This ROM hack is playable on a SEGA Genesis or on a Genesis emulator. It's a Streets of Rage 2 ROM hack based on Shredder's Revenge. The video is a condensed playthrough to show off all the playable characters and bosses (each level shows off a different character).
I'm very much pro-ABG branching more into ROM hack territory. There's a ton of insane stuff, horror and otherwise, that never gets the exposure that a lot of traditional indie games do.
The problem with such reinterpretations is that it is mechanics, gameplay elements and animations that literally remains the same street of rage. Just pull new skins on top of the game
Rescuepalooza is MUCH better. It has somewhat unique special moves and dozens of playable characters. Everyone in this just has some kind of spin attack for their special. Also, ABG what happened to your puns?
Yeah, I heard he is very sensitive about such vile alligat-ions. Being insulted just as he cayman. Enough that he can't find a mate because he hears it from every gharial he meets...
All these SOR hacks have the same music.. I wish they'd take the music from one of the other turtles games and stick it in this hack. Would feel like a real turtles game then and not a hack
Hi! It's based on the sprites from Shredder's Revenge. There's quite a lot more to it than just changing the sprites though. Here are the highlights: Replaced all characters, all enemies and all bosses. New enemy attacks All seven playable characters can jump further while running Characters moves based on those of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Juggling for both players and enemies Recover from a hit by pressing the jump button upon landing (as in SOR4) Run (f, f) is more sensitive You can use the Offensive Special while running 6-Button gamepad Support Friendly fire disabled New sounds for players and enemies. Story and title screen Turbo mode (removes for the delay between strikes when attacking enemies).
Been playing Shredder's Revenge recently, getting back into the swing of it for the upcoming DLC. Just noticed that I've never touched that loser Leonardo on the character selection.
@AkaiAzul he was an unexpected add-on to the roster and bound to be fun to play as. Hopefully he can be used in the base stages. Wonder who else they have to add unless 'new characters' in the trailer was a typo.
@@AgentofLADON I'd love Mondo Gecko! We might even get villains or obscure ones like Ace Duck! I'm curious if they'll add characters not known to the original, like Karai (Splinter's daughter).
@@AkaiAzul I'd like a playable Shredder. Or some of the other superheroes from the comics that turned up in the 2003 series like Nobody and Mikey's Turtle Titan persona.
I never understood why everyone loved streets of rage so much, the soundtrack was ok if you're into that style of music, but the moves were lame, animation was 2 frames, at best it was a cheap knockoff of final fight, which was the only real competition it had... the only other game that comes to mind around the same time was street smart, unfortunately the gameplay didn't match how good it looked in magazines (for you younger folks, that's pronounced "MAG-UH-ZEEN", they were like having 100 iPads stuck together on the left side, and each screen had an image or blog post frozen on it) but now that I think about it, it might have been a straight up fighting game... see, it was so bland that I didn't even bother to store the details in the far back corners of my useless head!

Man I loved streets of rage 2 as a kid. The soundtrack still sounds great. The fact that it got "turtled" is even better.
Also the sprite design and animation is very good.
The soundtrack of the Streets of Rage series is awesome!
SoR sound effects are goated man.
@@BrBethaTungga Agreed!
Rom hacks are just plain awesome sometimes.
Agreed.
16:04 I wonder what engineer's idea was it to give robots (foot soldiers) functional, hurting balls
Just played this today with my son. Lots of fun. Some of the hit boxes are a bit wonky, but overall a solid mod

wow these are the nicest sprites ive seen on the genesis!
WOW memories playing SOR 2 back in the day now TMNT in SOR 2 😂😂
I saw the ending at the end of the video. You really did Raph and Casey like that.
Holy fuck TMNT and SOR2?! PERFECTION!!!
Quite weird to have a TMNT hack with Streets of Rage soundtrack.
Weird, but cool!
@@T1BillionX I agree. It's oddly cool.
There's a version of this hack with TMNT soundtrack.
@@wavefile1674 That's awesome. Do you know the name of the hack or it's still the same?
@@hieioni3354 TMNT Shredder's Re-revenge Music Change.
This brings back some memories! Damn!
At 15:52 love the enemy combo the ninja tossed him to rat king and he hit u with a kick mid air talk about air combo
It’s kinda funny that I actually have streets of rage 2 on my ps5 (including other sega Genesis classics)
I LOVE that you're covering rom hacks because I wouldn't have heard about this another way. Sláinte 🍻🇮🇪
Alternate paths too, nice!
Now we just need to port the OST as well
You know the comments section is full of old people when they see retro SoR or TMNT game.
Old school beat 'em up
7:45 Does anyone notice how the life counter went from 4 to 2 and the timer and healthbar reset?!
Probably a video edit

Chose Mike first time! My man x
It's gotta be done. I love his run animation! :)
이런 레트로 감성 너무 좋고~
Awesome, but its just a sprite replacement with sprites from the new game
There's. a lot more going on here than just a sprite replacement.
That... that's not how you sit on a chair, Shredder.
Man.... this is a great looking mod.
Oh yes, this is amazing and there’s achievements for it.

Hi! The puns are at the end of the video! :)
14:15 is Leatherhead wearing a diaper?
Haha, maybe! But there's no I'd say that to the face of a 9ft killer crocodile! :)

MD+ hacks solve this problem. There are two versions, currently. Both use the arcade and SNES Turtles In Time soundtracks.
Hahaha, nice outro.
So, SOR2 with sprites from Hyperstone Havoc? I'm sure it took quite some time, but...
