Andrew York a great person, a great soul of light! God bless you my friend, and may your music always be this blessing that makes our soul shine. Thank you very much.🙏🙏🙏😍🙏
Being a Detroiter it was such a joy to hear Scott’s story. Always wondered how a classical talent came out of such a rock based town. Earl Klugh also a favorite.
Great interview. Quick remembrance here: Late 90's I guess. Time has a way of getting away form me. John, William, Scott and Andrew. They had chemistry those 4. Played a song(think it was called "On all Fours"). had the audience in the palm of their hand. Whole concert was perfect. Everyone at the church talked to the LAGQ. The way a concert should be. If you have a chance to get The Complete Guitar Works Joaquin Rodrigo, you must get it. This cat is the Gold Standard. So much power, joy, and expression in his playing. What a treasure!
The avocado story was priceless! Unfortunately I haven’t played guitar since my second child was born ( I need more than 24 hours in a day!), but I still remember the joy I had playing the Frog Galliard. Thank you Andrew and LAGQ for being great musicians AND human beings.
Pumping Nylon and Andrew's "easier" pieces formed the backbone of my guitar education, and continue to bring me inspiration. Great interview. Greetings from Australia!
What a joyous 25 minutes - so enjoyed that conversation. Two guys with an amazing history behind them and new paths yet to forge. I have to pinch myself to think I've spent some time with you both! The greatest gift you both give is your inspiration. Thank you.
Tennant's solo version of Tadic's "Walk Dance" on LAGQ's Air & Ground (which also features York's "Lotus Eaters") is still shockingly good to me. There's a York/Tennant duet on York's "Into Dark" album that's impressive. "Evening Dance" I think it was called. I remember discovering an Irish music record Anisa Angarola did once, and I have one she did with LAGQ where they did a few pieces they later redid with York. I wonder what she's doing now. I saw York in concert in Dublin once but missed a chance to see LAGQ (with Grief) live in Dublin around same time. At least I have the LAGQ Live dvd (with York) and someone gave me a programme, signed by the quartet.
Thank you Andrew for inviting Scott here. this is an amazing message for your followers who care about these top influencers in this industry. Hope maybe next time see your content in a cafe with your performance about L’Ultimo Caffe Insieme or other pieces played by you and Scott.
Thank you Andrew for pulling this together. I enjoy you both and appreciate your talents and contribution to the classical guitar players and admires. Wish you both many more years of playing and entertaining the world.
One day I looked up “easy classical guitar piece” I stumbled upon “Snowflight”, although it’s not exactly easy at least not for me but doable. What is amazing is it sound extremely difficult. Being a fan of Julian Bream I should have known you then, I’m glad I discovered you and couldn’t be more thankful. Novice classical guitar enthusiast and classical music fan from Houston Tx. Ronald. Very enjoyable conversation!! Don't know why I didn't realize you were part of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Listened to your group when played on classical KUSC radio, while driving and at work. Mentioning the Romeros brought back memories from my 20+ years of residing in Escondido. The Romeros had/still have(?) a compound in Del Mar and would on occasion play at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. They would bring the whole family to perform. Thank you for an entertaining chat with 'masters of the art' and stirring old, forgotten memories.........
This was so much fun! Thanks for sharing this conversation. It doesn't seem possible that the Wyoming camp was nearly 20 years ago. But my daughter was about to start kindergarten that summer and she now holds a Bachelors of Music.
Very nice. I recall seeing both of you perform with the LAGQ many years ago, and recall seeing you, Andrew, at the Cedar in Minneapolis at about the time you released After Dark. (A terrific album, btw.) I even have a copy of Pumping Nylon somewhere in my archives. Thank you for this. Cheers.
Avocados, Gypsies, and everything in between - those are some great stories! My take on _Pumping Nylon_, fwiw: It's clear, concise, easy to follow, as enjoyable to read as any guitar technique book could be, and not overloaded with every possible permutation of every possible exercise. I tell my students: if you can only afford one book on guitar technique, let it be this one. Thanks for this - I enjoyed it very much!
Andrew York a great person, a great soul of light! God bless you my friend, and may your music always be this blessing that makes our soul shine. Thank you very much.🙏🙏🙏😍🙏

Lovely! Thank you, lads!
Thank you very much, Michael!
First thing Scott does is through ou the manual - Then he goes on to write the best one in the market.
Yeah - Pretty righteous, that.
This is really great, thank you!
My thanks to you for watching, Brad!
Very enjoyable! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, Steve!
You guys need to keep this format going.
Will do

Dear Andrew
will you please let me add Persian subtitles to this and share it on my Instagram page, PLEASE !!!
🥺
Disappointed Scott didn't mention his time with Joe Fava as his mentor while in Detroit.
