Sitting by the fire and reading? Yes, please! This wonderful tradition started in Iceland, but we are ready to embrace it fully, lol. Big Bin #11 has a fun selection of vintage Catholic book finds that would be great in any library, but which one should we read first? Help us decide!

A book flood! I LOVE LOVE love this idea! I am a super book person and this is such a unique, and cool idea to theme your big bin #11 with Jolabokaflod. I agree I think this would be an amazing tradition for everyone, I think we definitely will be adopting this tradition, if anything just to encourage more reading in our household!

Hmmm . . . if you drink hot tea while eating chocolate, does that count as eating chocolate or drinking hot chocolate? I think Kate should read Rebel Nun, and I think Jennifer should read Recruiting for Christ. Why? Why not? Have a merry Christmas, and enjoy your books and your chocolate!

Hmm, you don't think that the homilies would benefit someone??? I guess you know what your community uses or doesn't, but perhaps someone would be inclined to read them? Father Mike is putting out books of his homilies, so I wonder if they will be donated in 5 years time... I vote for St. Katharine for Jennifer and This is Rome for Kate. (The Rebel Nun sort of scares me. Just wondering if it will be a bit too radical??? If you do read it, I will definitely watch your review.)
You are right, Ann- it is true that someone might pick up and read a book of homilies from 2004 and be touched and inspired by them. Our trouble here is that our library receives *so many* books like this- they are time sensitive reflections, and we get them for Lent, Advent, all the Church Year cycles, etc. It is just not possible for us to keep them all, and, through tracking them on our library website, we know they don't get checked out... because everyone wants material for the current year. Fr. Mike would fall into a different category, we think, because he is so well known and most likely will be a saint someday. Thanks for weighing in on the books... we will keep you posted on what we pick and how it goes. In the New Year we will be reading a short book that we picked out just with you in mind.
