  • The anatomy of reflexes (the neurons, the wiring, afferent and efferent and interneurons, the spinal cord, lower motor neurons vs upper motor neurons, and that sort of thing). We'll look at muscle stretch (myotatic) reflexes and withdrawal (flexor) reflexes.
I noticed in this video that I refer to muscle stretch reflexes as tendon reflexes. This is because I work with medics a lot, and this is the term that gets used. Be aware that the stretch receptors are in the muscle, and not the tendon. The tendons tend to be the bit that gets tapped when testing reflexes though.

Sam I watched this on my long turbo in cold Bucks this morning and it was brilliant! Its pieced it all together for me now as I was really struggling to learn it. Thank you again for your fabulous videos keeping me sane with my studying in lock down. Lovely to see beautiful Wales as well. I can't wait to be back to cycle there soon.

    Interesting, so
    1) you can cram all those monosynaptic connections in the spinal cord?
    2) that seems like a lot repetitive connections especially when it comes to the hot stove reflex that is related to contraction and relaxing of muscles to the cutaneous layer. I guess that is priority to survival and how we got so far in evolution

You made good video easily understandable but on neuro specially the reflex part the researchers are not fully aware of its action and pathway how did they work beacuse without mind perceiving ideas how can our body respond to any response did they have complete knowledge but reflexes the scientists family

Bro as you mentioned in early part of the video that higher part of our brain doesn't involve in reflexes i on myself views and understanding didn't agree completely with you because both brain and spinal cord are part of central nervous system so how can we say that higher centers are not involved in reflexes
