I REALLY enjoyed your video! I'm looking into giving a giant snail a forever home and am adding to my research. You have such a pleasant voice, and are easy to understand for this Texan, and you just put it out there! Thank you so much...I'm going to subscribe and I will be watching you to learn how to take care of my snail!
I don’t have GAL’s but I am getting some basic garden snail and milk snails. This video was great and helpful even for a different breed!! :))) lovely video

I'd love to see more , maybe make a ''What I would have liked to know befor getting a pet snail'' or ''what to do when they get a diseas'' . I'm full of questions and sadly not every video on here gives good answerse to my question but yours really did help me !
Hi my friend is surrendering her GALS to me, she can no longer give them the attention they need. I used to own GALS when I was younger. But I've been researching to catch up, I would love if you made more videos about their care. Through my research it's a very mixed bag if advice I've received and I think your videos is the most balanced out of most I've watched. Thank you 😊
Thanks for your informative video. I just want to give a tip to those who want to use soil from their own garden that they can steralize it in the oven first. 125c for an hour should do the trick. Thanks again from Sweden!
Thanks for your wonderful video! Lots of great information and you're clearly passionate about caring for your snails. I'm having a few young African snails moving in tomorrow and this is great for knowing what to expect and get started :)
Fantastic video. Really informative, clear and simple. I've been keeping snails since February of this year and now have three in a glass enclosure. The one thing I haven't used yet is snail mix as I often give them fish flakes instead. Do you only buy your snail mix or could you make a video on creating some?
Great video! I have been researching for a while now and never actually gone onto purchasing one. However I came across this video today and decided to purchase one! Thanks for the tips! Keep posting’ 😊
Great Video ! I love all your snail names. While I'd love to have some of the big guys ,like yours, they're not native to most of the US & def not in Massachusetts where I live.Instead I have a bunch of tiny, common, brown lipped snails, I call them my S-Gang.Being a gardener,I never, EVER thought I'd keep snails as pets, nevermind become so attached & constantly amused by them. But all it took for me to switch from revulsion to fascinated was one teeny-weenie, translucent, newborn crawling up the side of a copper pitcher, chasing dewdrops. Every time "he" got to one,he'd stop then darted fast into it,then stretched out his neck & face as far as it would go & start to undulate, and spin in circles, before moving to the next one, exactly like a kid jumping & dancing through puddles...I was hooked. I went from deciding to keep them for a few days to check them out more, putting them in a clear plastic container w/garden moss, doing lots of research, finding out how smart, friendly & cool they were,to now having a dozen in a fancifully decorated fish tank, with racing tracks, lichen covered sticks to climb on, handful of moss covered twig houses to hide in,even hanging bridges. They even have their own snail "God", a soapstone carved snail that all of them love to climb ( they often race, climb over ea other to be the one who gets to be on the tippy top onto the eye stalks.) I'm am curious,as I never thought of putting any bugs in(didn't know there WERE ones that'd eat all the endless coiled ropes of poop, lol) But i'm a huge bug hater, don't the wood louse, other bugs, get out through the screened top ? In the summer, when the humidity is high, esp if I give them fruit,or slices of certain soft veggies, like cucumber rounds, i get fruit flies & they drive me mad because they get out through the screen,so wouldn't it be the same with those ? On the live plant thing, while obviously your snails will eat more than mine, lol, one thing that has worked well for me is putting in established dandelion plants.Since these weeds grow & re-grow so fast, they've been perfect for me( us),they love them & they're chocked full of vitamins & minerals. You just have to pull it up & trim back offshoots from the tap root every once in a while or it can form a huge mat under your substrate & get too large, but leave the actual tap root itself alone. Even if they decimate it, you can pull it & out it in a glass of water by a window & in a day or 2( they're so pernicious, sometimes by next morning, lol) new leaves will start sprouting out again & it can be put back in the enclosure. Another thing mine love in their enclosure, for live "plants" are simple sprouts. For them it's like an All- You-Can-Eat,salad buffet highway, hehe.I keep a jar that I sprout seeds in for my own salads, so I have a constant supply to replenish from. I use a pencil & drag a line in the substrate, (make it random, winding, they seem to enjoy it more *grin* or maybe it's just me)then sprinkle a very heavy, continuous line of sprouted seeds ,give them a spritz of water, cover w/tiny bit of substrate.spritz them every day.every cpl days I fill in the eaten gaps with new ones, takes less than a minute to do. Some days they'll line up all along it,head to foot, munching then moving along, like a slow Conga-line & it makes me giggle. 🐌 🐌 🐌 🐌 🐌
Hi! So this happened today. I found one of these babies dumped on the side of a garbage bin.. It's about 15 cm long, I'm from Greece and winter is setting in... Obviously I keep it indoors and I will transform an aquarium like I see in the video... Any other advice will be helpful...Thank you ❤

Hello is a 4.5 L tank ok for two African land snails? Mine are 1 month they will arrive soon! I just need to know if that ok but what they grow I will hopefully be upgrading!
Hi! I'm really interested in getting a snail as a little pet, but I'm not sure where to start or what I should be researching. Could you do a video covering the basics for a beginner like me?
Hi, I'm new to African land snail keeping and I have my first juvenile. I have recently read that carrot can make their excretion orange, I wondered if this would be the same with sweet potato with the it's colouring? Have you experience of this happening?
Just got my kids 2 albino land snails and this is a missive help! A little confused as to how wet/dry/damp to have the substrate? And do you leave the cuttle fish until it’s all eaten? Is it’s gotten dirty and somewhat soggy! It’s definitely a learning curve 😂😂
Substrate should be wet enough that if you squeeze it in your hand it will stick together but NOT have water come out. Cuttle fish you can leave in till there eaten all the soft bit, if its dirty you just rise it and put it back
You really should have looked into the basics before getting them :/. I don't really recommend them for kids either, just make shure you take good care of them
snail house I did, but nowhere does it really state the contusions of the bedding. It says what to use, sure but, not how moist it should be. I knew everything they required. Just didn’t know cuttlefish bones could be washed 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you soooo much for this such informative and interesting video 😍 ! I have a question. Isn't there a risk that the "cleaner crew" reproduce quickly ? And then what would you do? And what do you do with isopods & co when you need to change the substrat ? Thanks to anyone that would answer to this silly newbie question 😅
Hi, I have just ordered 2 snails and a complete set up. I'm currently trying to learn as much as I can about Snails and caring for them. One question I have is regards to the heat mat. Some pages say to keep it underneath the tank, others say to keep it on the side, but how do you fix the heat mat to the side of your tank? TIA XX
I have a question my snails stink if I don’t Clean the whole tank every week because for there poop I think I’m not sure but I have decided not to put dirt down until I stop the smell at first I thought it was normal but now I relaxed it’s not
This video was really informative! I have one question though, where did you get the snails featured in this video? I've been wanting to get some snails for a while now and was curious the best place to buy them. 🐌 ♡ ♡ ♡
If in Europe: Crazy snail lady, Achatina’s world, Lena Sakizci, Snailgarden, BugzUK. If in Australia: The Insectory, Minibeastwildlife US, Canada, Mexico and Japan are pretty much out of luck for captive bred snails for various reasons (mostly legal)
you probably won't see this, but i've noticed my snails tank doesnt get hotter than 23c and i have my mat on the bottom of the enclosure. am i best moving it to the back like yourself or getting a stronger wattage? the only problem with a larger wattage is the mat also gets larger
Put the heat mat on the side, not the bottom. And make shure the part of the heat mat that is facing away from the enclosure is insulated so heat can't escape. That should heat it up and make it safer for you snails
23oC is ample temperature, wouldn't worry to much. They'll survive without a heat mat in the right climate. Room temp is normally enough. Wouldn't risk raising the temp any more, in case it becomes to warm.
Really awesome video! I used this to prepare a terrarium for my Gal, I just want to say as a side note your tattoo is so cool! What do the Norse runes say?
Thank you soooo much for a very informative and detailed video. Just what I need. I have never had any GALS before so I'm totally new to it all. I've researched on them ....probably too much, there are lots of different options and it just confuses me... and I can tell you that at 65 it's something I do not need any help with🤣. I've had my snail for 6 days now and it only started eating last night, not much though, about 4 pea sized dollops of porrage...she's a Scottish GALS 😅. She drinks from water on sides when I mist tank. Can anyone tell me if not eating for so long is normal please? And, what kind of lighting would I use on terrarium ? I have live plants, spider plant ( great use for all the baby plants I have lol) and turtle leaf plant was thinking they would need light, but after hearing about hiw long your plants last lol it probably isn't worth putting any lighting above tank lol lol. Again many thanks for sharing take care from Ruby x
Thanks allot !❤️ I love African Giant Land snails ! They are amazing pets , maybe not for everyone ,but yeah ! They are so interesting to watch . I'm obsessed with all of my pets ! Pets are so awesome . I love your videos ! ❤️
