One of my great pleasures was working in crowd control at Rally Australia several times, mobile on dirtbikes with my sons. We were very fortunate to have a private meeting with Michele and a long chat with her after one of the events. She was lovely to talk to and that fire from her early days is still there, now directed towards crowd safety. Thanks for sharing this important video.
I myself have been a rally official and road guard at various rallies and in the Swedish Championship a few times, and safety is important in these competitions. When I was at a rally the first time was in the 1970s, I sat down by a tree about 10 meters from the road in an outer curve. (The cars didn't go that fast in those days) Then an official came and told me that I had to move, behind the trees and I did. Three cars later, there was a VW that came and had no brakes left and drove straight into the tree where I had been sitting. It made me think again. After that, the idea of safety was important to me. So all rally people, think about safety when you are out on the rally and leave alcohol, prams and the dog at home in the rally forest. They have the hardest time moving when the danger is real. All credit to Michele Mouton. 🙏
@@beelzebub425 That's because governments benefit from having a complex regulatory system. It's not written on stone and it's not the same in every country. @@ALIENdrifter66 yea but then explain why it isn't still like the group b days. They can't just control how people spectate over dozens of miles of stages and multiple hours. And that is the root of the problem. People wont argue that you shouldn't have been standing there, they'll argue that there shouldn't be a car going that fast with no spectator rules just like in any other racing sport regardless of how stupid it is to stand outside a corner. Your right they can but they sure didn't and sure won't now and to keep the sport alive they do what they have to.
I do quite a bit of marshaling here in Ireland, the hardest parts is getting people to listen, a lot of the time they step back but as soon as the cars come or you turn your back to them to check elsewhere they move right back to their original spot
Safety people sometimes feel like a pain, but they serve an important job so the sport doesn't end up in the front page of the news for the wrong reasons.
So you're telling me Michele Mouton drove past me a couple of months ago without me even realizing? :D Either way, at that stage where I was, the crowd sadly wasn't kept in control and the second pass was cancelled after the first few cars. Let's hope people will become smarter about their spectating, so that Michele and everyone else involved doesn't have that much work to do and stage cancellations due to crowd control are done away with. Also, the next time I'm at a WRC event, I'll make sure to wave at the Safety car!

Mouton shouting at people special. The first WRC stage I saw live started with Mouton shouting at people. However, I must admit I find the prospect of having a flying hunk of metal fly 3 feet mach 11 from my face enticing, as those places also happen to be the best spaces to spectate the rally from.

The only time it's appropriate to show Group B footage without the sound is when Mouton is talking. ❤
Cool. Next make similar video about all the new things you're implementing to the cars to make sure last years tragic accident doesn't have a repeat.
is it a flex or not i dont know but, mouton has yelled at me :DD
