I DD in Pittsburgh, in the south hills to Robinson areas. I just got to platinum 2 months ago and have been averaging $20-$25/hr daily. Even a $40/hr during a Wednesday night. Being a Platinum dasher has been amazing for me
How many garbage offers did you have to take to get platinum status? Even after you reach platinum status they still send you garbage offers. I have self deactivated my account because I refuse to take garbage offers and feed the non tippers, be manipulated and exploited.
@@MrEjohnstonyou’re right we still see trash order but me personally I don’t accept any that’s not 1$/mile. I’m also averaging $20 per hour or more. There is a big benefit to plat. I have full time in the morning so I dash either at 5:30 or 6pm till about 8/9:30 or till I start getting stupid order that are like $5 for 8 miles or when it takes me way out of my zone into the ghetto part of the city. And I’m making $90+. I also scheduled my dashes so that the golds and silvers aren’t able to dash now
I very rarely get an order that is less than $1 a mile. My zones I work in are very dense as well, so I almost never see an order go over 10 miles. I would say I get a really garbage order 1 out of 20 orders
I think the saturation so many people have noticed is actually because of the shop and delivers. They've been growing their order volume tremendously, but since they know a lot of dashers won't shop, they have to hire way more dashers for the same volume
I get tired after a few hours of nonstop shopping, but I sure like it at the end of the day when I make as much or more than just restaurant deliveries, and have only used a quarter tank.
@@Jim_DeliversSo you've got it figured out. Sometimes we don't get everything exactly the way we want it. If I did this job, I'd take pictures of the aisles of the stores and memorize the layout, and I'd study it every night before going to sleep. Your shopping will get done faster, and sometimes you can help other drivers if they look lost.
I did dash by time and I can't believe the orders I got. 30% tipped. The ones who didn't tip kinda frustrating that they would allow them to not tip going 10 miles. I took my time of course 😂
It does feel as if, some days, earn by time is the only way to get any reasonable volume on Doordash, even in big markets. There are an obscene number of no tip orders nowadays.
Welcome to VIP status! I'm on the pilot program, look for a wider roll out coming in a bit. But still this just crushed my order volume, perhaps I'll try EBT next with no Preferences filter?
@@YourDriverMikemy EBT experience has been decent. Not sure if platinum dasher has anything to do with it or just dumb luck. Actually had a catering order on EBT. You just never know… ha!
Summer is rough, especially July in my experience. I think it's a combination of less customers because of vacation and people being out more and more dashers like teachers and students dashing in the summer.
I dropped down from Platinum to Gold on DoorDash over the weekend. The orders have been so bad I've just been sticking with UberEats because at least they don't punish you for declining offers taking your little titles and stars away, freeze you out or send five $2 orders in a row. I'd rather just deliver wine and big bags of dog food on UberEats for more money.
Mid afternoons and mid mornings are often the best time to turn on shop and deliver. I'm noticing in my market that lunch shifts are usually pretty good for me from about 11:30 to 1:00. The dollars are less because I get several fast food single meal sorts of orders but the miles are low for the most part. I will go out 4:30-5:00 PM for my short evening shifts and the first hour can be pretty good but then about 6:00 it slows way down (I usually go home around 7:00). This tells me that a lot of dashers come on that work a regular job and this is for extra income (or the wife goes out when the husband gets home or vice versa). Weekends are almost always dead for me - - too many dashers out!
Hey Mike! I saw you were driving near squirrel hill, but have you tried venturing out a little bit? I’ve dashed in Monroeville quite a bit and it has been pretty successful which wouldn’t be far from ya at all. I know everywhere has just gotten too saturated, but it might be worth a shot. Good luck man!
@YourDriverMike You remember when the market was good. I remember seeing you once at the Washington Red Robin years ago. Those were the good times, too bad it will never be like that again. Gone are the days of averaging 1,700 per week in the Pittsburgh market. Due to the sharp market decline we can no longer cherry-pick, it's slim picking as it is. I laid delivery to rest for good last August after over 14,000 combine deliveries on DD and Uber. I moved on to an oil field job, it's stressful at times but we're making that money. Here it is possible to make 4K+ per week if you're on the right job!
Not sure if this works, but if I'm sitting for a while, I'll take a small order just to end up in a different location where there might be more offers. Cherry picking while multi apping is what I'll do. I'll shop if I'm not getting offers from other apps.
Mike have you tried any of the markets to the North? Cranberry Twp Warrnedale area or Butler Kittanning? The two rural markets I do well in Butler and Kittanning.
Right now i have been on Uber Eats and i want to multi app but doordash and skip the dishes tell me i am on the waitlist up here in canada...any idea how long the waitlist takes? Love your content. 🇨🇦
When I first started with DD orders were on average 10$ for a couple of blocks and then it became 10$ for a few kilometers and then it became 4$ and then it sucked.
Mike I feel you on S&P avoidance, but I've gradually given in to the hearty goodness of it. It seems as the economy is presently tanking, many consumers are aiming at a _"bang for buck"_ lifestyle for now, and single meal deliveries just don't fit into that budget. Probably gonna be low volume and lowball offers for a while......
These apps or just not they used to be. Plus we got the Summer Slowdown. People are not at home ordering food. Also students and teachers now want a summertime job so they're driving and we have an influx of drivers. Not the best time to be delivery driver no matter your market. Sending love from Los Angeles 💛💜
I did some doordash orders for the first time in awhile and noticed something new/different. When completing it just tells me how much I'm paid. No breakdown of doordash base pay or customer tip.
Looks like preferences is coming to Albuquerque. No email about it, but suddenly Mt app has a preference button. Right now, it just shows pizza orders, but when rewards came, it took about 2 days for everything to be online here
Just noticed some (I think) new verbiage. Got a shop and deliver order and the screen stated 13 distinct items. If that's new, it's a very useful bit of info. Especially on orders with 40 items. Much more likely to say yes to a 40 item order if I know it's got 15 picks on it, rather than accepting and looking through the list and saying, oh, there's only 13 items, because they ordered 20 jalapeños
1) if you don't dash fairly regular you won't get offers from DD. I can't imagine trying to Dash Silver. I'm Platinum and if I'm not at least at 90+ AR it's just not worth it
As a gold, near platinum dasher...I have yet to get high paying offers whilst occasionally uber eats pay give a $15 to $25 for 10 to 30 mile trips...which in my market is just better than $2 to $5 for 5 to 10 mile trips, not to mention food is hardly ever ready here when i arrive at the restaurant. I did 3 hour DD shift on Saturday and only got $44 with earn by time, my market has a lot of no tippers.
All I know is, during the weekday around 11-2, it could be busy, but all the action is in the downtown/financial district of my market. Also, proximity is extremely important. Like, 100 feet matters. Just my two cents.
I'm so glad point pickup went out of business, every order was such a terrible job. Uber eats is horrific, every single day I get at least 3 order requests for $7 or less for 25 miles. In my market after 2 until 4:45, almost every order will be crap.
Got deactivated a week ago already had another job because these apps pay slave wages .. so happy I’m not a gig slave anymore . But I am now a wage slave 😂
@@nocturnus6 my satisfaction was at 84% I’m not eligible for an appeal In my area 🤣 makes no sense .. it’s okay the immigrants can have the gig economy and the desperados
People pushed for this hourly pay and got it, now most drivers are choosing Earn by time just to “stay busy.” I’m more than sure they get the orders first because they can’t deny but two orders so cherry pickers will def be getting shop & deliver with less cherries to pick for sure. Also since DD Changed their S&Ds with total wine we started losing out on a bunch of money too which in turn is making them more money on the back end. It’s crazy to think a year or two ago I was killing it with DD alone now I’m lucky to make gas money with them. It’s sad because I actually like driving for GIG apps but now it seems like they are only out for themselves, I also heard the creators used to drive themselves when starting up the company & im thinking they should go back to just that.
And this, specifically, is why I have no trouble double dipping orders between apps. If we are to be expected to make a living wage taking $3-4 orders, then the apps cannot be shocked that we should want to double our order volume to make up the difference. (edited for spelling errors.)
Not worth the time to roll for 4 dollars even if its less than a mile. You still have to deal with what times and everything else. Better to sit and wait for a better offer, even if its slow. And then he got it stacked with a 50 cent tip order haha
I think the dollar to mile strategy is about the same as the pitch count in baseball, stupid. 3, 4 years ago okay but not nowadays, a couple extra miles is not going to make much difference on fuel usage or car maintenance and having other income it benefits taxes. Doing EBT I take pretty much every order unless really unreasonable and some days good, some bad. It usually comes out to about $1.10 a mile start to finish from my door which is about the same as doing EBO. The only difference is I’m not sitting doing nothing declining every order, I make what I want and do it much faster. The problem is you really have to bite the bullet sometimes when you deliver a big order to a nice house and no tip.
