That is so true. Even all the Marvel movies aren't like these were. Yes, they were great but LOTR was truly epic and felt like reality I could have once been apart of...or perhaps in the next.
“All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
The nostalgia is killing me... I was always a lonely child; weird, different, never popular. But Tolkien was always there for me, even when nobody else was. I love these fantasies more than can be put into words!
These movies actually brought me to the closest friends I ever made in high school, friends I still have to this day. Just a bunch of people who didn't fit in elsewhere, but we all read these books and were all ready for the movie. That's the power of great art. When you use the word "nostalgia" I can only assume you're close to my age. Correct me if I'm wrong.
"Star Wars", the "Dark Knight"-Trilogy and others are better in my opinion. While the "Lord of the Rings"-movies are not bad, they do not really work as a trilogy, rather as one single movie.
night wing"The Lord of the Rings"-Trilogy is not better than the "Dark Knight"-Trilogy. Both have a great atmosphere, good actors, an interesting Story and a wonderful soundtrack. However, the "Dark Knight"-Trilogy has more thoughtfulness and a better structure.
+Alexander A For real. I hope some day my students will understand why I suggest LOTR as a final English Literature novel series. Too bad I'm no English professor. I would love to use The Hobbit and LOTR series in my lessons. As a science teacher though I'm limited to teaching by textbooks due to stupid standardized tests. Otherwise I would so teach the Ecology of Middle Earth and co-teach with an English teacher
z Haxeu So many students do. Mainly because I help them to focus on what is in the exams, so we all win. ^_^ In seriousness though, I would love to banish tests/exams and focus on the fun aspects of science. I also love co-teaching with other teachers, and find connections between the subjects. The biggest reason why so many students fail certain subjects at a high school level is because there aren't enough correlations or connections between the subjects they are taking that students are at a lost. In elementary and middle school grades the subjects re related or connected, but at high school level they all seem like completely different species. They are different subjects, but do they have to be so disconnected from one another? I don't know. I think too much like an ESE teacher and not as a General Ed teacher. Anyways thank you so much for your comment. That is sweet of you. Peace be.
Ivan 99 I know all too well who you are referring to. Let me guess, general ed? Sorry, I don't mean to insult anyone, I just know from personal experience, both as a student and teacher that GE teachers tend to be ridged, inflexible and have an unwillingness to execute new theories and ways, as well as being sarcastic asses to the point of patronizing and belittling other peoples' intelligence. It isn't totally their fault. It is the system. The main premise of the public school system (mostly) is to have a predicable product, which is an obedient productive consumer servant of society. George Carlin stated very beautifully in many of his stand-up comedy shows, far better stated than I ever could. I highly recommend people to watch him. :) I try whenever I can to step to the sidelines. If anyone gets upsets or disapproves, I simply state, "The end result is all that matters. The students are passing the class and, more importantly, they are passing the exams." That usually keeps everyone calm and happy. :)
I cannot take the intensity of how emotional this song is!! Everytime I watch the fellowship I cry and when this song comes it just adds to the buckets!!
This song makes me think that there's something. I don't know what. Some may call it God, others hope, or fate. But It makes me feel like there's good in the Universe, even when we can't feel it.
It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for. - Samwise Gamgee
I guess the reason I like LOTR and the Hobbit is because it shows you anyone can be a hero, small or big. A very inspiring message when you get down to it. Well and obviously because it is simply awesome!
“I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.” ― Samwise Gamgee

Do we want to make more people happy for what we have had back then? If The Titanic will reappear in 3D why not as well The Lord of the Rings? I wish I live in the Shire. It reminds me home, whenever I hear The Shire Theme I feel safe. Living in New Zealand is my biggest dream. If I have money, I would buy a house there, in a remote area to live there to the end of my days. It would be a life in calm, peace and nature, the things I love the most. Watching or reading Lord of The Rings makes me want to do good, to safe the nature until we have still some trees, flowers, clear rivers and seas. Experiencing Tolkien's world makes me want to have a true, loyal friend who will protect me and will stay with me to the end. Oh my God, only writing that made me cry... I'm too emotional to live in this world. I don't fit there.
It's pretty incredible when the first 6 chords can convey such powerful emotions. This is my favorite piece shore wrote as you go through the spectrum of emotions from dejection to hope and the music conveys it so well.

"He wore a tall pointed grey hat, a long grey cloak, and a silver scarf. He had a long white beard and bushy eyebrows that stuck out beyond the brim of his hat." -The Lord of the Rings, "A Long-Expected Party"
This song contributes numerous feelings, feelings of sad, powerful emotional music, it goes from sad to powerful back to sad, but just at the right times as well.
Nice to see another appreciator of Ted Nasmith's amazing work. His illustrations - especially his landscapes and cityscapes - are among the most amazing and accurate illustrations of Tolkien's world.
people love fantasy stories like lotr because they like to escape from reality, they like to have a time in the world of fantasy to forget the real life, and they really end up wishing living in places like middle earth, hogwarts, OZ and many others but forget to live the real life.
Lord of the rings is a movie you won't see any thing like it, music, actors, dialog, pictures and views! 10/10, keep up with this and the hobbit series, Nice job!
I swear that every time I hear that soothing and calmed music it reminds me of My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. People will eat me alive for saying this, but they just resemble a bit, that's it.
well. ..you cant do nothing about this :D Horner made absolutely iconic flute-like melody and since then every such melody just sounds like Horner's music, even if it contains completely different notes :D
Nothing in this world, and I mean nothing, can truly beat the thrill of playing this music on your I-pod while running through woods and valleys, acting like you have embarked on an epic adventure. Its the simple things that make life worth while.
Just turned 15 listening to this while writing in Elvish. I love this so much and even the community around LoTR is so nice. Glad I came into this new chapter of my life listening to this masterpiece
A call for taking up the challenge of Life in all its suffering and joy, and in so doing awakening within one the most powerful force in the Universe: Love.
The LOTR was a meditation on the nature of mortality & immortality, the nature of good & evil, heroism, power, love & death. Peter Jackson’s movies showed enormous respect & reverence to Tolkien’s memory. Comparing Peter Jackson’s masterpiece to Amazon’s Rings of Power is like comparing Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel to a compost heap.
Iam 17 now. I grew up with these films. I will never forget them. They are the best ever made. I watched them so many times and I am still crying at the end guys :')
The best book I read.

Through Rohan over fen and field where long grass grows
The West Wind came walking, and about the walls it goes.
'What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me
tonight?
Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight?'
'I saw him ride over seven streams, over waters wide and grey;
I saw walk in empty lands, until he passed away
Into the shadows of the North. I saw him then no more.
The North Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor.'
'O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar,
But you came not from the empty lands where no men are.'
What is this from? The books? It's lovely. And who and when is it spoke?
I believe it is sung by Aragorn, though it might be Legolas, I don't remember to well. It's the first part of the lament for Boromir.

I like the inclusion of illustrations from The Silmarillion! Those stories go well with Shore's music.
Seriously...sends shivers down my spine! When the flute(?) comes in...almost makes me cry. Love it.
best film ever :')
Whoa.
It so EMOTIONAL. I love this Music. : )
Yeeah.
The movie is so great. Girls always cry while watching Titanic. I must cry when Frodo goes at the end :(
I didn't cry watching Titanic. Watching LOTR, however made me cry and feel sad for days.
If only the Titanic left for Valinor...
Nice to see another appreciator of Ted Nasmith's amazing work. His illustrations - especially his landscapes and cityscapes - are among the most amazing and accurate illustrations of Tolkien's world.
This song reminds me of Boromir... "Be at peace, son of Gondor." Man... he was my favorite character :(
I want every one of these pictures in frames covering every inch of my bedroom walls....#LotrNut Haha
people love fantasy stories like lotr because they like to escape from reality, they like to have a time in the world of fantasy to forget the real life, and they really end up wishing living in places like middle earth, hogwarts, OZ and many others but forget to live the real life.
real life sucks
You can argue all you want that there is something wrong with that, but you cannot argue that real life is any better.
Long life to the shire :)
Ah the memories..... thank you dad and grandad for introducing me to these franchises.
Lord of the rings is a movie you won't see any thing like it, music, actors, dialog, pictures and views! 10/10, keep up with this and the hobbit series, Nice job!
3:38 The best part you came here for
I JUST GOT THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD XD
I watched the extended edition... 9 hours
In three days
Jacob The Pirate Doge XD
Kryn The Dragon King I've spended the whole day watching the 3 episodes.
I swear that every time I hear that soothing and calmed music it reminds me of My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. People will eat me alive for saying this, but they just resemble a bit, that's it.
agreed.
well. ..you cant do nothing about this :D Horner made absolutely iconic flute-like melody and since then every such melody just sounds like Horner's music, even if it contains completely different notes :D
Don't worry I'm not a cannibal
But anyone can change
*cries a little bit* this song thooo
Whenever I see something related to LOTR takes me to my childhood and makes me smile unreasonably
Nothing in this world, and I mean nothing, can truly beat the thrill of playing this music on your I-pod while running through woods and valleys, acting like you have embarked on an epic adventure. Its the simple things that make life worth while.
3:38 You're Welcome
you came for this 3:38
Thanks!
Nope I came for this 0:00
yeah
yeah thanks :)
madacakuk I actually liked the beginning better
I don't care of wath you all think, it's actually better than game of throne :p
that's like your opinion man and instead of being a butthurt fangirl, I'll accept it instead of bash you for it
ok x) thanks i suppose !
But hey i love game of throne to don't worry ;)
way beyond comparison, this is too epic
GOT show suks but the books are good.
Just turned 15 listening to this while writing in Elvish. I love this so much and even the community around LoTR is so nice. Glad I came into this new chapter of my life listening to this masterpiece
The best books and movies that have and will ever be made.
I made sure that all of my remaining Orcs disliked this video.
Psh what ever, good luck in the Undying Lands.
MwahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
Yes I am Sauron JR MWAHAHAHAHA
NUUUUU!!!!!
Sonny Jaden Llave WHY THERE HAS TO BE ONE!!!!!
For Frodo 😌
It's a shame Ted Nasmith didn't work on the conceptual art for the movies. He was offered but declined due to a personal crisis at the time
I had to google who you were talking about.. but damn, that guy is talented. I like his take on Minas Tirith and the Nazgul.
Comparing Peter Jackson’s masterpiece to Amazon’s Rings of Power is like comparing Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel to a compost heap.
should i "thank god for Tolkien" or "thank god for Peter Jackson"?
Why not both :)
misterassassin1990 for this Howard shore will be the best option.
astik bhan
im gonna go for "thank god for Howard Shore". the energy of the movies came from his music.
Neither because god doesn't exist.
Dalton K Because it had to be me. Someone else, would have gotten it wrong...
Of all that you hold dear, On this good earth! I bid you stand, MEN OF THE WEST!!! ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!
He doesn't say attack.
you ruined it.
2:11 The part we all know.
Every sound of this music reminds me parts of the movie I loved it and I always will
Iam 17 now. I grew up with these films. I will never forget them. They are the best ever made. I watched them so many times and I am still crying at the end guys :')
