  • Walt Disney World Railroad: 3-30-2024.
Over Easter weekend of 2024, we were dragged down once again to the Magic Kingdom. Over this Easter weekend, the Walt Disney World Railroad brought out two trains that haven't truly parted ways since they were on the assembly line at Baldwin. Their #1 "Walter E. Disney," and the #3 "Roger E. Brogie."
*These two locomotives have consecutive serial numbers.
    #1: 58444
    #3: 58445
*Walt has a different whistle from the last time we saw her. She has a replica 5" Baldwin 3 chime. She also has Roy's (#4) set of passenger cars (I do not know why, presumably Walts are going through routine maintenance or inspections, but I do not know for sure).
*We hope to at some point return and catch the Lilly Belle (#2), we just don't know when we will be able to return.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of steam in the Magic Kingdom!

Walter first got the Baldwin whistle back in December 2023. It replaced its Buckeye, which is now being worn by Lilly Belle to replace that locomotive's whistle. As for Walt pulling Roy's coaches, its own coaches are most likely under maintenance. It happens every now and then, but otherwise each locomotive should be hauling its own coaches.

I don’t mind Walter pulling Roy’s Series 400 cars. They look just as good behind Walter. You know Lilly’s Buckeye 3 chime whistle was always high pitched. Even after here 2016 return. Walters got high pitched because it was unclogged during his overhaul. So you really think Walters Series 100 cars might be down for maintenance? If so Roy’s Series 400 cars are a great substitute. I don’t like them behind Roger. They’re ok behind Walter and Lilly. As for Roger’s Series 300 cars they look great behind him and Lilly. If Lilly pulled the Series 300 cars it would resemble Emma Nevada and Coach 5 in a 5 car consist. I also have to admit this Baldwin 5 chime that Walter is equipped with again gives me vibes from Roy’s whistle. But it just isn’t Walter without his Buckeye whistle. I’m sure Lilly’s Buckeye 3 chime will be back soon. Stay optimistic. And I’ll be at Disney this May to enjoy the return of the twin engines.

@@pinchy08 I mean if the 100 series is taking this long to not return then something is up. Walter certainly does look good with the 400 series. Likewise Lilly looked great while she was pulling the 100 series for a while after she returned, as well as the 300 series during October. In fact, Lilly is the only locomotive that looks good with any coach set.

Now that permits have been filed for the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain. I won’t be surprised if there is another closure during the middle phases of construction. Sad, but in the end we better get some scenery in return!

The Walt Disney World Railroad is quite amazing to see with their narrow gauge steam locomotives.
