?
First things first, yes, that would definitely be a more efficient approach. I do regret taking on quite a few beginner languages at the same time, hence dropping Greek and Japanese, which I mention in the video. That being said, I do want to push back on some of your ideas: First, the idea of everything needing to be optimized/productive/efficient. The way I do things might be not the most productive, but at the end of the day, it's just a hobby and the goal is to have fun, not to pass an exam, prove my language skills on the internet, learn as fast as I can, etc. I'm also not a language guru, just a regular language learner who happens to have some filming and editing skills, and I'm figuring things out as I go. The main idea behind this channel is to show another perspective (which includes mistakes, struggles, regrets, etc.), not to show "how things should be done". If people watch my channel, think "what a mess" and decide to do the opposite of what I'm doing, great! If someone watches and thinks "I finally found someone relatable", also great. Second, the idea of having to learn all "parts" of the language. Despite what I said in the video about my Italian speaking skills (which I do happen to want to improve), I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to just focus on a certain skill. This comment is already too long, but I have a whole video about how, in my opinion, speaking doesn't have to be the only (or the main) goal/measure of progress, in case you might interested: ruclips.net/video/bKkRO9MyF2Y/видео.html
@tbenavente thank you for your explanation. I totally get it now that your probably exploring different languages, different parts of a language and that your journey is to have fun and not to have pressure to be fluent in a couple of years. I assumed this to be a language learning tutorial type video. My mistake. Continue to have fun and I hope you find lots of satisfaction in your language learning journey. And you'r right: you learn whichever part works for you and what brings you joy
Your videos are not silly at all, they're helping us thinking about something else. Don't stop plssss

I’m not too worried though. At the end of the day it’s all just for fun :)
Thank you for sharing your journey!
Asking because when I took A1 Italian classes, most people (myself included) seemed a bit above true A1 level, so the idea of beginning German from zero feels a bit stressful 😅
following this discussion as well! i have never learned a european language, but i'm interested in starting one next year and seeing people sharing their babbel live experience honestly makes me want to start joining those classes asap (which i won't do, because i don't think it'll be that effective until i reach early A2, unfortunately). congrats on your DALF results as well!!
welcome back! happy to see you again :)
Ciao Tanya!
I'm so happy that you are back! :)
so happy you're back! ❤❤❤ love your content
You’re back!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYYY
I enjoy your videos - thank you for sharing your language journey :)
If you ever decide to revisit Greek, I recommend the "Greek for you" series.
It's an amazing surprise to see you back on here!
Lovely to see you back on 🤗
So happy to see a video from you ♥️🌟♥️
I am very happy to see you again ❤
This is one of my favorite language learning channels😻
Lol, I saved your videos to watch them now to figure out my 2025 goals for Korean. No idea you stopped because I've been watching all the former ones
❤ what a pleasure to see you again
Nice to see a video from you again!😊 it would be nice to hear what German resources you are using
If I do end up making more videos, this will definitely be something I talk about 💜
Oh my goodness, Tanya! You're back!❤
SHES BACK !!!🎉
I’m glad to see u again and you’re doing fine! Thank you for a motivation for learning languages! See u next year!
Your videos are not silly they are useful and helpful, don’t be hard on yourself
I am so glad to see this video! But in the same breath, please take the time you need. I really understand what you said about it taking one article or post to make you re-evaluate posting right now, its really difficult. It is nice to see you here again
Your videos are awesome! Your Italian videos were the ones that made me think I could do it. And I’m still going!
Wow, that makes me so happy to hear!
Welcome back❤
Oh my God! So happy to see a video of you! I did not watch this new one yet but I always have loved your videos and your content. I often cannot relate to language learners on RUclips but your approach has always been different - in a positive way! - and always brought me great new perspectives. I missed it very much! 🎉
I will watch it later when I have some time and enjoy it fully. Cannot wait ❤
Thank youu, it makes me super happy to read that!
Ohhh, good to see you again!
I just discovered your channel yesterday and now I'm seeing this
Haha, welcome!
But also I get you completely, I've dropped all my hobbies a few times because it didn't seem to matter anymore compared to the things going on in the world, it can be hard to balance that

i'm so happy you came back.
OMG! So happy to see you again 🤩
Happy to have you guys here 💜
hi tanya! your commitment to reading is really awesome to see :) usually i worry that i pick up the wrong pronunciation from just reading-so what are your thoughts on audio books vs physical copies?
I'm literally feeling the same, like the world seems toi continue when on the other side of the world people are dying in Palestine, Lebanon etc. When you can't do anything but sitting and watching that from your life. Like sometimes I don't talk anyone because they don't seem to care about others humans
However you are the only among the others that really help me to start learning languages and loving it like I swear your videos are really helping
I feel you. I know there are some great resources out there but when I adjust for my interests + level, there's barely anything left :(

Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2025! ଘ(੭ˊ꒳ˋ)੭✧
Thank you 💜 I’m so glad to hear you’ve been making progress with your languages! Balancing language learning, content creation, hobbies and responsibilities is definitely a challenge, but here’s to figuring it out in 2025 🙃
Happy New Year!
I really enjoyed Nada by Carmen Laforet, good pick
You can get great language audio input here on youtube with bilingual stories, they will read a sentence of a story in English then read the same sentence in target language. Polyglot Beats on youtube does that well for multiple languages and there other channels for specific languages... its been helping me get passive listening and learning when going on walks... time is by FAR hardest obstacle in language learning - anything that can get us some passive learning is a plus 😊
Interesting, never heard of that channel before!
Ahhhhh I’m so happy to see you!! I totally sympathize with the feelings behind dropping off the radar, even though I’ve done exactly the opposite and endlessly yap as a coping mechanism 😅
I know we talked about it already but 100% agreed on the fully input-based learning, I am definitely not going to be moving forward with German or Portuguese or any other language that way, it is just tooooo stressful when it comes to outputting.
Loved to hear these updates!
♥️♥️
Haha, well, I might not be on RUclips as a content creator, but MY coping mechanism is definitely watching you and other people yap about languages 😅
Also, I'm super curious to see how your German journey unfolds!
@tbenavente It would be just great, if you would have a GoodReads account, so we can see which books you read / heard and give us an idea what to read in the different languages.
@@ClaudiaEhrhardt I actually do have one: www.goodreads.com/user/show/2673536-tanya-b
@tbenavente Thanks a lot! I love Good Reads to look for titles in other languages.
Really. Always this Complaining and all. There is always war and genocide. So whatever! What a stupid reason. But thanks, there are enough youtubers.
"Whatever" is certainly an interesting way to talk about tens of thousands of people being killed.
Perhaps if you would focus on 2 languages for 2 years you should be at a B2 level within 2 years
And then you can add 1 more. Would that not be a more efficient learning plan ?
First things first, yes, that would definitely be a more efficient approach. I do regret taking on quite a few beginner languages at the same time, hence dropping Greek and Japanese, which I mention in the video. That being said, I do want to push back on some of your ideas:
First, the idea of everything needing to be optimized/productive/efficient.
