The greatest voice of all time and one hell of a drummer.

At 6:26 Karen wasn't out of breath because she was an athletic tomboy who played softball every chance she got.

I grew up in the 70s listening to her and infatuated with her, couldn't get enough of her! I'd listen to her singing "Close To You", and imagine she was singing it to *me!* ( Like I said, *infatuated!* )
Then, while I was in college, she died and I mourned her by listening to her music over and over - once I accepted that she was actually *gone!* ( and at *only 32 y.o.!* )

You remember correctly, she has (well, tragically, had) a really really good voice. Arguably the best female vocalist of the twentieth century. Passed away at 32 in February 1983 of complications from anorexia nervosa...

One more, Karen singing a cover of the Beatles' "Help!" and she's again behind the kit ripping it while singing lead. Love her! So underrated as a drummer/singer. Thank you for thinking of her and checking her out. Such a great talent, gone too song.

She looked so happy when drumming. So sad she didn't have a chance to do more before she passed away. It was prerecorded part in the back on screen, while she performed 'with herself' live with the filmed part behind her. Pretty neat actually.

Those little wooden things are called Wood Blocks.
The technology in 1976, that you find amazing, is called video tape.

Yes they had the technology back then to “duplicate her.” The original Parent Trap movie was from 1961 and featured one actress (Haley Mills) playing twins, often showing two of her in the same shot.

Hee hee...early (and pretty well done) green screen photography...yes that's two of Karen...a lot of what you hear, typical of TV performances, is a recording...but it is a recording of Karen, and she's also playing live, you just don't hear that on TV...

Doc, this was such a good video to react to! But I’d love to see you react to Eric Moore or Tony Royster Jr. Two modern drumming legends right there.
