  • The family that lives here needed some major help, so we got stuck in and solved the problem. All up, we took out about 4 trailer loads of rubbish and gave the entire place a good cleanup, trimmed some bushes, and power washed the drive & paths. The job took us around 12 hours to complete, and we also organised the gutters to be cleared by a third party, so they got the works. This customer is now a part of my regular mowing service, so the property will be maintained going forward. Please watch your language in the comments as the owner & family may be watching. This is part 1 of 2.
Part 02: • This Yard looked like ...

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

sometimes it isn't people just not caring or are lazy, sometimes it's those with mental health and possibly these 2 were called in after someone saying "enough is enough, rip the bandaid off, pay the piper now and make them feel better"
I just love the tranformations, without judging others... I'm unable to work physical labour for more than 2 hours a day, if I push it to 4 then I'm done for the week. Not everyone is as blessed as everyone else...
Here's what you should do, go knock on your grandparents door and spend time with them, volunteer for services that need human beings... you would have you eyes opened to a world of "I didn't know those types of people existed"

I was going to say watch out Tammy, you are going to be "judged" for giving your opinion here, (too late). I do not think you are being harsh, simply stating a generality. I have neighbors who run hot and cold in keeping up their yard. They are able bodied, young and healthy. I do not go over to knock on their door to complain. I stay friendly and keep my nose out of their business. I am aware some folks have physical or financial limitations re keeping up their property. I have even helped out a time or two when I know someone is in need. Having seen both sides of the spectrum on this, I was speaking in general terms rather than actual finger pointing. Guess it is easier to ass-ume the worst of others, (generally speaking that is).

@@woolcardigan. You have no idea if I helped them or not, but you make the assumption I didn't. Not once was I trying to be snarky or judgmental? I have to wonder why you take my comments so personally. I don't recall aiming my comments at anyone specifically here. I didn't tell anyone to shut their trap, nor did I say their comments were dumb. Sorry, I refuse to lower myself to a self demeaning level by throwing insulting words at others. There are better and more intelligent ways to express a personal opinion.

To all that had something to say about my comment: I've been living with Lupus, for the past 17 years among other health issues there has been lots of up and down including learning to walk four times coming from wheelchairs to walkers. However even if you are unable to do things for yourself you could still higher someone but never should you let it get that bad. If you can't higher someone then family members or friends could jump in. So don't get it twisted that I don't have a heart cause I do. Now for Ms Bannister keep in mind what comes out of your mouth may just happen to you should never wish someone bad health. What we all must keep in mind we all have our own opinions and none is better than the rest.

I know in our neck of the woods, if you put out large items on trash day, often there are people who deliberately look for trash day cast offs to pick up.

It's so great to watch the transformation. It shows that everything is possible if you are willing to invest some effort. The only thing I absolutely do not understand is why is this property looking at the beginning like a dumping ground? Of course, I get that a garden can be a problem and once it is out of control it's hard to get it back under control again. But why throw or place all this garbage there? God bless you guys and thanks for supporting this struggling family!

It’s one thing if your grass is a little long and maybe a bush or tree needs trimmed…it’s a completely different thing when you have garbage all over your yard. That’s disgusting, and inexcusable. That’s pure laziness. If you’re going to have a house and yard, then darn well take care of it. Shame on all the lazy slobs who don’t appreciate the fact that they have a home. I’m 78 with arthritis all over my body, including my spine, but my huge yard is always immaculate. I would never dream of throwing garbage in my yard…disgusting!

What I wanna know is WHY people allow their yards to accumulate that much junk and stuff.
K I got more than a few weeds that need pulling at the moment - because I simply haven't had the energy to pull em & pulling weeds is a never ending task as they keep growing back. But accumulating that much junk - I don't understand how people can live like that.
