7:36 models made before 3/2015 have a high change of having scored cylinder walls due to material they used for its coating. Models after that date have steel cylinder walls and it does not happe nanymore.
@ not really, just get a model made after 3/2015 and it will be really good, since they fixed a lot of issues. M157 is also way less complicated and easier to work on than M177 which also has it's issues.
I miss my 5.5l rwd e63 s saloon. Stock it dynoed around 540 wheel horsepower and 850nm at the crank. Beautiful ride comfort, refined and yet a beast and a half. Certainly my current 6.2l w212 is more raw and loud but not as accomplished .it has distronic but no steering pilot . Not sure whether to keep the 6.2 or get a s213 e63s
More than horsepower I find it unbelivable that you can tune those up to 1100nm of torque with just a tune, nothing else. That is almost Veyron level of torque with just a tune!
Prefer the F10 interior much more of the time. Imo from a technical standpoint this engine was solid but nowhere near as capable as its successor M177 (coming from GAD‘s standpoint). Sounded good though, that’s all that matters. Think the CLS was just the much more appealing car, even though nowadays it is pretty overhyped. For me after 2012 the real fun began, up till 2019. But that’s a bit preference.
I own an E63amg s 2014 face lift model, I have a stage 1 700 BHP 1000nmt with a resonator delete, it’s a 2 wheel drive model and it goes and sounds like hell has erupted, I brought it new and I can’t get rid of it, what a car.
I think the 9 gear gearbox it’s not supporting the torque or at that time this gearbox was not as advanced as today to support all this power so they’ve used the 7 gear gearbox
Mercedes Benz peaked before 2012 🙏 They have done better engine and more bulletproof before . This is still my third favourite one they have done . M113k is in the number 1 spot 🤤
yeah the e55 amg really is so cool and actually crazy cheap. Peak mercedes build quality / materials too. Looked a bit dull compared to now but I actually prefer that

I have a 2013 e63 non-awd no tune I haven't compared the fuel consumption to the pump only off what the computer tells me but I have gotten in ok conditions 9.4L per 100km on open roads. this car with even a little city driving for example 6km in the city you'll tipicall burn through about 1 to 1.5L just getting to the highway and that might be why you are getting 10 ish L per 100km

It has no soul, no personality whatsoever!

But they often bend their piston connecting rod, even happens stock sometimes. Cylinder walls also arent their strength
