Bivvy Night in the Cairngorms

  • Type 1 Fun! A Monday night saw me heading up into the mountains for a hike, bagging five munros before sunset and then sleeping on the fifth one. I’ve slept in and around many mountains in my life, but it’s pretty rare to get the chance to sleep on top. It was magical.
Up early for a sunrise coffee, then trekked back down to the carpark on time to start my day, like a regular person but with grass in my hair.
I didn’t consider myself to be very stressed (just busy, in a good way), so it was remarkable just how relaxed I felt throughout my day after just one night in nature. I definitely don’t do nights like this often enough when I’m home, and especially not when I’m busy, but I think I need to make nature more of a priority in my life!

Another crackin' little film. Nice choice of music and not too much drone footage. First rate.

Thanks so much Jim! (I'm still nervous and confused about the drone hence there wasn't much!!!). Your kind comment means a lot to me :)

Nice work! I did something similar on Thursday - biked into the cairngorms Thursday night after work for a little camp then bagged two munros in the morning and back home to the city for the afternoon! The cairngorms are so good for a wee overnight adventure! 👍

Amazing! Yeah I can't believe I don't do this more often! We're so lucky to have quick access here in Scotland to beautiful short trips. I have no excuse :)

Thanks John! So true... I can't believe I don't do more of this when I'm home. Left the car at 3pm, was back by 9am. Felt flipping amazing for it. What's my excuse!?

@@JennyTough_ haha I've been thinking about doing it mid-week. Leave work on the bike. Ride 4 hours up state NY, camp, up at 5am and straight back to the office! Might end up with a pretty tired day in the office but would be so nice!

I’m hoping the Type II fun run has these landscapes! I’m so excited for that adventure and to visit these places.

Hi Jenny, thank you for sharing your adventures, they are so inspiring! I can't wait to see your next adventure.
I've been doing (ultra)trailrunning for a couple of years now, and thinking about fastpacking as well. I'd love to hear your do's and don'ts when going out multi-day, and what your gear/load-out is? Would you perhaps be willing/able to do a video on that?

Gearhead Q? That green Nalgene 1L you used in Morocco, do you put boiling water in that, or 'can' you? put boiling water in it to tuck into the sleeping bag, especially when you are using a bivy? (I have one and can't find any skinny on it.) Ta if you can.

I am inspired and jealous at the same time! Hahaha...that means i don’t know whether to hate it or love it :-) mind if I ask how much your backpack weighs?

Dear Jenny, a great video---again! You catch the atmosphere in a couple of minutes, thanks for that.
Hopefully people like you and me will always be the minority so the chances of having a mountain or a summit for one alone stays on a high level.
