Pretty much Sessy is a demon, he saved Rin. And she started following him around and was seen as a big brother/fatherly figure to her..He then took her in as part of his group, as well as too her into his heart. Yet nothing romance ever happened but the fandom do AUs for many years later they do become an item..(as Rin was about 6 when they meet and 10 when series ends)
I know I’m delusional but I ship them much more than with their love interests in the show 😂❤
