Had seen this movie in 2008....back then i wasn't mature enough to appreciate it. Saw it again today, absolute gem.
Yeah me too, I was 29 or someting back then..
Really
Same I was 11 years old and was only able to go because my 14 year old cousin convinced his mother to let us go! It was suppose to be Clint’s last film so it was packed but I couldn’t appreciate/grasp that
I cried at the end, great movie. One of the best I've seen. I hope Clint Eastwood will live for a long time.
☹️
I agree. Totally heartbreaking.
Legends never die
93 and still kicking❤
93 hes still going, hope i dont jinx it 💪
The ending was so sad and every words of that old man made sense. I have just finished the movie and it's really a classic.

In a weird kind of way, I feel like this movie evokes the phrase: “always fear the old man in a profession where men die young.” Great movie!
A little backstory to this movie: Back in the 1970's/80's a shitload of Hmong refugees came to a suburb of Minneapolis, MN called Columbia Heights. Their integration wasn't always easy. This is the story of that time period, updated for modernity.
The guy who wrote the movie, Nick Schenk, grew up in Columbia Heights, my hometown. I don't know if I'd call him a friend, but we drank out of a lot of the same kegs when we were in high school. He was always a decent guy. Good to see he made it in Hollywood.
Great flick -- and California was the other state that got the Hmongs, including General Vang Pao, who led his warriors against the North Vietnamese along the Laotian. My Dad actually worked with them in Laos during the Vietnam Conflict -- very tough, very kind people. But assimilation for refugees is always tough one way or another, both on them and their new neighbors. They had the same type of trouble in California, which breeds gangs due to ethnic turf wars. Newcomers always a target. So they gang up to defend themselves.
The MALL OF AMERICA?
Thanks for that info!

@D jango are you the grumpy old fart who lived across the street from Walt??
Born in 81.. I grew up watching many of Eastwood’s Movies.. Feeling more acceptance and better treatment from an Asian family in my later teens and early 20’s than I felt I received from my own Father and step family… This one is special to me more so than the ones I grew up watching. In many ways or themes it hit damn close to home.. Made me tear up you…. %#&$+ Even after the 2nd viewing.! Thanks ☺️ Clint, those who supported him on this project., I.e. cast & crew, & WB. Blessings & Be well.
Clint Eastwood is a true national treasure. He has been apart of many of our lives. My Dad grew up watching him, I grew up watching him. In a way Eastwood helped raise me as I was shown his westerns at such a young age. I also LOVE this movie.
Walt is so bad ass I love old school tough fellows like him.

Clint Eastwood is simply amazing in this movie-probably one of his best performance.
In fact i see Clint as a better director than an actor altho he acted damn well in this movie tough guy with kindness.
story of a guy from history letting go of his hate. powerful shit.
Clint in "The good, the bad and the ugly", Clint in "Gran Torino". His performance is so atmospheric in both.
Fun fact: that Gran Torino was first bought by a guy here in the small town of Monett where I live. Crazy how it found it’s way to Hollywood and in such a great movie!

Just watched this movie for the first time. Such a great movie. Everyone needs to see this.
Another number one Clint Eastwood movie. He reminds me of my father. Men where real Men They always would take care of business. My father did everything for us worked a full week then worked on Saturday when they were building the Commodore Barry Bridge That connected New Jersey to Pennsylvania. And on his day off he be doing things around the house or working on the car. I wish he was back he died when I was 18. To this day I remember him every day.❤
Great movie but the end made me so sad
Great movie, Great ending
He went out as a cowboy
what happened in the end?
Abhishek Kumar Pandey Watch the movie.
Swaggy Yankee you have watched it..
Straight to eternity. Do someone can just count how many jewels this monument man has created during past 25 years. Long live, our dear Gran Torino.
Clint is truly one of a kind. He takes the chance of hiring an unknown screenwriter, then turns the film into a huge hit. He marches to the beat of his own drum. Very rare in Hollywood.

"Gran Torino"(2008) is an excellent social drama movie! The last part of the movie was very touching!
We need more people like him!
Needless to say this country needs more guys like Walt!

just watched the movie. I loved it. Such a simple yet great story, and one great ending
If you haven’t seen this incredible movie- see it! It’s one of my favorites- it’s real, it’s rough, it’s deep, its redemptive.
What a personality clint eastwood. An angry young man always... Ppl who says got aged should watch his acting and get nourished in life.. Really sooper at the age of 80

I could watch this movie continuously and never tire of it !!!!!!!! How many movies can you say that about?
Excellent movie.
kornfreak78 it was excellent till the last 10 minutes.. the ending wasnt what i expected.. i didnt like it.. the boy(thao) gets a sigaret in his face.. he fucks up the face of the gang member.. the girl(sue)got raped and he acts so slow and till the very end he goes to that house unarmed and lets himself get killed?? Pfff come on man.. he should have let those bastards suffering a slow death for what they did to sue! I really didnt expect that ending especially when you talk about eastwood..
(Spoilers follow) I can explain the ending. The protagonist knew he didn't have enough resources (or time -- he was dying, after all), so he came up with a plan: give power and responsibility to a neighborhood that was becoming known for keeping its mouths shut about trouble -- to put it simply, they could continue to stay silent after watching their hero be gunned down by gang rapists, or they could learn to speak up for themselves and be heroes for each other. The latter is what the neighborhood actually NEEDED, since the protagonist's days were SEVERELY numbered. That's why he made a big scene of it, and why the cameras showed neighbors watching out of their windows. When you see the gang members all arrested at the end, it means the protagonist succeeded (NOT FAILED!) in his plan to help assure his neighborhood's future. It's not the ending I expected either, but after some reflection, I realized how much more powerful it was, and it also explains why the protagonist told the priest earlier that day that he had already found peace.
Click clack, ding dong & Charlie Chan.
@@faridsidiabdelghani9591 he sacrificed himself so that the kid could have a future. I don't know how you failed to understand that.

This is truly an Clint Eastwood classic, one of the best films about vigilante justice.
Movies as good as this simply cannot be made today. A shame.
Immensely thoughtful and touching movie that shines a spotlight on the Hmong community. Eastwood has done really provocative and unintentionally controversial films in his late years. American movie goers snubbed this film along with Letters From Iwo Jima.
Letters from iwo jima and the companion film were amazing.
You know it's a great film when even the trailer brings you to tears.
The older I get(65 now)...the more I identify with Walt....
Great movie....great acting...!😊
Perhaps an underrated movie. This is a great film.
One of the best, heartfelt movie of my life time. Clint Eastwood is a legend.
Just rewatched this classic....I feel like this movie is super underrated and slept on
funny movie, serious scenes only to leave you crying at the end. Clint East really showed his acting chops.
Ending was rough. I actually had a damn tear drop.
he really plan to take those thugs locked up
Can you imagine if Clint Eastwood had been Harry Callaghan instead of Walt? There would been law and order in the neighborhood, especially if he had the 44 Magnum.
Rene Auvray Lawn and order haha
he evolved from his dirty harry days...but it was a tough ending for him ....for sure!

Watching this immediately after seeing the actual movie just makes me sad all over again. Not that kind of sad. This trailer was sad.

"I'm proud to say you're my friend". That line meant a lot coming from Walt.
Walt is just like my grandpa.
He worked on the line at a Chevy plant.
He was shopping for new car, my dad told him just get a Cadillac and he'd cover the difference between the caddy and a Chevy. He informed my dad that a Cadillac is a manager car, refusing the Cadillac.
Sam Brown it was made in Detroit because my cousin lives there and we watched the filming. Everyone who lives Eastwood knows the film was a Detroit location by the sights they filmed at.
His son in this made me sick. Had no time for his father whatsoever. Then expected to get the most out of his will. Just wanted to get rid of him, by the end it was nice how Clint recognised Thao as his real family
I just found the same rage in his face as Inspector Callahan of Dirty Harry at his old age in Gran Torino just incredible .
Loved the Movie (just watched it for the first time to day), but this trailer spoils WAAAY too much! It basically shows all the important things that happen!

This show is one of my favorites! It eloquently shows one man's path to redemption and forgiveness. As well as how we can come together as cultures. I will leave you with a quote from the king James version bible. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
Even in this age ,he is one cool badass man ❤️❤️....we admire you Clint...do more films

You are confusing gran torino with gran turismo
@@parispolycarpou2646 She is not confused. The title of the film is taken from the name of the car. The car used by Walt Kowalski is Ford Gran Torino
movie was great we were totally hooked with the story plot. simple, clean plot and heartfelt
One thing I really like about this movie is it's from Walt's perspective so we don't get offered subtitles when Walt doesn't understand something, only if it's meaningful dialogue between the Hmong that concerns Walt.
This movie is like the grown up version of Disney’s UP. An old man befriending a young kid
Someone said that we can see the beauty of a man when he becomes old. It exactly goes with this man, Clint Eastwood. His aged face adds more beauty in his actings.

Remember asking for this on DVD and a host of other Clint Eastwood movies for my 16th birthday, before streaming. It has to be one of the most heartwarming stories imagineable.
A film about the spiritual side of life: an insult can be love, a stranger can be your brother, your junior can be your father, death a part of life and sacrifice for the sake others your only way to live, eternally.
