    Question for all in the comments, best answers will be featured next video - What would happen if JR Centrals crew were swapped into Amtrak? What if Amtrak's were swapped into JR Central?
    UPDATE: To the unsung heroes who translated the subtitles of this video to Japanese - ありがとうございました! I can't wait to return soon!

    • @kunjufari
      @kunjufari 6 лет назад +14

      What might happen would be a classic case of culture shock. On the one hand, JR Central's crew would be shocked and dismayed by the apparent lack of efficiency, punctuality, and the ongoing delays in maintaining the all important infrastructure that makes up both the Northeast Corridor and Pennsylvania's Keystone Corridor. Not to mention having to beg for sufficient funding from a dysfunctional Congress, oversight from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and lack of empathy and support from various presidential administrations from Nixon's all the way to Trump's. Additionally, Amtrak's staff members would experience difficulty not only with the language barrier, but would have to adjust their mindsets to thinking and doing everything Japanese.

    • @kunjufari
      @kunjufari 6 лет назад +9

      Come to think of it, this could be the basis for a documentary involving one JR Central staff member switching places with that person's Amtrak counterpart and see how each one adjusts, anywhere from 6 months to a year.

    the best thing about shinkansen is... if you miss a shinkansen train, then another one comes in several minutes and you can get aboard the train. that is very, very different from airplanes. 乗り遅れてもすぐ次が来て自由席に座れる気軽さは、飛行機とは比べ物にならないほど心の余裕になる。

      1920年と1922年に765人のポーランドの孤児を救ってくれてどうもありがとうございました。 シベリアで孤児の救助にあたったのは日本陸軍と日本赤十字社でした。日本が救った最年少の孤児は2歳の子供でした。子供は死んだ母親のそばで泣いていた。 日本はすぐに孤児を救った。このポーランド孤児765人を救うのに日本軍は兵力7万3000人と戦費10億円と投じ約3000人以上の戦死者を出しました。その結果ポーランドの子供達は救われました。2018年、ワルシャワ郊外に日本による救援にちなんだ「ポーランド・シベリア孤児記念小学校」が完成しました。その校旗には、桜の花と「日の丸」が描かれています。 日本に感謝します。

    Every time I am asked about my experience of Japanese trains, I describe what I saw at Kyoto:
    (I don't remember exact times) Our train was scheduled for 18:14 from Kyoto to Tokyo. 18:06 train arrived to the station, 1000+ passengers exited, cleanup crew went trough the whole train, cleaning the train and turning the seats around, train conductor walked from one side of train to the other, 1000+ passengers boarded the train. 18:14:20 we were sitting in clean, comfy seats and leaving the station. In less than 10 minutes they cleaned and turned the train around. We arrived to Tokyo ~2,5h later including 9 stops on the way. Tokyo is ~450km from Kyoto. It's insane.

    The shinkansen is great and all, but what really sets Japan apart for me is the rail network itself. The shinkansen is actually useful because there is heavy rail lines that connect to neighborhoods and destinations, covering that important "last mile." Until the US creates those kinds of networks, HSR will never be as effective.

      I think there is a greater economic difficulty with adopting shinkansen in America due to the sheer amount of infrastructure needed to support transport over the much larger land mass.

    It is checked very well and is a splendid video.
    This video can get every information from information before the Shinkansen begins service to the information of the current examination vehicle.
    I often watched the video about the railroad in RUclips, but have not watched the video which I gave a detailed explanation about to here. I was impressed.
    In addition, I am glad at all of this video because I think that information reaches more people because English is spoken.
