I'm seeing a lot of top level RUclipsrs using titles like this but it does feel a bit clickbait to me as well since I only talk about Damien Hirst for like 30 sec. or something and I don't want to trick people. What are your thoughts on this type of title?
As long as you are honest and sincere in your videos, I will always watch, like and say thank you, I don't mind you "Clibaiting", it's for a good cause. Keep it up
I felt very uplift and empowered after viewing it so I don’t really mind about the tittle. But hater gonna hate anyways so.. as long as you don’t over use it.. keep it up!! Your content is generous and insightful, thanks!
My entire life story just about 😅🙋🏾♀️. The top two things that held me back were fear of success and fear of failure; however, I realized I had to start the process💡 to even know what to expect before I even know the outcome. 😅” Aha” moment. About 2 weeks ago, I finally made an art page and started selling my art. It has been a journey, but the steps are taking me places I didn’t even imagine in the process initially . Thank you so much Dries for the amazing content and inspiration I NEED to keep me creating. 🙌🏾💕 And for other artists, creators and people fearing selling their art, stop the self-sabotage and start the process. The journey begins when you start, Happy Arting 😊🎨
I started painting in 2012 and put them on Saatchi. I sold my first painting that year. Fast forward to 2021 and it was my best year for sales so far. Ya just have to get it out there. I agree with you 100%. Regards
Dries, Great this is so true. Some of the people I was at art school with are really successful and have won the most prestigious art prizes in this country. And it’s a result of being committed to working every day - even for 20 mins - and getting into galleries and art prizes early. Perhaps I’m just too lazy? But I’m watching your videos again as they are so motivation. Best, Kathy.
appreciate your enthusiasm - I have such a block with selling my art - self-doubt and insecurity creep in and poison me just when I had my energy up to do it.
Thank you now I'm going to try to sell my art the only thing that stopped me was all the social media BS to which I have no idea about or intrist in. After watching your video I watched a clip from herst thank u
Absolutely... I often times listen to music from musicians who have like 134 subscribers... It's insane how good some of these are while at the same time being completely unkown.
Artists do post but people don't care. They don't comment. People don't inquire about how much something costs. People don't share the posts. People act indifferently like they don't care. So what if an artist posts their work all over but there are no views, no subs, no follows? Week after week, month after month, year after year and no results. Is it because the artist didn't try? Then when people go to the posts they leave after a few seconds instead of watch the post. They don't leave any comments but just leave the post without even watching it. When they go to your website they they have an indifferent and disinterested attitude. An artist can have thousands of posts that no one watches.
@eckmoor It's not that artists don't try and don't publish. It's that people don't care. They leave a video after a few seconds without watching it, without sharing it, without commenting. If it's a work for sale they don't ask how much it costs, they don't ask how they can get it. People act like they are indifferent and disinterested. Not that the artist doesn't publish their work. An artist can have thousands of posts on various platforms that no one watches. An artist can have a website even the kind that is responsive that will look good on any device. But people are indifferent, disinterested and don't care. I guess the only way any artist can succeed at all is having someone show their work to people they know. That way it gets any attention at all. An artist can even have a show that no one will see. Even worse an artist can pay thousands for an art show and not sell anything. I guess unless there is someone who knows people who buy and that someone will show the work to those people there is probably no way to get attention.
And yes do click bait as then people will see how good your videos are and stay in your fan club. It’s like having a hook in the first paragraph of a book. It grabs people so do it. Kathy x
I think your videos are fantastic! Have a question though, on one hand you say don't sell on online galleries but then in this video you say to sell on online galleries, how do we assess the best platform to sell on?
Well it's different for everyone. And although I don't think online galleries are the best place. For someone who has no experience with selling and is postponing on it for whatever reason. It's probably the best place because of how easy it is.
Much of what you mentioned I had dealt with throughout the years & managed by strongly accepting & declaring myself “Artist” that no more excuses are valid. My main art medium is Assemblage sculpting which have fragile & awkward elements & dimensions difficult to box up safely & ship. I wasn’t able to find video support on how to sell such works online & how to ship them. Also, when I started out looking for sites selling 3 dimensional works, Saatchi was the one that kept popping up, but their requirements for photo quality were strict & hard to manage on my own, with my budget. They’d since lowered those standards & that helped to get to the next step, yet by then they had added new ID requirements (needing the new State “Real I.D.”) that I struggled to get for awhile. Now that I have the I.D., I found “ARTPAL” might be my better choice to at least have a place for people to go to buy my works. Understanding all the different facets of what’s needed to be done in the business of selling art has been so far from what I know, & want to deal with as an “Artist”. I have to keep learning & taking time out to be an expert at so many other things, it kept occurring as overwhelming. Declaring myself “Artist” has at least given me a new focal point of strength & purpose making it worth moving forward, regardless. Your videos have been a great support for that. Thank you.
I've started online a while back. But no traffic. Even when I post links on Facebook and minds. Even when I put art on Instagram. The only piece I've sold other than donations to non profits years ago is an accidental facebook repky to one of my inks. About to start going the old school market route
Yes but in another video you said that Saatchi Art was kind of a scam. And that you don't have access to the buyers... I'm lost lol. But I do like listening to you! Keep it up, thanks.
If you're a beginner non of these online galleries are a scam... If you are intermediate to expert all of these online galleries are a scam... It all depends on your situation. Ps: You used to not get access to the buyer info but that has changed. Now you get the info.
@@driesketels Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. Yes, I am a beginner, so I will try it out. One last question while i'm at it, is Wix a good option for my website? Cheers.
