Pros
Folding drone with GPS. Can return to home and land automatically on command, on loss of signal, or on low battery.
Available at many options at varied price levels, including with 1, 2, or 3 batteries, 720p or 1080p cameras, and 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz (802.11ac) WiFi versions.
Video is recorded directly to a microSD card to avoid WiFi frame dropping.
Camera includes 120 degree wide angle lens, and its view can be manually tilted up or down.
Uses large 7.4V 1200mah battery.

Cons
Cheaper 720p and base 1080p versions use 2.4Ghz WiFi, and can be flown using most phones. However, the 1080p 5G version uses 802.11ac WiFi. Not everyone has a phone capable of using this WiFi. It is very important to first verify that your phone can indeed use 802.11ac WiFi before purchasing the 1080p 5G version of this drone.
Maximum FPV range was relatively short for 5G WiFi at about 150 meters.
The compass kept losing calibration during flight causing toilet bowl effect (TBE). This required multiple compass calibrations during the review.
The waypoint feature was buggy. Google Maps would not show up. Setting waypoints was difficult as sometimes they would not take on the touchscreen.
The app crashed on me a couple times during the flights.
Advertised 16 minute flight time is very doubtful. More realistic flight time is around 9 to 10 minutes.

Note that 802.11ac is not required, as part of the spec the radio has to be able to do 802.11a/an as well (older/slower 5Ghz). So just need to make sure your phone has 5Ghz. Great review!

I wish that these test vids were more rigorous.
It would be better for you to get familiar with the drone before filming these tests. Sometimes you seem to just guess at how the drone is supposed to work when you press a button, and then you backtrack on your explanation if it doesn't, which leads to me to wonder: Did the drone perform as expected or not?
Other times you refer to things happening on your display as you talk to yourself. We can't see your display so the comments are meaningless.
When it 'fails' a test, -- way points, return to home -- I'm never sure if it's the drone or you didn't understand the function?
You should read the manual, familiarize yourself with the routines and THEN show us the drone in action, clearly explaining what is SUPPOSED to happen and what DID happen.

I am not sure if you know this but people make videos out of the kindness of their hearts not because they are forced or required to fully explain to viewers how to operate a drone. He was nice enough to explain most of it or some of it so you have no right to complain about free information. If you were paying him to explain it to you then I can see your point but you are not paying him. You are getting this info for free so take what you can get. Beggars have no right to be choosy. If you are not satisfied with the info you got from this video then download the free read manual and read it. You can get it free online (download). @@StartToFinishPodcastingTV I didn't attack him personally so calm down. The title of the video is Flight Test "REVIEW". I don't think you understand the point of a 'review'. Reviews of anything -- books, movies, software, etc -- are meant to give guidance as to whether it's worthwhile to investigate in more depth... such a downloading and reading the manual. That's the point of a review.
If he doesn't know the why and hows of the drone, then the review is meaningless. If he wants subscribers, or people to return to his channel, his process needs work and, hence, my feedback.
Quick question, do you think Banggood is sending you drones that have been “pre-inspected “ to insure they work correctly and don’t prove to be duds? I ask because I have had horrible luck with more than one drone from them and it seems every drone you review tends to work, sometimes poorly, but works nonetheless. Last two I got were completely non-functional and Banggood didn’t publish the negative review. The more I hunt for reviews the worse the reputation gets. I just figured I would ask because your reviews are so thorough and helpful, but now I wonder if I can trust them. Thoughts?

This is my first drone. This video was Exceptionally helpful in getting me started. Heck, because of this I ordered more batteries for this little drone. With that in mind, can you do an instructional video on the usage of the app you're using? The app that the drone pointed me to is useless. Maybe show how to use waypoints, or some of the other features and functions within the app?

how far away can this drone fly from your destination?
Question 1: At the 10:03 mark of this video. Do I have to do this type of calibration every time I lend it or just when I turn it off? or change the battery?
Question 2: at the 15:19 mark of the video you said holding down the throttle will stop the motor. Does both (Left and Right) throttles have to be held down or just the Left throttle?
Question 3: Also, 25:13 Will it stay stable like that automatically as long as you calibrate it?
Question 4: What button did you push for "Follow Me"?
Question 5: How do you get out of "Follow Me" mode?
Question 6: How to you set up a Way point? I couldnt see what you were doing on your app or on the controller to do the way point.
Question 7: You took a picture with the App. What button do you use on the controller to 1. take a picture 2. record video?
Is there a setting in the app that tells the drone to save all recordings and phots on the SD Card? I every time I record a video and take a photo on the drone it saves it to me phone. Is there a setting in the app that I can set to save all the photos and videos to the SD Card?
I am thinking about getting a Drone. Do you think GPS is the better choice and if so which model do you think is a good one but not expensive?

Hello and thank you for the review! after seeing many videos i wonder if buying a cameraless drone and sticking to it my sports cam that shoots 1080p (same quality as any of these drone cams) would be a good investment! the cam is abt 40 grams and should be okay flying on a drone....I can also control the cam via phone app. What are your thoughts? thank you!

you state that 5.7ghz is long range technically speaking 2.4 ghz has more signal strength at further distances , 5.7ghz is a more robust signal data wise or bandwidth wise but does not go far at all the drop off compared to 2.4 ghz is significant
The problem is the drone's 2.4Ghz WiFi signal operates on the same frequency as the drone's 2.4Ghz RC controller. Hence they interfere with each other causing a reduction in possible range. That's why a 5Ghz WiFi signal can be received farther with this drone as there is no signal interfence with the drone's controller.

I know this is an older video, but I just watched it now. Do you know if this camera in the 5G 1080p with GPS version will work with a Galaxy 7s cellphone? I have heard people say it will, others say it will not. Any input? Thanks, enjoyed the video.
It should, unless you live in Europe. Then it's uncertain. Samsung phones will automatically block some WiFi channels depending on country frequency restrictions.

My brother just got his yesterday. He's picking up 13 sat's, the video and app work. But his front lights don't come on and the props don't respond at all. Anyone have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. It's his first drone and I'd like to encourage him a bit. Does he need to return it?

Yep. 16 minutes might be possible in hover only (no movement).

Unfortunately no. You will need a phone with 802.11ac WiFi capability to use this drone.
no. you need a 5g phone . however you can still do photos and video, by installing an s.d card

Question, I’m new to drones but was wondering, if you were standing next to a large row of trees to your south let’s say the trees were 100 foot tall and you flew over them and then went back down to 25 feet and kept heading south if the unit were to run low on batteries and want to return would it know about the trees on the way back and go over top of them?

What is a difference between drone E511S and E511 according to technical possibility (which one is better)??

If you purchased the 5G 1080p version, you will need a phone with 802.11ac WiFi capability in order to view and connect to the WiFi.
Hi- I just bought this drone. I'm having problems getting the videos to my macbook. I'm using a class 10 micro sd, however the videos I take never show up on the disk. Any advice?
Make sure that the card you are using is 32GB or less. Aso, always remember to stop the video recording before turning off the drone. If you forget, the write process will be interrupted, and the video file will be corrupted and unusable.

No you can't change that in the settings. But you can correct fish-eye with many video editors. That works pretty good.

Nee kan niet. Wel met veel video editors. En dat lukt best goed. Duurt alleen even. Natuurlijk kun je dan meteen andere bewerking en filters toepassen zoals bijv. stabiliseren of meer kleur geven. Effe oefenen met zo'n programma.

You could fly it, but you would not be able to record or view video from the camera. Follow me feature would not work either.

Make sure your memory card is 32GB or smaller. Also, consider trying another memory card.

Also remember to stop the video recording before turning off the drone. You do this by pressing the video recording button one more time. If you forget to stop the recording before unpowering the drone, the video file will be corrupted and unviewable.

Yes. But if you are still having problems, consider formatting the card in your computer. Try FAT32 format.

How many satellites were you receiving? See the discussion at 9:16. Also, have you successfully completed the compass calibration as shown at 10:04? And as shown at 11:48, have you first started the motors by moving and holding both sticks downward and outward?
Judging by your GPS coordinates, weren't you a little close to the Inyokern and China Lake airports?
Nope. Just outside 5 miles.
And in case you're wondering, the 5 miles is measured from the published location of the field (and not the edges of its runways) For KNID it's published location is 35.6857004 -117.6921095 www.airnav.com/airport/KNID

I got one of these. The SD card is in but it doesnt like to record to that. It wont save videos or iamges to the card. It does take videos and photos if i use the app but it saves it to my phone. I get choppy video but i would like to get the media on the card and not my phone.
The card must be less than 32 GB.

I would consider the JJRC X11 if I were you. I have one and it's a great drone in my opinion. It's stable, easy to fly and takes 2K photos and videos.

First turn on the drone and place it on a flat and level surface. Next, open your phone's WiFi settings, and look for the drone's WiFi signal. Connect to this signal the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi (no password needed). Next, open the LW FPV app to view the video. Maybe someone on here can help I bought the 511s came sat and it only records vids on my micro sd I can watch it on my phone and the pics show up on my phone and app but no vids is there a setting in the app perhaps

only problem with this drone is. if it makes contact ,with ANYTHING or lands in slightly long grass the motors die imediately replaced 2 arms already by stripping it down and soldering new arms on it . id recommend paying slightly more .as will be cheaper in the long run for example the bugs 5w

The problem with following in a ski trail is that it will maintain its altitude while following. Thus when you get to the bottom of the hill, it will be way up there.

I really love your reviews! They helped me a lot to decide on which drone to buy. Unfortunately I have skipped the intro where you explained why one should buy the 5 GHz version and bought 2,4 :-D
Unfortenatelly I am facing many problems when starting to use the drone: When I used the controller outside in the greens, there was a lag between pushing the joystick and the reaction of the drone of about 2 seconds. Even worse, it only had a range of about 5 meters for reaction, but automatically stopped when it lost signal. Controlling it with the app didn't work at all l, the joystick wouldnt react at all, although I could get live view and do fotos. Although a microSD was installed, I wasn't able to take any video. And finally the worst: at the end I wasn't able to fly the drone in any direction or rotation at all. With a new battery pack being installed, it could be lifted (manually or automatically) but the joysticks wouldn't work.... Given the number of problems I am facing, I wonder if it is really me and my lack of knowledge or the drone itself... I had much less problems flying a cheap $25 drone...
It would be wonderful if you or anybody else could get me a hint on what is wrong ...
Also I am having problems to load the batteries, tried two different chargers but the battery won't load, green blinking light would stay there forever end ever...

Attention !!! The eachine e511s drone is defective. Two front propellers will fail very fast. Look up reviews. The motor gear is made out of some cheap pot metal; the center of gear will wear down very fast ; thus preventing the motor to engage with the prop gear. Plan on buying extra front props with motors .

Forget about this.. Xiaomi Fimi a3 if you are ona budget, or get a used or refurbished DJI, any DJI would beat this. Enough of these cheap quads, rather than helping this hobby get better I think they are killing it.. They are just easy money makers for Chinese guys..
I agree Fimi is a much better drone. But you need a driver license. And oh, it is from China too.
DJI is better yeah, but also from China... But a home built drone will beat all if you want to learn how these things work along the way.
