They should make a full wrecker body with a wheel lift so you can replace it with the factory truck bed and you can go tow a broken down scale truck or car.
Wow! Fantastic ingenuity mate. Here’s an idea: You could try some thin gasket material (or a piece of bike inner tube) between the bracket and the shell. It would serve two purposes: protecting the shell body and filling in the tiny gap or at least reducing it.

IT LOOKS GREAT!! But I think you have the skid plate installed backwards? The opening normally goes to the back so the tractor can slid under the kingpin on the trailer. No big deal, just putting in my "2cents" .
