  • We're digging into another patent that could've been developed for the Wizarding World, this time for projection mapping and dynamically changing set pieces for a theme park ride.

I would love for Universal to build a park with the rides exactly as illustrated in these patents. It would be so great to go on that ride with the hovering pig and then queue up for this where I can watch in wonder as triangles and rectangles pass from right to left.

The whole "practical affects in front of projections" thing is absolutely genius & im shocked hasn't been utilized more to this point in parks. Its done fairly well in IoA's Spider-Man but utilizing it fully in a small-scale E-ticket could be amazing. Great find Alicia

Since it appears to be projector/screen based effect, I wonder if they could change out the scenes so maybe one ride could be in a forest and another ride could be in a cloudy sky? If that makes sense. So prehaps it could add some re-ride ability like Star Tours The Adventures Continue?

This premise would also make it very easy to construct attractions with multiple programs, so every time you ride you might get a different experience.
Much like hearing a different song on Guardians of the Galaxy, or getting a different drop sequence on Tower of Terror. But with this, much more of the experience could be altered since the video mapping and automation programs could be totally different while utilizing the same physical materials and spaces.

Awesome video as always, thank you.
I think the ideas presented here are great for transitions between scene's or expend rides when they are in fact on a smaller footprint.

The part where you said it could be for anything is the most important line in the video. This really is a technology that Universal will probably employ in many future attractions, to get away from the "too many screens" complaint. Yeah, it's still a form of screen, but people seem far more accepting of this.
One excellent example of how this could work on a non-elevator ride is what I previously said would need to happen for the Villain-Con attraction. Those conveyor belts are pretty much the only way I can see that walkway idea working. You can't remain at a "booth" if you're on a moving platform... unless the booth moves with you. The other moving parts could all be there to sell the story, like an item could break into two when you shoot it with a Lipstick Taser. (Seriously, they need a booth where you have to holler "Lipstick Taser!" before Lipstick Tasering someone/thing.)
Villain-Con very well may be the "test kitchen" for this technology (and might explain why it transformed from a ride to an attraction). If it works, then it's a solution for Harry Potter magic or for Nintendo interactivity. The moving/changing parts could be Pokémon transforming (leveling up?... what do they actually do?) or some creature moving around in a Zelda dungeon. Because this really does come off as something that will change depending on guest interaction.
    More Documents, please!

Could you see this as an upgrade to Men in Black or a system replacement for the Simpson?
