I served in the US Army and was stationed in Phu Bai (which is northwest of DaNang) from 1970-72. I returned to Vietnam in January 2020 and stayed in DaNang. It was a completely different and prosperous country. I drove to the place where I was stationed and where some of the heaviest fighting of the war during the 1972 Easter Offensive occurred. 50 years later. Upon my return I saw complete regrowth from the devastation caused by the war, and it filled me with happiness. When I was in DaNang in 2020 it was just at the beginning of COVID and from your video it appears that COVID halted a lot of the building. Great video Gabi, keep it up, you do good work…

A lot of digital nomads loved living in Da Nang because it's a modern city by the beach. I think many want to come back, but Vietnam is only allowing 30 day visas (probably to keep people like them out as they were working there illegally and not paying taxes).
Yes I heard about that. They “kicked them out” in a harsh way. For sure Da Nang is appealing for westerner. But their big strength is the Asian market.
@@ridewithgabi I don't necessarily agree it's harsh. They were there mooching off the system and were lucky to get a reprieve for a year during covid. Hi Gabi, thanks for the great video about Da Nang. I first went there in 2014 and it seems in such a short space of time there's been so much development. Unfortunately I only see a concrete jungle now next to a strip of sand. It seems to be the Vietnamese formula; a big highway next to the beach with a multitude of high rise buildings on the other side. Nha Trang is the same. The Vietnamese are into mass tourism and that's really what's going on in Da Nang. The reason why the beachside is so busy early in the morning is because all the Vietnamese go swimming before they go to work. It's the same story in the evening, they hit the beach enmasse at around 6 pm, once the heats gone out of the day. To get away from the crowds I usually go down to Non Nuoc Beach. Safe travels.
I went to Danang for travel in 2019, the scenery in the vlog is familiar to me. Danang is a beautiful city, the coastal city always charming. I enjoy a cozy holiday here, hope travel again in future!

@@hungcuongnguyen293 Ah, Jesus, why are you being like that? He’s just saying what he thinks about our country. Just try not to take things too personally.
So they don't have a big Western mall with all the major brands and such like in the bigger cities? Interesting. BTW, I don't understand the obsession people have over Dubai. A soulless concrete jungle that is offensive to the senses in every way. No real character or history.
It’s super interesting, if you go to a major Vietnamese Mall such as Vincom, you will not find a single technology shop. Zero. And this is the same for Vincom Ho Chi Min. You have to go to an area of the city where they have dedicated phone and technology shops. But there I could just find 2 camera shops, and only one had the gopro (but no batteries) Being used to the abundance of technology in Thailand, I was just so surprised.
Dubai is not just a concrete jungle. The old Dubai is quite charming with lots of markets, food and traditional Arabian culture . You’re just judging a city by perception instead of understanding it. This is the same as westerners saying Hanoi is old and small because all they know is the old quarter
You can find tech related things at The Gioi Di Dong which is a Vietnamese chain selling tech. If they don’t have it in physical store they will have it online
I'm glad to see you back doing what you do best that is reviewing four and five star hotels, but so sad to see Da Nang evolve into a generic tourist trap for Chinese tourists. It is unfortunate you didn't meet your friend in Hanoi and take the train up to Sa Pa. Now that would have been interesting.

Không hề nhé. Bạn được phép mang và sử dụng tại Việt Nam. Không có gì khó khăn
I think Vietnam is going to be veryyyy popular...the goregouse country, the beautyful beaches and the warm climate and stunning envoirnement! And of course because of the smiling Vietnamese people! A lot of millionaires/billionaires everywhere on the planet (like the Africans, Russians, Arabs, Chinese, and from the States also from Europe, will gladly invest in Vietnam! So that is an good reason to assume this Country is going to be like Dubai or perhaps more popular!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗🌟🌟🌟🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
I would call Vietnam...the land of Charm and Smile!
Not to mention the deliciouse food of course😅😅.....
Great Effort....thanks!
It will boom in the next few years but there is lack of space if they over do it they will loose it beauty
O dear, so sorry for your GoPro 8 😓

People go to work early in Vn so it's busy

Bạn nên đến vào tháng 1 năm sau vì tháng 11 hay có mưa và bão ak

@@hungcuongnguyen293 Ah, Jesus, why are you being like that? He’s just saying what he thinks about our country. Just try not to take things too personally.
SUPER JI
So they don't have a big Western mall with all the major brands and such like in the bigger cities? Interesting. BTW, I don't understand the obsession people have over Dubai. A soulless concrete jungle that is offensive to the senses in every way. No real character or history.
It’s super interesting, if you go to a major Vietnamese Mall such as Vincom, you will not find a single technology shop. Zero. And this is the same for Vincom Ho Chi Min.
You have to go to an area of the city where they have dedicated phone and technology shops.
But there I could just find 2 camera shops, and only one had the gopro (but no batteries)
Being used to the abundance of technology in Thailand, I was just so surprised.
Regarding Dubai. I lived there for 1 year and I have some great friends there, but I have to agree with you.
To be fair... Dubai was just sand in 1990. It is making it's history now
Đà nẵng nhìn khác đẹp và hào nhoáng nếu so với nền kinh tế của ĐN,GRDP của DN chỉ khoảng 6 tỷ usd mà thôi.
♥️
You make me feel home sick :(
