- The snowstorm the previous evening dumped 12-15 inches on the Harrisburg Line with drifts over 2 feet. Once I got plowed out, it was a perfect day to head out and catch some trains in the white-out conditions.
All trains, 2-06-10:
I1M with some good power, hits a small patch of snow.
NS D8-40CW 8349 Conrail Quality
NS SD70 2562
212 hits a drift and sprays it all over the place.
NS D9-40CW 9594
NS ES40DC 7638
NS D9-40CW 9695
20G glides on the snow.
NS D9-40CW 9216
NS D9-40CW 9001
20E gives lots of throttle and turbo whine.
NS SD70M 2643
214 also knocks some snow to the side.
NS SD70M-2 2678
NS D9-40CW 9016
19G burrrrrr!
NS D9-40CW 9630
NS D9-40CW 9107
H68 with a Reading and Northern engine.
NS SD40-2 3353
NS SD40-2 3338
NS SD60M 6796
RBMN SD50M 5049
Trains+snow=awesome videos.
Great Job Eric, looks like PA got quite the dumping of snow this season...
These are just the most beautiful train videos that I have seen! Snow and true Americana railroading, great job Eric. 5/5 and fave.
simply great work!!!!!! how trains work through the snow!!!!! 5/5
Yes I would, which is why I walked and waded through a quarter-mile of knee deep snow to get 20G and 33A today, lol! My boots and jeans are soaked!
They are both the Harrisburg Line, this one being the NS and that one being the Amtrak. The Reading Line refers to the track from Reading, PA to Bethlehem, PA.
Super Aufnahmen Danke für die schöne bilder you a good 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥
Like that horn on the second train!!!!
Those are some of the nicest Leslie's I've erg heard
Nice catch on 212. I love seeing him on the Piedmont!
It's available online, google it. I purchased it online, but I'm sure it may be available in stores.
212 has a ditchlight out. Great quality again, and nice catches.
Yes, and yes! Haha. Rarely do people ask me why I'm filming trains, but it happens. Actually most people in town here know me as the "video kid" and think it's cool that I take videos of trains, haha.
like the snow...live near the main line in hummelstown....keep them coming...
thank you
You really will go in anything to catch something, won't you? lol Excellent Job once again Eric
Awesome snow shots!
Good idea haha! But um, do you think I could keep the camera steady at 45-50 MPH? Lol.
Again, great vid! I love snow shots! I seen the Reading & Northern SD50M at Enola on Sunday when I was out, I posted a pic of it on my Facebook page. Nice job Eric, I bet you were frozen!
Great video, Eric. Hope your not all the way snowed in! Be safe out there!
Dude the Pittsburgh summit between Harrisburg and Pitt got 30 inches!!!!!!!! Man I wish I was there!!
Nice compilation -- watching as snow is predicted for Christmas 2010.
nice catches here in Saint Louis we got about an inch of snow but we were suposed to get 3-5 inches
We shot video in Richland PA in 1997, at this same location. But I don't believe this is called "the Harrisburg Line"- that honor goes to the former Pennsylvania line a few miles to the South. This is former Reading trackage, I believe it is called the Reading Main Line.
just love it. This is an awsome video
No, what was insane was a 9 locomotive 33A, lol!
Great location! Great video!
So Awsome!!!! You have great vids. Love those horses.
Jeez, thats insane
That is a Leslie RS-3L, most ex-Conrail locomotives have these.
I use a Canon HG20. Canon has had newer models since the HG20 came out, but the HG20 is definitely good value.
Did anyone else notice the conductor waving his papers in the window at 2:58? I love when they do that lol
Holy hell, no wonder 33A is the best train in PA!
Awesome again!!
great video
NICE ! Awesome Job Eric!
Great video Eric, ill be out this week as we are going to get another foot down on the eastern part of the reading line, i hope to get good video, it sucks cuz all i have is a digital camera, do you have any recommendations on a video camera?
:) yeah big Snowball vs Train wummms very good video lG from Horst germany west 5 Stars very good Quality
That's a lot of snow! I heard D.C. was getting around 20 inches.
Interesting. Never seen a train full of trailers before...
AWESOME!!!!!!
like the snow...live near the main line in hummelstown....keep them coming...wondering if have ever seen a emd leaser on the line?
Great Job!!! Love the vid its been fav. 5*'s
Awesome video man. We got zero snow in ny. And Zero snow in northern jersey. =(
Well edited!
Eric, how long were you out there? and what did you wear out there! geez nice shots!
5:22 Is the first time I've seen you pan Penn.
@o00o00ozy you could use a device called a steady cam that holds the camera and makes it feel weightless. It was first invented to allow camera men to run and follow something and keep the shot still. so its acting as the cameras suspention and shocks.
How many locomotives are in Conrail paint still? I thought they were all repainted.
See the turkey in the background doing donuts at 0:50-0:57?
Did the 9594 have a broken ditch light on the fireman's side? I thought that was due to the snow. Guess not.

Engine 9594, that is the first I've seen with a lower working flashing headlight.
Dont you notice the giant icicles hanging off the frame of the locos it looks strange
Ah i miss the 3353 and 3338
Nope! Snow blowers work wonders, thanks haha.
@o00o00ozy you could get a device called the steady cam that allows you to run and keep the camera steady
That, Rich, is a Leslie RS5T, but I don't know if it's an RS5T-RF or an RS5T-RRO.
hey dude nice video you made but the video is extremely cool
Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0.
@o00o00ozy dude this is the best video of the ns trains with conrail
Hi,I was wondering what editing program you use for your hi definition videos?
@csxketh1 parts around there set a record... small town north of D.C got 38.3"
how did the RBMN get in the consist!?!?
we couldn't get out of our driveway to see trains because the snow plow would dump moor snow on the car. Making it impossible to get out
Look at the side of the engines theres icicles all over them
you need a snowmobile with a tripod and do some pacing shots LOL.
is the program easy to find?
that first horn is badass, what model is it?
That is a D8-40CW. Sadly it retired
where was 5049 headed?
Are there still these patched Conrails around?
+River Line Railfan (Holden) 2
Enola Diesel.
@49MCURLL49 i ment the Harrisburg Line
Mother nature can bring it on, but the railroaders will go through Hell and High water in attempt to keep their trains moving.
tarmac2001 yes
Leslie RS3L
man u can find anything on youtube
