The hard part is trying to see if it actually makes a difference on whether the player would have been out or not. In this instance, he was CLEARLY in possession of the ball BEFORE the obstruction/contact made, thereby it doesn't fall under obstruction anymore. This is a horrible call and VERY bad interpretation of the rule, especially given that the fielder was making every attempt to give a clear path to the bag, and there WAS still clear paths to the bag, he simply chose to slide on the side of the bag where the fielder was.
      Watch the base runners foot as he's close to contact. It moves into the fielder on purpose to force the call. There was plenty of space to slide clean to the bag, he chose to do otherwise.

      @@Silence_Duder_Gooder that's just not even true lmao. if bohm was called out, it would have been one out with marsh on first. despite that, the pitcher could've struck the next batter out, popped him up, walked him leading to a force at any base, executed a double play, the third baseman could've played the grounder better and thrown bohm out at home, etc. The point is there's endless possibilities of what could have happened, but what did happen didn't affect the score of the game or the dodgers' ability to make defensive plays. also that didn't force the dodgers to give up three runs up to that point.

    • @Silence_Duder_Gooder
      @Silence_Duder_Gooder 3 месяца назад

      @@jakesevere9165, yeah, you're right, I got that outs thing wrong. I'm the guy who "liked" your post.
      But in my defense, where it could have made a difference is how pitches got thrown in a one-out situation. Baseball is full of these intrinsic variables that change depending on small things like outs.
      It's actually an unknowable situation, really. Because even if the Dodgers get out of that jam, they could have still blown it with that shaky bullpen.
      But hey, you guys made a bunch of great defensive plays as well, and a couple of bad, or tough ones, rather, which led to our early runs as well.
      Nevertheless, hey, good game, congratulations on winning this series and the season series.
