- If you have been watching Justin Medeiros' RUclips channel, you've likely seen that he has been training for a powerlifting competition. Medeiros, the two-time CrossFit Games Champion, competed in the USAPL Holiday Hoist where he finished in 2nd place in his category, the Men's Raw Open 90kg division.
Medeiros went 8-for-9 on the night with his only miss coming from a 2-1 judgment call on his second deadlift attempt. Medeiros ended up with a 642.5kg total.
His best lifts were:
Squat: 232.5kg (512.6 lbs)
Bench Press: 137.5kg (303.1 lbs)
Deadlift: 272.5kg (600.8 lbs) Спорт
That 512lb squat looked like there was only some moderate effort. I mean he made it look easy. That is next level beast mode considering it's his first meet. Keep it up
Nah that was close to his limit. He slowed right down in the middle portion which is where you always fail. Probably an rpe9 lift that.
Pretty damn impressive IMO. That's a great total for a first powerlifting meet! Wonder if he will do this again??
That’s awesome, good for him. Those are decent numbers as well.
512 Squat is godlike (powered by those massive quads)
Bench Press is abysmal, but a great fight.
Deadlift is great. If he opened at 580-590 he likely hits the first 600 and then can go for 610-620 on the 3rd.
Overall great total. Clearly leaving a lot on the table with the bench. This shows how much Crossfit rewards raw lower body strength and kips it's way to CrossFit Championships (not a dig at Justin)
Should of played that clip of you saying he can’t squat 5 can’t bench 3 and can’t dead 6 over the top of this 😂
Phill Toon just squated 750 for 2 reps
@@christianvegafit Phil toons a joke
@@George-C978 still squats 750
Hasn't Justins raw pressing strength always been horendous? Saved in workouts by his shoulder mobility making him super efficient.
Impressive Justin, awesome!! Congrats
Great work
Pretty cool. Congrats
And then he invited everyone who finished ahead of him to go out for a Murph. Seriously though, that was damn impressive. 500 lb squat, 300 lb bench press, and 600 lb deadlift in meet legal conditions when this isn't his full-time athletic endeavor? Outstanding. I am wondering if we will see him try to eclipse the best efforts at squat or deadlift immediately followed by a mile run.
Then just go to a crossfit event dummy...
Usapl: we won't be testing today.
Justin quads are huge
Damn impressive and he's incredibly brave to compete in a sport that isn't his main calling.
👏👏👏
What was the gap in days between the Powerlifting Event and the Buttery Bros Game?
Bout a month
Red Plates more dates!
lol go to a powerlifting meet and see the fittest man in the world competing. Pretty cool.
Strength is such a fun thing. I can bench his squat, but he can run laps around me like I was standing still 😂
You can bench 500 💀
@@Daniel-li6guyes. I’m one of the top 10 -140kg tested powerlifters in the world this year.
Sure you can bench his squat…you also have 50kg on him
dang congrats @@jameshoffman5409
@@Mfos2435and? Never said I didn’t.
You just feel like commenting to just comment or? Makes no sense lol
Impressive for being a crossfitter 😝 No really, super impressive lifts! 💪🏼
What do the lit up circles mean after DL?
Those are the calls from the 3 judges.
I have always said I lifted 140kg BP. But not with that protocol.
That's pretty damn impressive. Interesting that a guy who squats high bar and close stance deadlifts sumo.
Both bias quads a bit more. I'd bet that's why
Sumo shouldn’t be legal in competition. Just my opinion
What was his overall placing ?
2nd out of 5
@@thebarbellspinI just made a half joking comment about how he might have invited everyone who placed ahead of him to go for a Murph, but I guess that would only be a two-man race.
Lol. I should start powerlifting 😅
Has his quads always been that huge?
yes he came out of the womb like that
@@bigguy4u989sonogram showed triplets, but when the big day came, first one thigh emerged, then the other, then the rest of him.
What does he weigh?
He was in the 90kgs/200LBS weight class
Ahhhhh….., what?!!! 😮
how did that second deadlift get a white from the front 🤣
Isn't that the hardest spot to judge whether his shoulders went back at the top?

This proves strength makes you better at CrossFit not that CrossFit makes you strong.
Squat and Deadlift are badass. Bench is average at a good high school 🏈 team weight room
The pause (and no bounce) required at the bottom of a powerlifting bench changes the game.
If you bounce the weight like high schoolers, you can add 40-50lbs easy. So this isn’t accurate.
Nice job Justin 😅🎉🎉🎉
@@thebarbellspinit really doesn’t though. You should be able to hold your stretch reflex for up to 4 seconds. Especially if he’s been doing dynamic work which I’m sure he has
My comment above covers it. I have BP 140kg at 80kg BW. Never have been strong or said so but the protocol seen here is a game changer. Plus I had my back flat on a bench.
yet I'm still going to have to see videos of people making fun of Cross fitters and butterfly pullups. Meanwhile they are placing in competitive weightlifting, powerlifting, ironman, Olympic events, etc.
Ugh. A sumo deadlift? Who taught him that? His girlfriend?
Yeah you try lifting a refrigerator conventional style and get back to me
@@nikitadavid143 No one lifts a refridgerator conventional style or sumo style. You put a hand truck under it, tilt it back, balance it on the truck, and roll it. What's your point?
Unless you can pull sumo heavier than him maybe pipe down you pleb
what a special person you are@@nikitadavid143
Apparently, it gives him the most weight with legal form under the federation. Maybe you can offer him good money to max conventional for your amusement.
Written "raw" but isn't he wearing a suit ? Nice squat form tho !
It’s just a singlet.
Wait,, I was told Crossfiters are weak, no form etc etc... how is this possible 😂
We make fun of them because they're r3tarded, kipping pull up, stupid, handstand push ups, stupid, have you seen them on bikes, never seen such awkward humans doing something they're somewhat shit at doing. They compromise good form for reps because that shit sells to random idiots that think they're the fittest in earth because they're in the cult.
Solid lifts. Natty or not though? He looks to be a lil bit o juice.
Ladies and gentleman we found him. The crossfitter who is actually using form, striving to be better. I know crossfitters who have been "working out" for like 10 years, still haven't done a single pull up.
Funny I’m a garage lifter and literally out total this guy lmfao
Cool story man what’s your Olympic lifting total!? What’s your 5km time? What high level gymnastic skills do you have? He is an elite CrossFitter and one of the best in the world at kt so obviously training Just sbd like you probably only would is not a luxury he has
what your weight? I think your weight 120+ kg, so your results are not impressive at all. Also he is tested athlete.
Like, that is great for you, but can you total it in a meet for this federation under the same weight class? And afterwards, how would you do in the CrossFit games?
