Maybe it depended on the family, my parents got married in 59 and built a house and moved in during 1960. Their house was def minimal with very little furniture or even toys until prob the 80's when they started buying a lot and going to estate sales. They filled their house up with SO much stuff. To this day I love seeing the pictures of the house when we were small and there wasn't much stuff. 😅
