    Great video! I purchased a Lutron Caseta Wireless Smart Bridge dimmer kit with lamp dimmer and pico remote. I installed it and the pico remote works, but not with the Lutron app. I added the pico remote device on the Lutron app, when I click the turn on/off the light it does not work. But it does work if I choose my audio Sonos speaker instead, so I know the bridge is working. Any idea what could be the issue please? I appreciate your help! TY

    I didn't see where you showed how to program the center button on the Pico Remote. I use that button to turn on a pre-set level of brightness or dimness...AND I'm supper bummed that the main switch doesn't come with a pre-set feature as well...unless I'm missing something. If I am, please let me know.

      Hi Debra, thanks for watching! You’re right, I did not have that step in the video and I agree it stinks you’re not able to do a preset on the main switch. The good news is that the Pico Remotes are awesome. You use the pico remote to dim to your liking and then you hold the center round button for 5 seconds. You’ll see the green LED flash, turn off, and then turn back on to show the preset has been saved. I hope that helps!!

    I had a question when i connected smartbridge with alexa my lights were blinking when i gave a command alexa turn on lights ??

    • @HandzforHire
      @HandzforHire  5 лет назад +1

      chantu1234 oh man. Nothing more frustrating than getting to the end and then having to troubleshoot lol.
      It’s hard to know what it might be without asking a few more questions.
      1. Is the blinking/flickering happening only with Alexa or is it happening with the hardwired switch or pico remote too? If it’s happening with those too (even occasionally) it might be a bulb compatibility issue.
      2. What type of bulbs do you have and what kind of switch did you install? If they’re LEDs, then the lights probably have a transformer that steps them down to 12V or 24V. If that’s the case then you need an ELV or MLV switch to be able to dim LED bulbs. I had to install a bunch of PD-5NE (ELV) switches in my house for this reason otherwise I got a flicker when I dimmed. You might be able to switch out the bulbs or in my case, I had to change my switch. This might be completely different than your setup, but worth the ask.
      3. How many switches did you install? Is Alexa making it blink everywhere or just some places?
      I hope you’re able to get to the bottom of your issue!

    • @chantu1234
      @chantu1234 5 лет назад +1

      Handz for Hire hii its blinking only with alexa commands its working perfect with pico remote and switch.My bulbs are incandescent i read online it said lowering the brightness in alexa would work it turn lights on but then again it blinks after giving command

    • @HandzforHire
      @HandzforHire  5 лет назад +1

      @@chantu1234 That's weird because incandescent should be fine and easily dimmable. Can you humor me and just examine the light bulb to make sure it's a dimmable bulb? Maybe try a different bulb to see if does the trick? If that's not the issue, then I'd try adjusting the high and low end trim on the switch itself. If that doesn't work, then I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the light in the Alexa app. It sounds to me like a compatibility issue somewhere in the circuit. Alexa, the Lutron Smart Bridge, and Switch should all be compatible, so my gut says the bulb. What's the model number on your Lutron Caseta switch? If none of the above works, then I'd call the Lutron Support team (1 (800) 523-9466) and they can help you troubleshoot. Please keep me posted! - Jay

    for the pico remote, what is there is a neutral wire? Does the group get capped off by itself and then the hot, transfer, and neutral wire get capped off together?

    • @HandzforHire
      @HandzforHire  3 года назад +1

      Hi Puneet - You should be able to see a collection of neutral wires in the back of the box. Just attach your neutral wire (if you're sure it's a neutral) with other neutral wires, and then you will cap off the ground by itself, followed by the hot and transfer wires grouped together to close the circuit. Think of the black (hot) and red (transfer wire) carrying in the electricity to all of your switches, lights, and outlets, and the neutral wire is carrying the electricity back to the circuit breaker box. If you group a neutral with the hot, then you will end up shorting the rest of the circuit. I hope that helps!

    • @ronin120
      @ronin120 3 года назад +1

      @@HandzforHire thanks for the response. I realized after posting my comment, that after taking the old switch out, I would have to just uncap and take out the neutral wire that is attached to the old switch and then recap the neutral wires together correct? Then do what you did in the video, cap the ground by itself, and then the “hot” and the travelers together…then install the pico remote.

    Can you use a LIFX bulb with the Lutron Caseta switch?

    • @HandzforHire

      Nelson Scott Howard unfortunately no smart bulbs currently work with the Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge at this point (that I’m aware of). Look at the Lutron Aurora switches. I haven’t done full research but they are battery operated, can be mounted on the wall like a switch, and might be the solution you’re looking for. 2:31 - looks like you connected transfer (red) + hot (black) AND neutral (white) - is that correct?

    • @HandzforHire
      @HandzforHire  4 года назад +1

      Hi James - You are correct that I connected red, black, and white into one bundle and then ground separately. This just closes the circuit after removing the switch. The way my house is setup, the neutral wires are in the way back of the switch boxes and aren't connected directly into the switch. The white here is the load (flows electricity up to the light) and then the wire coming off the other side of my light is the neutral. Thanks for reaching out and let me know how your project goes!

    • @jayherrigel

      Great question and the answer is that not all LED bulbs are capable of dimming, so it has to be a dimmable LED. Most sold today are dimmable, but you may have to switch it out if you have an older one.

      Hi, sorry if there's confusion. If you use the PD-6WCL-WH switches I used in this video, then no you don't need a neutral, but if you get the Lutron Caseta ELV+ Dimmer Switch, PD-5NE-WH for LED dimming then you do need a neutral. That particular switch requires one. In my explanation at the end of the video, I used the PD-5NE-WH with neutral to explain the LUT-MLC. I hope that helps clarify. • @HandzforHire

      Hmmm that's a great question and something I have never done before. Do you have your switches connected to Alexa too? Have you tried removing and adding one device again to see if that works? I know that's not practical if you have several switches, but at least you'd be able to troubleshoot. Julian Hamm thanks for watching! The voice command is whatever you name the switch or whatever you name the group. For example, if you name your switch “garage lights” then you’d just say, “Alexa, turn on the garage lights.” If you group together a bunch of switches and want to turn them all on at the same time then you just use the group name. I hope that helps!
