Yes, they've done that to our church also. Somehow they use the pastor's email to ask for money then he has to send an email saying don't send me money because that email is not from me. It's happened a couple of times over the past year.

I tell my Gramma, no one will call you and ask about your finances. You get letters and my father handles all of that. If they ask anything, hang up. And she has been good for years. It's sad. It always bothers me how these scumbags zero in on the elderly. My Gramma was the kindest human being who ever lived... once she received a call from a strange number. It was a female voice and Gramma made the innocent mistake of asking, "Jill? Is that you?" (my sister's name) and of course the scammer latched onto that info and began begging for money because she needed to bail out of jail. Luckily Gramma grew suspicious enough to ask the scammer what my sister's middle name was.

Kitboga is impressive with his ability to carry on conversations as different people, produce sounds to mimic driving, stores, etc., and set up his computer to show viruses and fake bank accounts. The truth is DO NOT TRUST anyone who calls or leaves a voicemail to call them back. And NEVER open a link in your email, no matter who it is. Banks don't send emails. Credit cards don't send emails. Amazon doesn't send emails. Microsoft doesn't send emails. Trust NO ONE.

check out Malcolm Merlyn. there is a scammer he kept mailing packages. the scammer has to pay to recieve all the packages. Malcolm writes "electronics" on the packaging so that way when the scammer recieves it, he has to pay for it based on a percentage of the value. all told, the scammer paid tens of thousands of dollars to receive packages of actual shit.

I share these with all my friends over 50. I’m 70, and have been slammed with calls posing as Windows repair, car warranties, Amazon refunds (they just refund the money, they don’t call), SSN crimes, et al. My friends I share these with aren’t gullible or stupid. They’re retired and active and law-abiding people. But if you’re not in the mindset of say, a drug addict, you won’t be thinking like they do. Likewise, if you aren’t a scammy person, you don’t think someone posing as an IRS agent isn’t who they say they are, despite their sketchy accent with a total WASPY name! It always bothers me how these scumbags zero in on the elderly. My Gramma was the kindest human being who ever lived... once she received a call from a strange number. It was a female voice and Gramma made the innocent mistake of asking, "Jill? Is that you?" (my sister's name) and of course the scammer latched onto that info and began begging for money because she needed to bail out of jail. Luckily Gramma grew suspicious enough to ask the scammer what my sister's middle name was.
someone did that to my grandma too-they said,”it’s your oldest grandson”, so then she said name, of my brother, luckily my brother actually called her shortly after that

check out Malcolm Merlyn. there is a scammer he kept mailing packages. the scammer has to pay to recieve all the packages. Malcolm writes "electronics" on the packaging so that way when the scammer recieves it, he has to pay for it based on a percentage of the value.
all told, the scammer paid tens of thousands of dollars to receive
packages of actual shit.
And added a sock filled with chucky cheese tokins.

I share these with all my friends over 50. I’m 70, and have been slammed with calls posing as Windows repair, car warranties, Amazon refunds (they just refund the money, they don’t call), SSN crimes, et al. My friends I share these with aren’t gullible or stupid. They’re retired and active and law-abiding people. But if you’re not in the mindset of say, a drug addict, you won’t be thinking like they do. Likewise, if you aren’t a scammy person, you don’t think someone posing as an IRS agent isn’t who they say they are, despite their sketchy accent with a total WASPY name!
