I am 35 years old and I feel healthier now than I did in my early 20's. See what happened was I gave up alchohol, increased my water and organic food intake, took up yoga and meditation. Now I don't get sick (like ever), and haven't been to a doctor in years. Our bodies are more capable than we could ever imagine.
Once out of the school system that required booster shots, I think all of us felt better.
I am male and in my 70's. I had reason to look at a plant free diet for my health after a lifetime of high plant food diet that left me with a very ordinary health outcome. I accepted my health then as normal as I knew no better. After the change to totally plant free my health has improved immensely. Practically beyond recognition in daily functioning. This is overall not just in any single issue.
I will let others do their own researching as I am not about to get into any debate. This may not suit others. I believe blood type has something to do with it, maybe, in ones ability to cope with plant matter. In my case it most certainly was.
How one handles stress is also a determining factor in health outcomes.
I feel so much anger towards these people, but we are of the same creation. Our creation is one! WE can only synchronize. To think we are better than creation, is only an illusion. This will cause us much sorrow. I do not wish sorrow! Only love/understanding...pls, all of you have the capabilities and understanding. Give your energy towards love and understanding!

Facts
I notice the debate stuck mostly to the implications of human gene manipulation and only briefly touch on plants and animals which with much thinner ethical veils on both are the more immediate threat. Also the advances in analytical AI systems could greatly accelerate advances in genetic manipulation to the point of it spiraling well out of our control.

The U.S. regulatory departments in government are run by big pharma and biotech employees that make the laws, policies and those that lobby government. The US government decided they won't treat CRISPR as being GMO so now the industry can do as they like and not even inform you. No regulatory oversight at all just like with GMO foods but worse.

My concerns would be the manipulation of DNA by organizations like world health organization, big Pharma, militarily industrial complex. Those who serve their own agenda and not the best interests of mankind.

After taking university genetics and molecular biology courses, I see genetics as so freaking complicated in terms of regulation, repair mechanisms, differential gene expression, robustness, etc, etc that I can't imagine the scenario people are freaking out about with designer babies or super-human soldiers. So much of genetics is not understood, not just about specific traits, but about how pathways operate. And much of genetic engineering in a lab is shooting in the dark and hoping a certain percent of your attempts were successful. It's extraordinarily difficult to edit single nucleotides or drop whole exons in precise targeting. As far as CRISPR itself, the machinery could bind to other locations within the genome and act at a non-target site (yay, unintended consequences) because CRISPR complexes target relatively small sequence domains. Hell, even introducing CRISPR reagents into the tissue of interest is a challenge (no, it won't just jump across the plasma membrane at the will of the scientist).
Precision medicine is the future. It is so exciting that people with a range of conditions can soon have higher quality of and potentially extended lifespans. Until we all become educated enough on the technology, we can't begin to understand its implications- so until then, how about focus on how much suffering will be (and already has been!) reduced.

Dr. Doudna, Way back in 1971 when I was in collge and majoring in Psycy an Biochem a professor asked me what I was going to do with it. I said well, the first thing we have to do is figure out how genes and chronosomes are related to disease and maybe behaviour. The professor at a SF Bay Area college said - You are wasting your time, there is no way we can get into anything as small as a gene or chronosome, go home and have babies and forget about it. Uh hum, sure thing. I kept following the field and 10 years later Dr.J, Craig Vinter did exactly what I said we needed to do. It took him 13 years, but he came up with the hardware and software and everything needed to sequence genes which didn't exist at the time the professor told me It couldn't be done.
I've since kept following the field and reading about the Tumor Suppressor gene in relation to cancer - my cool big brother died of cancer a while back and I have a question for you. I understand genes are binary, either on or off. If that is so can't we turn the TSG on by crispering out the mutated sequence and replacing it with the correct sequence that turns the tumor suppressor gene on.?

If we happened to play a part in this being done, and a specimen of Frankenstein virus were to "escape" the lab, then it'll be ok because the leak will not have been directly related to gain of function studies in a legally provable way.
Another sign that our institutions and the academia which trains the individuals to function within those institutions can agree to declare whatever they want to be "too big to fail". The declaration per se is not what determines truth, however.
And Karma stands fast, refusing to allow simulated understanding and virtue-signaling to substitute for genuine understanding and genuine expression of genuine virtue (which is likely to be indistinguishable from a simulated-thinking virtue signal).
The kind that will not allow the wings of a flying monkey to be able to demonstrate anything more than simulated flight to go along with that simulated thinking.
To believe that it is possible to know about something, but not study it because "we shouldn't", in a world set up such that "success" is a measure of one's ability to extract and exploit, is to maintain a suicidal mentality in the collective consciousness of the virtue-signaling collectives that have a simulated-thinking collective reality paradigm to narcissistically maintain. (Because it is only appropriate in a zero-sum competitive-based reality paradigm to strive for the impossible: to exist in a superposition of true self-superiority and true success.)
They're like oil and water. Sure we can make it seem like oil and water mix completely with the use of surfactant. But when we look closely enough, we will notice that this is an illusion. In "psychology" that soap is a tool called sublimation. I have a hunch we're about to finally attempt to pull our collective heads out of our asses as far as realizing that sublimation has got to increase more than just the likelihood that one will face less narcissistic abuse from the "normal" "common sense" folks who "know" they are "real", some of whom don the robes of a judge and are given the duty of administering the correct narcissistic abuse to compel compliance, which can never in and of its self produce genuine understanding. Providing the excuse of the "system of justice" that narcissistic abuse is the best we have collectively come up with to maintain a sense of order and unity.
Having had the impression that they've been on the rootn tootn right #1 path for so long, it has taken the stacking of multiple existentially threatening manifestations from our own actions performed in ignorance by the "experts" for them to no longer be capable of hiding just how ultimately clueless they still are, even though they are relatively LESS clueless about things that can only sound jargon-like and potentially misleading to those uninterested parties and individuals virtue-signaling their loyalties to those parties, some of whom can't be interested in learning to see how letters and numbers can go together in linear algebra for anything "useful" because they are stuck in a survival mode that is kept in place BY BEING NARCISSISTICALLY ABUSED and sublimating that into the perception that one is being "tough loved". So, basically, asking others to abuse us back into our state of "normal" within our collective consciousness which keeps us individually as a part of the collective through transmitting the collective consciousness' demand for a narcissistic self-perception to it's individual members, as Stockholm syndrome sufferers with the wings of the flying monkey. Flying around and maintaining the collective's perception of the true nature of reality through expressing narcissistic rage at anything which is not able to be perceived such that it provides narcissistic supply to the collective consciousness. Given that the "leaders" in these cohorts believe they actually create the collective consciousness and maintain it, when the collective does not quite function as expected, deception becomes the method for individuals to excuse themselves from personal responsibility for having taken part in manifesting what their cult leaders didn't tell them could not have been the planned manifestation.
And so, the leaders look for any silver lining, and then pretend that's the benefit of their actions, and the rest must be a result of not having identified the right scapegoat and the right narcissistic abuse to project upon that scapegoat.

Edit: You were also incorrect in saying it's only in the experimental stage and hasn't cured anyone. Maybe you didn't watch the entire video, but two babies that would have been born HIV-positive were instead born HIV-free because of the use of CRISPR technology to remove the gene (CCR5) required for HIV to infect cells and propagate in a human body. We know for a fact the technology works, it's only a matter of the will to use it. 36:45 For the bit about the HIV free babies.

I have a friend whose daughter was born with extra chromosomes resulting in like her body is trying to make a 24th chromosome. She has problems with her muscle development and several other problems and it's so rare that it's like one in 30 million births come out with this defect. For this little girl who is beautiful and inspiring crisper technology could be her only chance at a cure rather than suffer a painful short life I don't believe that people that say oh this is playing God and it's going to be all bad they don't consider this stuff they probably have at what great lives and they have no idea what it's like to depend on something like a miracle cure

The content of the discussion covered so many ideals that masked the context, that was never brought up about "Funding" which holds direct control over whether any of the ideals she mentioned are remotely implemented or, more importantly, even considered. Most funding, in this strain of endeavor, tend to be closely funded by private means, once these types of potentials are discovered, to ensure the public does not benefit in the ways it is being explained here because in America, the medical community is restricted from exposing, or discussing "Cures" unless they are strictly related to bad breath, foot and armpit fungus or other extremely minor inflictions that are more about discomfort than life threatening parameters. Besides, it's paramount to mention that most private sources of funding able to maintain private control over these technologies and discoveries are headed by folks who have already publicly declared their disgust or concerns about "Overpopulation" and overall global degradation by Man's polluting activities in their private opinions. This leads me to rely upon the lost art of critical thinking that discussions like these expose the possibilities but mask the true intent of Those Who Hold The Gold and essentially Make The Rules. Scientists are expert at developing knowledge. But they aren't in a position to objectively examine our relationship with knowledge. These two things are chronically confused, particularly by scientists.
the fun part of science is each person uses it for their own individual motivations. letting other ppl use the science against you while u sit back an deny its very existence is your own fault.
I don't believe that's entirely her fault though. From her perspective, she may want to delve deeper on certain topics or expand on the information she's poured countless hours into procuring, but presenting that to the greater world would/could pose a threat not only to her career, but her life. I truly believe she is limited not by her understanding, but by her community and those who run it. Although an individual, she is a cog in the machine that runs this world we live in.
Consider the fact that a politician doesn't reveal all the knowledge they have regarding the functioning of the government and at times may even lie, not because they'd necessarily want to, but because if they were to tell the truth the implications to come from that would be greater and far worse than feeding the public with a sugar couted reality to ease their concerns or interests. Interests of which would interfere with the agendas of the powers that prevent them from freely expressing their knowledge to begin with.

Really useful genome editing tool, but this has been around for a little while but it’s gaining lots of attention because of its efficiency and ease of use. Biotechnology as a whole is rapidly developing and the pandemic just fast tracked the market since it provided solutions chemical engineering couldn’t provide. Genome editing has been around for a lot of time, especially in the agricultural world.
The ethical debate is really concerning tho, because a lot of concepts are entangled. Can you, for example, edit an embryo for the sake of it’s health?

When and where it should or should not be used has nothing to do with her. All she can, and is doing, is use her voice to give her opinion. As a molecular biologist myself, i can perform this kind of gene editing whenever i want.

I find it quite intriguing and exciting that so many people from the general public express a genuine and deep interest in the topic of CRISPR-based gene editing, almost in the same way that so many people developed a passion for computers during the digital revolution in the 20th century.
