Hello! Sorry I've been away (only been two weeks, but that's a long time on YT now!). I've started a new job and lots of things have happened offline in the last month! Hoping to get into a rhythm as soon as I can
Beckie Jane Brown A lot. If you have anything that is silver there are jewelry polishing rags that make keeping the trays, etc clean of tarnish so much easier than those stinky cleansers.
New job is always exhausting. New colleagues, new emotions etc.
congrats on the job!!!!
I totally get distressed when I see good stuff go to waste too!
Can u talk about Independence after college I would really appreciate that. I just graduated and I neeeed to be on my own
It's nice to see how some people become so passionate about ordinary everyday day objects.
First, LOVE that top!
I am a huge fan of getting to see people decorate their new homes. I get such inspiration. Everyone has their own artistic style. 😊
Congratulations on your new job and happiness lately! you deserve the absolute world and I’m so proud of you
When you first mentioned that you bought secondhand, I did initially think it was a bit tacky. In the past year however, I've started thrift shopping myself and I am never going back! I love the prices and the fact that you can get unique pieces with a story.
Happy to see you're discovering it too! :DD
Watching your videos fills me with so much joy. You are an amazing woman. I don’t always agree with everything you say, but there have been many times you’ve said something that challenged my way of thinking and I came away with a different opinion or perspective. Just here, your thoughts on trash and recycling got me thinking I should really make more of an effort to recycle. I do always donate used items to charity, but right now there is cardboard in my trashcan, and bottles in the dumpster, because I didn’t make the effort to take them to the recycling center. Thank you for sharing your journey through life with us and for challenging me to be a better person!
i love how absolutely unabashedly feminine your taste is. i was given a hard time by friends when i was younger about being girly so i’m always nervous to embrace that part of my taste. i love seeing you do it and you do it happily
Just a little note, as two people misunderstood. I didn't 'haggle' over the salt/pepper pots. In charity shops, you don't haggle, though you may be able to do that in some vintage stores. The man in Mind was just very kind, we talked about mental health issues, my work with the Mind Awards and he wanted to wish me well with the home move. It was a goodwill gesture
I love how happy you are ❤ I'm glad you're in a good place
I LOVE this video. Second hand shops are my favorite. The other day I found a book I had been wanting for .35 cents.
I'm also such a gleaner! If I see anything that's been left behind or going to be thrown out that I can use, I claim it as my own!! And if I can't use it, I take it to the Salvation Army!
I did run into trouble with that once though. Someone left a sweater in the laundry room of my uni residence. Everyone had already moved out so I took it. However, turns out it used to belong to the guy that was my roommate the next year! He hadn't even realized he'd lost the sweater so he honestly believed we just had the same sweater. I never told him 😂
Stella Ella Ola same 😊
Wow! Now that's a story!!! :).
Gleaning can be great, providing we are careful!
I found a glass vase in the skip outside my film school once, it turned out to be from ikea, but for five years - I protected that little thing so much! (Still have it!). I've found a chest of drawers on totenham court road after a shift at lust and brought them home on the bus! It's amazing what we can find a reuse! So much doesn't need throwing away just yet.
Great video Beckie! I love that you’re finding a groove in your new place :) Thrifting is so fun not only because of the prices, but because you can find things that are unique! Gotta love it! :D
It's so nice to see you have things that you've cared for have a home and use. I have yet to get my own place and I have to withhold from getting things I know I would need. This helped my "itch" a bit
This was a fun video. I love send hand shopping. You never know the hidden gems you'll find!
I'm honestly soooo happy for you!!! You seem to be doing much better and seeing how excited and happy you are brings me so much joy. ❤ You honestly deserve it!!!!
I'd really love it if you did a charity/thrift shopping series! Like vlogs where you show us any good finds or what you buy :)
You are so down to earth and relatable. This what I come to youtube for, to find people like me. I love your style and taste, and I too am a huge fan of charity shops (thrift shops here in America). I've been watching you for years, thank you for being part of my life.
Thank you! :DD
Hi beckie can you please do a video on how to prepare to move out of home or how to prepare to live alone etc budgeting, preparing mentally etc:)
That's a good idea! :D Thank you.
I will make a video in the future, I feel I'm still making new discoveries even now! At some point, I will make a video :D
I think it's awesome that you take the time to go to the charity shops and look for items to reuse and recycle. You can find amazing deals on really great one of a kind things. I love our second hand stores and flea markets for just that reason. I think all the items you discovered were lovely, practical, and make your home look inviting. Nice to see the joy they being you too.
2015 beckie vibes! i love your hair and the fact you’re so strong. thanks for the message you’re sending it has helped me a lot. love you beckie ❤️❤️
I'm really psyched because I found a cute photo frame for $4 yesterday. 🙌
Woohoo! Missed you! Congrats on your new job! Hope you have a lovely weekend! ❤
Before you talk down a price in a charity shop remember that all the money goes to people more needy than ourselves :)
Hazel Beddows I didn’t talk down. Before you judge, please consider that you may have misunderstood, or I didn’t explain enough for you to understand. As I’ve said on here already - I didn’t haggle. We just had a lovely conversation about mental health and he did it as a goodwill gesture for me. Xx
Beckie Jane Brown then I admit to being wrong here, my apologies :)
Hazel Beddows I admit I wasn’t too clear enough. A little worried that it’s come across different to how it sounded in my own brain. It’s funny how we all see things differently. Sorry too. Xx
Beckie Jane Brown thank you, great video. Have a lovely evening x
Welcome back! Hope your new job is treating you well ☀️
You look pretty happy :) it's indeed nice to find stuff that one likes for their home :) I hope you have a wonderful week and that the new job is going well. Keep it up, girl 💜 Thank you for bringing smiles along with your vids 😊
It's nice to see your thoughts on populating your new place. I can relate to what you said about not really having your own place to decorate fully before. On a side note: I have those same little stair shelves. I use them for my spices.
So much pink. As a guy who's battling the remnants of his colour bias, it was hilarious. Positively hilarious. Lot of decent stuff here! Thanks for the video as always
Your new home looks so cosy and I’m so glad it’s full of pink! 💗
You really can tell you’re happy in this video and I love it, it’s so nice to see! X
I am so excited for you! This new section of your journey.Making your new home you is fun, and exciting.Congrats on the new job!And while yes, I did miss the normalcy you give me as things over here across the pond are so chaotic, you do have an offline life. And yes, I completely agree, the stories of the items in thrift shops are so worth continuing. The life of our stuff gets extended and they live rich unique lives.I don't know if I just made any sense. It's 2:40am, I need to sleep.Hope your day went well/goes well.Blessed be
I love those little coasters, so cute!! & I'm so glad to see you so happy in your home. :)
Beckie complains about some outside noise or apologizes for it, than i'm like, what noise? That's probably a testament to either how well Beckie set's up her recording or her skill at editing because i don't think i heard the noise she's talking about :))
This is so fun to see. I just moved a few months ago and did sort of the same thing hunting for perfect items at a discount or second hand. Enjoy watching it all come together!
we have that same hershey's kiss tin! one of the cutest things in our whole kitchen. i love all of your lovely home things!
My brother bought me that when he was either in the States or Canada on a skiing trip! I love it! I've been trying to find a good use for it!
I found a quote recently that said something along the lines of, “Every home is its own cabinet of curiosities” ☺️ I love that.
I've been away from the internet for a while and just got caught up on you, I'm really happy to see things going well for you, you deserve every bit of happiness coming your way and more
Beckie I love that we share the love of second hand! I'm going out of town next week and there's a charity shop with the coolest metal tea set! I have no idea why I didn't buy it but I will definitely buy all of it if it's still there when I return!
Congrats on the new job, i am so happy to see you so jolly and smiling and energetic :)
I had such a stressful week and I was so happy to see your video on my subscription box. I wish you know how much your videos means to me. Also your joy is so inflectional. thank you
As someone who also recently moved, I totally loved this.
It’s a credit to your enthusiastic personality that you can take a mildly interesting subject like this and make it watchable. The isn’t intended to be a backhanded compliment. Some subjects are more or less interesting to watch, especially depending on who the viewer is. But you always make it work. Why aren’t you a tv presenter or chat show host? Good on ya, Rebecca.
I love the loose color scheme in your flat! I'm moving in two weeks time and this video has given me some great ideas for things to keep an eye out for in thrift shops!
Yayyy you're back!!! Even though it hasn't been very long I've still missed you 😂 I love the new flat xxx
I’m weirdly obsessed with homeware, I love it.
I actually picked up flower pots from the street, people just left them there. I always love finding something that I can use! Nice pyjamas haha
I LOVE shelves in my cabinets! I think I have at least one in all of them. Kitchen, bathrooms, hall cupboards...
Good to see you again, happy to hear about the job. Wishing you well.
Thrift store shopping is one of my favorite hobbies, I also really only like vintage jewelry as well 💕💫✨ very cute items you found 😊
I missed your videos! I love second hand stuff and a bargain, things are inconveniently super expensive now a days. Hope you good and happy on your new job btw.
I use your happy ramblings for background noise when i draw. very positive + +
I was so excited to see you've uploaded!!! Great video! I loved it! I love anything you make but the chill videos like this i especially love
Love you Beckie! You're beautiful ♥️
my favorite cutlery is the cheapest set from ikea - even though it is prone to bending, the butter knife is sufficiently serrated and the spoon shape is comfortable
Flee markets and charity shops is really fun to visit :) you can always find a bargain on something you never knew you needed 😇
I literally love charity shopping too:)!
Great video. Sounds like you found some good buys. Also appreciate how you recommend shopping at second hand stores because I love them too though:
not clothing shopping because I am larger and its hard to find stuff I like in my size
and I don't get to go too often nowadays because where I live for university there aren't too many good ones.
loved this!
Thank you so much for this video! I feel exactly the same about homeware and often feel frustrated when I see RUclipsrs buying brand new stuff for purely aesthetic reasons.
This is such a good video! ❤️❤️
"I am happy and that's the most important point. "
Yes it is! 😊
In my neighborhood everyone sets out furniture items on the sidewalk one day a week. Taking twilight walks I have acquired about 5 IKEA tables over the years. I have never been to an IKEA :)
Great vlog Beckie ! 🐱☕️🍶
Your hair color looks particularly beautiful in this video! I love your videos, you're my favorite youtuber♥️
Hi Beckie, its so nice to see you again ^^ I hope youre doing better after everything that went down the last couple of weeks, congrats on the new job. Lots of love from Germany
I love that John Lewis cutlery range.
You're so cute in this video. And your hair is so gorgeous today!!
The cutlery story was sweet. ♡
Glad to see you so happy. ~Where I live there are only 3 charity shops. One smells awful when walking into the store. (I can't tolerate it). The others are okay but rather small.
There's something so lovely about filling your own home with your own things ^_^ glad you're in a good place in your life! I remember you mentioned your apartment block has a facebook group - wonder if you could start some kind of swap system? so people would post e.g. a vase they don't want and ask if anyone wants to swap something for it/request specific items
I love the vibe of your videos since you moved 😊
Those little "baking bowls" are called ramekins, at least in the US.
I’ve been watching you for 7 years? I feel old! That’s crazy!! I’m in my second year of university
Just love ur videos thank u xxx
I too love thrifting 💜💜
I didn't know any other adult who preferred plastic over china/glass!!!! It makes me happy! :D
For me it's a sensory thing, I find glass and often china get a weird feeling when washed on the dishwasher and it's awful for me! So I've been using hard plastic glasses for as long as I can remember! Oh, and you look radiant today Rebecca! Much love from Madrid 💖💖
I wish charity shops were a thing in my country
Loved this video! :)
how did cutlery last you 7 years out of uni?!?! i’ve never heard of anyone keeping hold of their own cutlery in uni for more than a fortnight, it’s always a wonder if we have more than 1 fork between us in our house!
Those baking bowls are called ramekins. : ) Great haul!
That's it!
We go secondhand as much as we can! Why spend a lot of money when you can save money when and where you can. Thrift shops are awesome. We have picked up things left on the side of the road. One man's trash is another man's treasure!
i am soooo the opposite of you. i hate having things. moving homes a few times in a year, everything i own eventually downsized fit in the backseat of my car and i found it so freeing ! i live on my own now so i have furniture and a washing machine but if i have much else i find it stressful.
I believe the word you were looking for to describe the bowls at 8:30 was ramekins?
I've missed you! I was thinking about you all day lol
I second the preused stuff. I buy ALL of my clothes 2nd hand from Ebay, I can get really lovely brands for a fraction of the RRP and I don't go to special events much so I really don't care for them not looking brand new.
I have the same set of cutlery but the new colour John Lewis set
I know you said you hate kids, but while I was watching this, my baby girl kept kicking, she must like your voice :)
I think those “baking bowls” are ramekins.
What's that on your shirt I know you talk about it in the past but I can't remember that name of it?
It's a Bellabeat health tracker! :D
Awesome haul! You look beautiful! When was this recorded?
Last month, 8th April. xx
Is it weird I had an add for rogaine, a hair re growth foam for men before this video.
It's sad that charity shops around me are getting more and more expensive, they aren't always the bargain they used to be. Although homewares can be a good bargain at some of them.
I can't wait to furnish my own home
Love form Poland
have you tried Tea Pigs yet? I'm obsessed with their tea.
Not for a long time, so I don't remember what I've tried - I've heard lots of good things though!
I adore tea pigs. Quirky and so tasty!
I have some terrible thrift stores around me, which is a shame. But don't worry about the incense - as long as you're not burning too many sticks at once it won't set off the smoke alarm
I know that some areas have really expensive thrift stores near where I live. It's sometimes worth exploring different towns to see whether they have different prices. Saying that though, I was in a high street recently, where one shop sold everything at ridiculously low prices and the one next door were store prices. It's an absolute gamble sometimes...
I love your eyes
oof, that girl is so gorgeous.
You're so sweet, you make me laugh a lot.
Since you mentioned starting to like different teas, I think you will like my cousins blog. She has a tea obsession and her posts help define the different types of teas and their flavors.
www.myteaaffair.com
I noticed you mentioned Quorn! Are you vegetarian/vegan? If so, * vego high five *
I'm not a veggie, but a pesca. I don't eat meat. xx
Love how you English people say cupboard, so fancy
You are so cute
