  • If you have been watching Justin Medeiros' RUclips channel, you've likely seen that he has been training for a powerlifting competition. Medeiros, the two-time CrossFit Games Champion, competed in the USAPL Holiday Hoist where he finished in 2nd place in his category, the Men's Raw Open 90kg division.
Medeiros went 8-for-9 on the night with his only miss coming from a 2-1 judgment call on his second deadlift attempt. Medeiros ended up with a 642.5kg total.
    His best lifts were:
    Squat: 232.5kg (512.6 lbs)
    Bench Press: 137.5kg (303.1 lbs)
    Deadlift: 272.5kg (600.8 lbs)

That 512lb squat looked like there was only some moderate effort. I mean he made it look easy. That is next level beast mode considering it's his first meet. Keep it up

Nah that was close to his limit. He slowed right down in the middle portion which is where you always fail. Probably an rpe9 lift that.

Pretty damn impressive IMO. That's a great total for a first powerlifting meet! Wonder if he will do this again??

512 Squat is godlike (powered by those massive quads)
Bench Press is abysmal, but a great fight.
Deadlift is great. If he opened at 580-590 he likely hits the first 600 and then can go for 610-620 on the 3rd.
Overall great total. Clearly leaving a lot on the table with the bench. This shows how much Crossfit rewards raw lower body strength and kips it's way to CrossFit Championships (not a dig at Justin)

And then he invited everyone who finished ahead of him to go out for a Murph. Seriously though, that was damn impressive. 500 lb squat, 300 lb bench press, and 600 lb deadlift in meet legal conditions when this isn't his full-time athletic endeavor? Outstanding. I am wondering if we will see him try to eclipse the best efforts at squat or deadlift immediately followed by a mile run.
